General Description:

Wide brown eyes.

Dark brown, nearly black straight hair that is kept a tad on the longer side. When he can tuck his bangs behind his ears, he knows it's time for a trim. Otherwise, it's usually kept close to that length.

Ristandal has a youthful, innocent look about him thanks to a baby face that hosts adorable pouts and wide grins at varying intervals. After years of tending to his dragon, his body finds definition on his slender frame that is quite evident in his arms, though he still can't quite beat that youthful appearance.

General Dressing Style:

He’s very casual with his dressing, preferring comfort or style. Brighter coloured clothes call out to him though he couldn’t tell you why; they simply make him happy.

Likes:

Beadwork: While he has no skills whatsoever in working with glass, R’dal likes to help out by stringing the beads into pretty patterns for necklaces and bracelets.

Bubbles: He may technically be an adult now but he still acts like a five year old when it comes to bubbles. They’re pretty and in a way, calming.

Cuddles: Who doesn’t? They’re great for every mood and nap time is infinitely better with someone else.

Strengths:

Affectionate: It doesn’t matter if you’re dating him or simply a friend, R’dal will cling to you like a wet shirt if he’s in the mood for cuddles or just to have someone close by.

Easy-going: R’dal goes with the flow. He might stick out for one reason or another while doing so but he’s just happy to enjoy what’s out there.

Humorous: R’dal likes laughing and likes to think he’s pretty good with jokes or witty one-liners.

Dislikes:

Dishonesty: There’s no need to lie! Everyone would get along a lot better if people just told the truth.

Blood: He gets a bit squeamish around blood and wounds.

Flaws:

Gullible: While he doesn’t believe every tall tale sent his way, he does have a tendency to fall for the ones that are made to be rather convincing.

Impish: He’s a bit mischievous and some would say he’s annoyingly playful.

He giggles regularly as a somewhat nervous habit.

General Personality:

R’dal is, to put it bluntly, odd. He’s a little quirky with his views on things and finds enjoyment and beauty in places others might not. Taking the time to appreciate everything that’s given him is essential and he doesn’t see the need to rush through life; unless life is demanding it. R’dal does his best to go with the flow, no matter where it takes him. He’s just happy to keep up with it and all its twists and curveballs.

The fact that his dad is a bronzerider does give him some anxiety. There wasn't much pressure to be like M'ris or Impress a bronze as well but R’dal puts it on himself and worries he might be a disappointment if he doesn’t end up like his father. His biggest fear was to never Impress at all. How would that look? Everyone would see his dad as a failure and that stressed the usually perky and carefree teen far too much. Thankfully he did Impress, though to a blue, but his dad was still thrilled which helped calm any lingering doubts R’dal had.

Impressing didn’t change much about him, though. He’s still a bit odd and still does things his own way. Now, however, he has a dragon encouraging him along the unbeaten path. R'dal continues being himself in all his unique ways. He sees situations and people differently than most, but doesn't over-analyze anything, trusting his gut instincts.

Important History:

721 & Born: Ristandal is born.

722-727 & 1-6: Does what normal Weyrbrats do at an early age.

728-730 & 7-9: With more Northerners coming in, a slightly better education than what they could give before is now received.

734 & 13: The mudslide wipes out most of Katila and Ristandal’s world is shaken as he loses people he knows and tries to accept what happens. When the rebuilding begins, he offers a hand and finds that while he’s not the most skilled amongst the crowd, he does okay at it and even kind of enjoys it.

735 & 14: Finally Impresses! Becomes R’dal.

736 & 15: With more Weyrs now officially open, R’dal is assigned to Fort and thankful that his friend, R’dare, is as well.

738 & 17: Spends a lot of time bouncing between home and Ista Weyr to babysit for his youngest half-sibling and getting assigned more tasks as a young bluerider.

740 & 19: It's a bit of an up and down mess but eventually R'dal and Edath are officially named Searchriders! Another mess comes in the form of Nerreh's blue Faxxonth catching Casa's gold Thallyath. But both are friends since they could walk and he fully stands beside them both, lending all of his love and support to them.

742 & 21: In the third month, three days after his brother Mardarian's birthday, most of the family is gathered for food and games when tragedy strikes. A disgruntled drudge poisoned their drinks, making three of them ill but Mardarian drank too much of it to be helped and died.

743 & 22: F'drel is offered a ranked position in the soon to open Igen Weyr. R'dal had thought about moving to High Reaches to keep an eye on his struggling dad, but jumped at the chance to support F'drel and encouraged his friend take the job and that they would both move to Igen at the end of the year.

Details:

While he’s pretty average in the basic skills or reading, writing, and math, R’dal took an interest in wood working thanks to the rebuilding of Katila, though it didn't really carry over into life in the North.

His interest turned to smaller crafts with glasscraft and even leathercraft grabbing his attention for making little bracelets. He's had no formal training in either, mostly pestering crafters here and there and building upon that. He just has fun making pretty things and giving them out to people and after Halomirth's interest, dragons.

Weyrlinghood

A beautiful deep shade of sapphire starts at the tip of Edath’s tail that slowly fades to a lighter shade at the tip of his nose. He’s rather average in shape and size, not finding himself too gangly in the ‘awkward teen’ years of growth before fully maturing.

For the most part, Edath kept the dark sapphire blue though his body is a shade lighter. However, along the pale torso is a splattering of the deeper shade that would look like mud if he were a brown dragon. He’s still rather average in size.

Mindvoice

Deep husky voice that sounds like he’s always flirting.

Personality

Edath is a very friendly dragon and loves to flirt with females of both the dragon and human variety. He’s of the opinion that you should enjoy everything you do and that includes socializing. This makes him rather easy to get along with as he will chat up anyone that approaches him, including humans. He does respect those older than him and of higher rank, leaving him to be a bit more cautious before regaling them with tales.

While he is relaxed and comes across just as silly as his rider, Edath is the one that keeps the pair grounded; or at least he tries to. He never purposely drags R’dal away from his fun or tells him what he is doing is weird or might draw looks since he knows his rider doesn’t care about that. He instead gently guides R’dal back to reality when it seems like he might be getting a bit too carried away and could overlook something. Mostly, though, Edath is content to let R’dal enjoy himself and he enjoys watching his rider be happy.

Quirks

Habits/Mannerisms: Much like his rider, Edath likes physical contact and will cosy up to another dragon without much thought.

Likes:
Sunning: On the beach or on a ledge, Edath is happy to sprawl out in the sun and soak up the warm rays.
Chasing: While not as bad as Veeth when it comes to showing his affection for every green, Edath does enjoy the thrill of the chase, flying after the pretty green and avoiding others that also desire her. He doesn’t enter every Flight, but enough to keep his own appetite at bay.

Dislikes:
Fire: After most of Ista island was ravaged by flame, Edath isn’t a fan of it. He saw the destruction that comes from it and the pain it gives when it touches skin or hide. He keeps a safe distance from even campfires but also keeps a close eye on it to make sure it doesn’t suddenly spring out of control.
