Tal noticed B'jin's discomfort and reluctance. It took no genius to see it. The healer smiled at B'jin, but it was a stagnant, manufactured one. "I was on my way to visit you anyhow," he clarified, noting how B'jin wilted at his initial comment. "But you look a mess." He didn't bother pointing out how selfish it would be of him to demand B'jin's attention and affection after finding him in such a state. '
The young man folded his hands in front of him and followed. He kept his medical advice and other commentary to himself. B'jin looked rough enough without being scolded, and the look on his face and his slumping posture showed just how had he felt over the entire thing. The listless, drawn-out 'I'm fine' only added to the evidence.
Talian followed obediently, seating himself a comfortable distance from B'jin and turning his concerned eyes on the man. "You've listened to me complain a good deal...I'm actually not so bad at listening either, though," he said softly. He wrung his hands in his lap. He wanted to say something more comforting, but he wasn't sure what was appropriate. He was a good listener, but not as good at proving eloquent consoling words. He too serious and mechanical for that, and he was awkwardly aware of it. Better to stay quiet and let his curious, worried eyes and subtly down-turned lips do the talking.
