Mylorah sat on the solid gate of a stall swinging her oddly clothed legs. She preferred dresses and even after a trip between to Telgar or Fort, she'd strip off the jacket and pants but the winter months left her feeling the chill and she kept both articles on. When compared to being out in the Hold of either region, this Weyr was toasty but it was still cooler than Ista's coolest days and she was being a wimp that morning. R'dare mentioned he was going to see his dad and she'd jumped on for a lift to visit some friends and see how Cazan was doing. It was a lot easier to catch up when so many were in the same Weyr for upcoming Hatchings. She normally would have been among them but Fort had their stupid--yet totally reasonable and understandable--Healer Hall rule.
She ran into a couple soon after landing and had a quick chat before they went off to their daily tasks. One of the boys knew where Fediletch was working and it seemed like a safe bet she'd find him there and she had. She'd greeted her friend with a hug and a kiss to his cheek before shooing him back to work, promising she wouldn't distract him. So she sat on the gate of a stall he'd already cleaned--mucked, apparently was the proper word--that was also vacant and watched him work while they chatted, catching up on what was missed since their last time together.
"Oh! I forgot. I brought some cookies I made the other day. They're even better than last time, I promise!" Mylorah laughed, used to everyone picking on her baking attempts. They were pretty bad but C'dhin had helped her master a lot of the basics and showed her a couple of recipes she kept trying her hand at when given access to someone's cooking area. Now that A'tay had stocked up his kitchen for Zelana to use, she was going to try to get in there some more as well. Zelly likely wouldn't mind and Mylorah bet they would have a lot of fun sharing the space and getting to know each other.
"If you smile and say please, I might be persuaded to hand feed you one right now," Mylorah grinned slyly as she watched her friend work. He was already a bit dirty and sweating but Fedliletch made both things look good. Flirting was just a part of who she was and while Fediletch was such a pure and sweet boy that didn't inspire some of the more outlandish ways she could be, he definitely could still inspire her naughty side. She took off her backpack and rummaged through it to pull out the bag of cookies. A cookie was freed and she waggled it enticingly with a grin.

It was always so nice to see Mylorah, and talking with her while he worked always made things go a lot faster. Fediletch caught her up on how he was learning to play cards a little better ( though he wasn't that good at it yet), the newest words he'd discovered in his reading practice, and his general excitement that maybe one of these two clutches would be where his dragon found him!
"Ooh cookies?" At the mention of snacks, Chuck popped his brown head out from the pile of hay he'd been rustling about in to go hop over and beg. "Chuck! Those are for people, not for you. Don't be rude."
Chastened, the firelizard made a show of looking as apologetic and sad as possible as he perched rather prettily nearby, carefully looking at everything that wasn't food. At least except when Fetch turned away, when Chuck turned his faceted eyes to watch Mylorah hopefully.
Fetch finished with the stall he was working on, an arm wiping the sweat from his brow as he turned back to Mylorah with a smile. "Smiling is always easy when you're here. I'll take a cookie, please." He walked over, leaning in closer and taking a bite out of an offered cookie.
After chewing and swallowing the bite down he asked, "Are you sure you don't want to Stand at these? I know you don't like the Healer Hall stuff, but you could be a good Healer. You always make me feel better, so maybe you're a natural."

Mylorah nodded in agreement that it was people food, not Chuck food. But as soon As Fetch turned away, she quickly gave the cookie to the firelizard and waved him off to eat it in secret. She then pulled another one from the bag and returned to smiling and waved it again when Fetch turned back and came over. She didn’t want her own firelizard but they were adorable critters that she liked to spoil.
As he came in close for the bite, Mylorah wrapped her legs lightly around him to keep him trapped for the moment. She was still smiling, glowing at the praise that she made him happy by being around. That’s what friends were for! She wanted to make work a little easier or more enjoyable and generally make life fun for everyone. At the mentioning of the Hatchings and Healer Hall, the smile flipped into a small frown but Fetch was once more giving her compliments and she couldn’t help but brighten up again.
“You are too sweet, Fediletch,” Mylorah leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss to the lips and offered up another bite of the cookie. “But I don’t know. My bedside manners are amazing—in several ways as you well know,” she winked but didn’t fill in the blanks. People, including Fetch himself, said he was dumb or slow but Mylorah liked to think he was just naïve and needed a helping hand, not insults.
“I can’t Stand for Aradissicath’s anyway since the new rule is if I don’t join Fort and the Hall before the Hatchings, then I can only visit for ones with a gold and then do the healer stuff if I Impress her.” Mylorah was back to frowning and took a nibble of the cookie before Fediletch finished it off. “But everyone keeps asking me to Stand so maybe if Malvayth has a gold egg I’ll come for it. But you better Impress right alongside me! Or before. I guess I won’t be upset if one of Aradissicath’s babies likes you. I couldn’t blame them for something I’m guilty of.”

Fetch didn't mind when Mylo trapped him with her legs, though he did reach down to set a supportive hand against her back just in case she lost her balance. It wouldn't do to have her fall down into a stall after all, even if he had finished cleaning it and put down some fresh straw for the next horse that came along. He smiled at the kiss, eyes squinting happily and cheeks turning only slightly pink.
"Awe, I don't think I'm all that sweet, but thank you." Fetch mulled over the comment about her bedside manner for a moment, certain there was some sort of joke in there from the amused little squint that touched the corner of Mylorah's eyes. He'd heard people comment on healers having good or bad bedside manners, but always thought that just meant they were nice or jerks. Mylo certainly wasn't a jerk and she was very nice in more ways than one, like she'd said. Oh! It was a sex joke! Fetch stifled the small chuckle he had, knowing it was probably poorly timed considering he didn't immediately realize what she'd meant.
Fetch finished off the rest of the cookie, thinking of how he could be the most encouraging. "Well maybe she will so that you can come Stand, and I will do my best to make friends with as many eggs as I can so that I can impress too. And then I can help you during Weyrling class with the heavy stuff and doing things like oiling, and you can help me with the trickier things. Even if I impress before you I'll do my best to help." He smiled, completely genuine in his offer to help her with anything he could.

"You just proved again that you are sweet," Mylorah pointed out. He would potentially have his own dragon yet Fediletch was willing to help with her own on top of that. No way would she let him do all of the work, even if he didn't Impress. They would work alongside each other as they oiled their own dragons. She supposed he could help with any heavy lifting though.
"Looks like you persuaded me and I have no choice but to Stand if there's a gold. But if I do Impress her, you're helping me study and practice all that healing business." She had some survival healing skills, almost everyone who lived in Katila did, but there was a lot more to learn. But having some sexy bodies to strip and wrap and whatever else could make it easier to deal with.
"I guess I should let you go so you can finish up," she released the leg hold she had and booped his nose with a grin. "I can capture you again after. I still have plenty of cookies as well." She laughed as Chuck caught her eye as he perked up at the mention of more treats. Maybe she did spoil some of them too much.

"I didn't mean to do that," said Fediletch as he rubbed the back of his neck. He really didn't try to be sweet or anything on purpose. He just liked to be helpful and hoped his friends could see how much he appreciated them when he did help. Mylorah really was one of the nicest people he knew and he was so glad to have met her.
He grinned when she finally said she would Stand if there was a gold. "I'll help you as much as I can, promise. I'll even help you read the books. Or do my best to. I can take notes!" Fetch was oddly proud of himself and felt safe enough making the offer to Mylo. She would never make fun of him for offering such a thing, even though she knew he wasn't that great at reading still. It would probably be a more fun way to practice reading than doing it on his own with only Chuck around. Sure he knew it was important to be able to concentrate, but it was just boring and that made it harder. Or maybe that was the point.
Fetch gave Mylo a smile and a nod as she released him. "I'll see you later then. The cookie was really good! Even better than last time! I won't be busy too much today, just this and making sure the herd beasts have fresh water after that." He watched as Chuck moved to carefully climb onto her shoulder and shook his head. "Chuck... if you want to take him with you that's fine. Just send him back if he acts like a pest. Thanks for visiting me!"
