Johar prefers to wear form-fitting garments. Her favorite color is pink but a lot of her attire is light blues and greens.

Johar comes from a family of crafters from Lemos Hold. She remembers her childhood well, relaying memories of family dinners and plenty of outings with her brothers and sisters. But she also spent a lot of time daydreaming and coming up with stories. Her parents thought to send her to Harper Hall, even though she was bad at music. Surely legists were needed, right? And Johar had good handwriting and memory.

So, off Johar went at the age of thirteen. About the only instrument she could play was drums and she loved drum codes. Her mentors put her to work transcribing music to be circulated, recording histories, and, of course, copying down drum messages. It might have seemed like menial work for some but Johar loved how it felt like she had her finger on the pulse of what was happening throughout Pern, even though she had only seen two Holds ever.

She wasn’t sure what to think when Searchdragons from Fort arrived. She had heard so much about Weyrs -- their politics, their drama, their dangers -- but she decided to give it a try. No one else in her family was a dragonrider so maybe she’d be the first? Nothing ventured, nothing gained, she told herself as she left.

She didn’t Impress at her first Hatching and deeply considered leaving but decided to give it another try. That’s how Cimbreth found her at eighteen. And while nothing changed as far as how Johar felt about the Weyr, everything in her life suddenly seemed renewed, sunnier than before.

But Johar missed home. Even though Lemos was just a /between/ ride away, she missed the scenery, the familiarity. She wanted her family to know that she was flying overhead, not a coast away somewhere. So, once weyrlinghood was done, she asked to be transferred to Benden.
