General Description:

Smouldering hazel eyes are deep set and often leave him appearing to be squinting.

Dark brown with soft highlights fall around his face in a wild array of curls. It’s a tossup whether he’ll wear it loose or pulled back in a cute little tail.

While still slightly below average in terms of height, Narinoa is still one of the tallest in his immediate family. He’s told he gets his height from his grandfather on his father’s side and appreciates the man he’s never met for blessing him with those genes. His physical appearance is rather proportioned for his height and thanks to years of physical labour on the farm, his muscles are defined and not much in the way of body fat can be found.

General Dressing Style:

Narinoa prefers comfort and practicality over style. He wears clothes that he doesn’t care if they end up stained or torn. Typically he’s seen in comfortable pants with plenty of pockets and an unbuttoned shirt that’s either left hanging open or is stuffed into a back pocket when it is too hot for even that flimsy piece of material to be worn.

Likes:

Animals: Horses, cats, firelizards, dragons… Narinoa has room in his heart for them all and will often go out of his way to greet one if he sees one wandering by. He currently has a green firelizard named Pip (Pipsqueak) and hopes to get a cat when he has his own weyr.

Sex: Good way to meet people, great exercise, and benefits all those involved. What’s not to like about it?

Swimming: In his spare time, weather permitting, Narinoa will be found at a lake or the ocean or even a pond if that’s the closest body of water. Swimming is relaxing but also healthy and helps keep him in shape.

Strengths:

Ambitious: Never one to just sit around and wait for things to happen, Narinoa likes to get a jump on things and tries his best at new tasks, sometimes pushing himself to the limit.

Adventurous: What’s the point in staying in a safe routine when there’s so much more out there? Hiking, Cliff diving, even just skinny dipping in public. He’s not afraid to put himself out there and isn’t one to back down from a challenge.

Caring: Admittedly, this extends more to his sisters and animals, but Narinoa has room in his heart for most people and will take a moment to check up on a friend that might be unwell and will offer to lend a hand whenever possible—though as a Candidate that is more to show he’s an asset, making it lean into a flaw of craftiness.

Dislikes:

Pickled Foods: Why would you do that to delicious food?! He gets why, with it preserving some items a bit longer but ew. He’ll eat fresh, thank you very much.

Fire/Lightning: A tended campfire is fine, but massive unchecked fires scare him. The Ista wildfires brought back a lot of buried emotions from when he was a child and lightning set a barn on fire. The panicked animals’ calls for help, the smell… no. He doesn’t like the memories and gets nervous when a fire seems to be bigger than it should be or a strong storm is blowing through.

Z’ia: While he doesn’t hate his brother, he’s not too fond of the way he never came back to see his family, letting them think he was dead. In fact, Narinoa was too afraid to ask about his brother when he was Searched, not knowing if the man lived, Impressed, or where he was since then it would be confronting him. Upon meeting his brother, he’s not quite sure what he thinks.

Flaws:

Arrogant: He knows he’s good at his craft and thanks to some lovers gossiping, he knows he’s great in bed and handsome. It has gone to his head and he will sometimes look down on others that he knows don’t measure up.

Crafty/Sneaky: It doesn’t show itself regularly, and it is hardly done in malice, but sometimes Narinoa will do things to put himself in a better light or just to prove to himself or a friend he’s with that he can. Sure, he could just ask, but sneaking into a room or coming up with a tale to cover their tracks is fun.

Addictive Personality: As is already evident with sex and soon ‘sex-klah’, Narinoa latches onto something he enjoys and can’t really let go. Even tending animals, wild ones he finds injured in the woods included, calls to his need to help. He avoids alcohol as much as he can, knowing it could be his downfall like a man that used to work on the farm, but some things can’t be avoided forever.

Habits & Mannerisms:

When lost in thought, his mouth hangs open slightly, giving him a sultry look thanks to the added effect of the natural set of his eyes.

When he thinks he’s alone, he’ll often hum a popular song that’s stuck in his head.

General Personality:

Despite his dedication to his craft, Narinoa is a fun-loving, easy-going guy. He loves a good joke, loves laughing, and enjoys the company of others. But when it comes time to focus on the task at hand, Narinoa is all about that focusing and doesn’t tolerate goofing around, especially if it could endanger an animal.

Because of being raised around horses and barn cats, Narinoa is used to speaking to them and knowing what they want through their actions, but finds it highly amusing to have dragons actually be able to say what they want. The beastcrafter side of him is utterly fascinated by dragons and how majestic they are and learning more about them was what made him give up his life on the family farm and try something new, though a sense of impulsiveness likely didn’t help either.

While still living at home, Narinoa was a bit of a bed-hopper. He had a few people on staff he hooked up with regularly though nothing that would be considered a serious relationship. Since being Searched and having his first time with another man (R'VI), Narinoa has developed a bit of a reputation for being a bed-warmer. It doesn’t take much to catch his eye and he doesn’t see the harm in sleeping around. After all, that was how everyone from Holds were trained to think about the Weyr lifestyle anyway so he might as well enjoy it now that he’s a part of it. He doesn’t see a one night stand as a bad thing and if someone literally seeks him out just for a tumble in bed without even dinner and a conversation, Narinoa sees it almost as a compliment since people know him and know what he’s good at. Of course having everyone know him for his personality would be nice as well, but he’s fully embraced his enjoyment of sex and doesn’t care if he’s seen as easy or a whore. That being said, he’s not overly fond of being pulled into a broom closet for a quickie and left a mess and sometimes without his own release. Some riders are jerks in his opinion.

Recently (mid 739), Narinoa went camping with a group of people and goldrider Casa gave them what had been dubbed by Misharan some sex-klah. He loved it and how it made him feel. He learned more about it from her and now has his own supply that he dips into a few times a week, taking a half dose or even a bit less, in the evening’s down time. The sex that he enjoys so much is now mind-blowing and he (and his lovers) love how he’s ready to go again and again with little down time needed. As the months progress, he’ll develop an addiction of sorts to it, taking it near nightly, citing the extra sex and his system running so high helps him sleep better at night.

When he’s not being used by someone or assisting in the care of the herd beasts and other livestock, Narinoa is off seeking something fun and thrilling. He’s outgrown the need to be studious at all times and avoid the excitement going on around him and will often partake in hikes, exploring the land nearby and attempting to rock climb or dive off cliffs into the water as a little sense of danger is needed to keep things fresh, especially after so much of his youth was dedicated to learning.

Important History:

715 & Born: Narinoa is considered a happy accident as his parents had not planned to have any more children, especially given their advancing ages.

716-722 & 1-7: Narinoa spends his early years being passed around to family and staff that are available to watch him until he’s old enough to start tagging along and brushing the ponies or cleaning a stall.

723-726 & 8-11: His time is spent alternating between Harper lessons and helping in the barns.

727 & 12: His father dies at the start of the year. The winter was rough on him, bringing about illness that his over-worked body couldn’t fight off. After his 12th birthday, Narinoa officially starts training in the beastcraft, moving away to the Hall as he wants to continue in his dad’s steps.

728-732 & 13-17: Dedicates his time to learning everything he can, but doesn’t do much socialising. He has friends but he’s not as carefree and flippant as the others. He wants to go have fun but knows this will be his livelihood and what supports his family.

733 & 18: Shortly after his 18th birthday, Narinoa is tapped, making him an official Jr. Journeyman. He returns home to help his family, finding comfort once again around the horses and oddly delighting in the physical labour.

735 & 20: Dragons! Narinoa never really believed his sisters that they got to see them up close though he did believe that they had an older brother that was Searched. But dragons are back! They’re real! He’s not entirely sure what to think about them hiding for so long but he hopes to see one up close one day.

736 & 21: His mother dies peacefully in her sleep from what they assume to be old age. She had retired from the farm work years earlier, spending time with his eldest sister Pelandria’s kids.

738 & 23: In month seven, a Search party comes to their farm and J’shom and his green dragon deem Narinoa worthy. Unsure if he wants to give up all he knows, Narinoa hesitates until his interest in dragons and the need he didn’t know he truly had for something new and exciting wins him over. Unfortunately, he doesn’t Impress at his first hatching but the whole process leaves him utterly enchanted by dragons and the lifestyle.

739 & 24: Having fully embraced the Weyr life, Narinoa is gaining an reputation for enjoying parties and being great in bed. With a couple of clutches on the Sands in Ista this year, he has turned his focus back to the dragons, paying attention to the Candidate refresher classes.

740 & 25: Thanks to the match up of Thallyath and Faxxonth, Narinoa was able to put his beastcrafter skills to use alongside the Healers tending to the weyrlings. He has rediscovered his love for tending to animals and has decided he wants to become a dragonhealer and will try to get the Masters to let him study the new findings.

741 & 26: Spends most of the year looking after the Thallyath clutch and Standing when he can. Continues to dabble with some of the sex drugs and other kinds.

742 & 27: After B'kit and Erebuth are struck by lightning going to Aradissicath's Hatching at the start of the year, Narinoa decides to dedicate himself to dragon healing. In month 3, the Weyrleaders have officially brought back the craft and Narinoa is currently put in charge of Ista's group. He intends to keep trying to Impress as well. It pays off in early month 7 when he finally Impresses to a little blue in Benden.

Growing up on a horse farm had him learning from an early age, though he didn’t officially enter the beastcraft until he turned twelve. He enjoyed assisting where he could and loved the beasts and dedicated his time learning everything he could while at the Hall, though he didn’t much care for the scientific end of things. He continues on in his studies and ends up being tapped soon after his 18th birthday, returning home to help with breeding racers.

Weyrlinghood

A pudgy little dude, Atranth is solid for a blue. His coloration settles nicely on his lines and his body is cracked with a darker blue than his legs. His legs are a blue that has a purple tint to it and is copied along the edges of his wings as well as the tip of his tail. A lighter and brighter blue can be seen along his belly and it almost makes a person want to ruffle it like a cat.

Adulthood

Atranth is still the same solid blue as he was during weyrlinghood though he is less pudgy and more streamlined. He is within the average length for a blue and is just under the maximum. He does look a little stumpy if one is paying close attention to detail as his wings are two feet wider than they should be and his height is around two feet taller than it should be. It doesn’t really detract from his abilities and it does not get in the way of his flight or stamina.

The darker blue saw in his weyrlinghood slips across the majority of his body and the cracks of color have smoothed out. That same blue with purple tints can be seen beneath his wings with an almost twilight look to it. The top of his head and his headknobs are liberally splashed with this color as well as his tail. This same blue darkens in broad stippling on his shoulders and haunches.

Mindvoice

Raspy and smooth, Atranth has a calming voice that soothes rather than abrades.

Personality

Atranth is very compassionate, showing sympathy and concern for anyone who is hurt in some way. He will try to do whatever he can to make them feel better and often makes up little silly jokes to achieve that goal. He tries very hard not to pity people, from N’noa’s mind he understands that people don’t necessarily like to be pitied and is sensitive to this knowledge. Atranth is quite undemanding and N’noa will have to make sure that the blue tells him when things are needed for him from food to oiling. Atranth knows that N’noa is doing important things and does not want to distract his rider from them even if it’s important.

Atranth will do much of the things he does because it feels right, like the best thing to do in the situation. Sometimes he is very astute when it comes to the intentions of other people or dragons and will warn N’noa that something feels off to him. He’ll never be able to tell exactly what it is but it’ll be there at the back of his mind until he forgets about it. Atranth loves to learn new things, he might not remember exactly what those things are but as long as N’noa is there to help him he doesn’t mind. Quiet and predictable, it is unlikely that Atranth will ever fly off the handle for no reason and his calm, soothing presence will do much to assist N’noa when the man is tending injured dragons and people.

Quirks

Habits/Mannerisms: Tippy taps his talons on the stone of his weyr when he’s nervous and tends to try to hide his bulk behind anything he can maybe fit behind.

Likes:
Sunrises: Atranth loves sunrises and will take the time out to appreciate the complexity of its colors. He will often drag N’noa with him to make the man slow down when he needs to.
Stories: Atranth loves listening to stories and will spend hours sitting still with any harper who’s willing to tell him a story. It doesn’t really matter if they’re good stories as longs as they’re being told.
Diving: Atranth will love to do sudden and quick dives during flight. Something akin to the hunting dives of a falcon or hawk, N’noa better hold on to his butt when Atranth drops out of the sky.

Dislikes:
Mess and Clutter: Atranth is a clean dragon insofar as his weyr and couch. He dislikes mess and clutter in his spaces and prefers to have everything put into its place.
Snow: Atranth does not appreciate the beauty of snow. He feels it gets in the way and he doesn’t like how it impedes his movement on the ground.
Trundlebugs: Atranth dislikes trundlebugs more than he cares to admit. He hates the smell that they make but can’t help squishing them when he comes across them much to the dismay of N’noa when their stench hits him in the face.

Strengths:
Orderly: Atranth is orderly and concise. This will come in handy with N’noa’s continued dragon healing education. Atranth’s strength can be utilized to make sure that N’noa’s notes and documentation are exactly where it needs to be.
Imaginative: Atranth is quite clever and imaginative, he loves to tell tales as much as he loves to listen to them. This allows him to be able to help visualize what N’noa needs when the young man is executing his craft.
Honest: Atranth doesn’t really understand dishonesty and prefers to tell the truth in all things.

Flaws:
Naive: Atranth can be a little naive and can be a little gullible when it comes to things he may not know. He will rely on N’noa to make sure that his naivety doesn’t get him too far into trouble.
Pacifist: Atranth prefers not to commit himself to any type of violence, he would much rather hide away from confrontation than deal with it. He’s a lover, not really a fighter.
Perfectionist: Atranth is a stickler for perfection and doesn’t understand why perfection is not something that is always obtainable.

Pet Details

Green Pipsqueak is an adorable firelizard in marbled greens. She's rather independent, going off to visit friends or do whatever it is firelizards do when out of sight regularly but always comes when Narinoa calls for her. When she is around, she's very cuddly with Narinoa and some of his friends but she can also be a chatterbox, chittering away in excitement when something catches her attention.
