The younger rider was fast and his backside distracting so it was difficult for O'wain to focus on just running. Then there was the fact he, unlike Z'jan, wasn't in the habit of running about barefoot till his soles were tough as wherhide. Sand was about the only thing he ran on and most races he did O'wain was either in boots, riding a runnerbeast or in the air on Nishkath.
He ducked a low hanging branch, jumped over a low shrug and managed to get close enough to Z'jan he could almost grab him only to have a branch come otu of nowhere smack him in the face. At the same time Z'jan turned off the path and between some fruit trees. The sting of a branch smacking his face slowed O'wain down so by the time he ran between the redfruit trees he lost ground on the greenrider.
"Fuck me," O'wain muttered then did his best to put on the speed. If Z'jan had not yelled 'surrender' O'wain would have ran right past the sharp turn and end up somewhere deeper into the woods. As it was, the call drew O'wain to a quick halt. Turning, he looked around till he noticed Z'jan's tracks leading around a thick tree.
Jogging up to the tree, O'wain followed the signs of somebody taking a sharp turn and spotted Z'jan standing before a very thick and nasty looking thorny hedge. He grinned. Z'jan was trapped now. If he had been smart he should have just ran back the way he came, O'wain wouldn't have expected Z'jan to suddenly appear before him, or more exactly, behind him.
"Looks like you got yourself cornered, Z'jan and you did surrender. Come here my Dear." O'wain gestured with a hand, beckoning the boy to approach. Since he called surrender, far as O'wain was concerned, that made him his for the duration of the game. "I accept your surrender, now for me to enjoy my conquest."
