Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

General Description:
Soulful, and of a captivating grey with hints of green, N'mor's eyes are slightly on the smaller side of regular and surrounded by thick, dark blonde lashes. Despite the way they can easily draw someone in, N'mor's eyes rarely give away what thoughts are going on inside his mind. Slightly untidy but well shaped eyebrows arch neatly over them, a few shades darker than his hair. Hair that sits somewhere between brown and reddish, with a ruddy hue that catches the light and highlights in the summer. Despite the preference of many of his fellow riders for the close cropped style, N'mor clearly favours a shaggy cut, keeping his hair long enough to be messy and get in his eyes, but not long enough to actively do anything with. He keeps it well maintained and clean, but refuses to shave it off.
While his eyes are captivating, the thing most people notice off the bat about N’mor is that his right arm is missing. Crushed during the landslide at Katila on the 30.07.234 AL, N’mor lost the limb partway between elbow and shoulder, and as a result, wears the sleeves of that shirt pinned up, when not specially made to be without the sleeve. Now left handed by default, N’mor’s hand is soft from dragon oiling, but nimble and with quick fingers, his handwriting having improved over the Turns, and his nails are often chewed down to a respectable length simply because the idea of getting someone to clip his nails for him is laughably embarrassing, and more than slightly awkward.
Finished growing, N’mor is tall enough, though short for a Pernese. He is well muscled, with long limbs and broad shoulders kept well-muscled by a dutiful dedication to his daily exercises – partly rehabilitation after he lost his arm, and partly pure determination not to be left struggling among his peers – and the requirements of looking after a large bronze dragon. Despite having a good handle on overcoming his disability, N'mor still keeps up his rehabilitation exercises, refusing to let what's left of his arm waste away and make his body, in his opinion, 'look even more unbalanced!'
General Dressing Style:
N'mor dresses tidily and with pride in his appearance, despite what his wind-tossed hair would convince one otherwise. Proud to be a dragonrider, N'mor is never ashamed to don his dragonriding leathers, which are kept neat and clean by both his own standard, and that of his Wingleader. On his own terms, and in general day to day life, N'mor wears loose slacks and a tidy shirt, the colours varying by his mood and what he happens to be up to at any given time. Since moving North again, N'mor was introduced to his Aunt, who is a willing beneficial to dress him in if not the latest fashion, at least the best fitting clothing he could ask for, while his best friend's mum seems to take a great delight in hand crafting clothing for him, as well.
As a result, N'mor finds himself very well dressed and with many more clothes than he actually needs!

Personality
Likes:
T'ryn: Son of R'nd, fellow bronzerider, and N'mor's best friend, T'ryn has done more for N'mor than he will ever be able to repay, all the while without making N'mor feel like an invalid after losing his arms. Friends since they were children in the creche, N'mor would trust T'ryn with his life, and his dragon - and indeed, has done so - and also had a very tight lid on the fact that he was definitely in love with his fellow bronzerider for quite a while there.
Familiarity: N’mor loves routine, and the reassuring knowledge that comes with waking up in the morning and knowing exactly what is expected of him for the upcoming hours. While changes are dealt with without too much issue, N’mor prefers it when things go to plan; he’s had enough excitement in his life thanks to losing his arm to be quite enough.
Music: It would be hard for anyone raised by B'jin not to have a deep respect and taste for music. While N’mor is not overly fond of the sound of his own singing voice (though it is very good), he has a love of listening to both instruments and the sound of singing, especially his father. While he doesn’t make a habit of it, N’mor has been known to wring out the occasional song, though he has yet to make any of them public or even share them with friends or father. While N'mor will occasionally sing for his dragon, if badgered enough, he hasn't let anyone else hear him sing in Turns before his relationship with Z'rin. Even then, he rarely sings for the bluerider.
Strengths:
Perseverance: N’mor is clearly and easily defined as steadfast, always working forward towards a final goal, despite how difficult the progress may be. His tenacity wasn’t something that was obvious about him until the loss of his arm, where the characteristic became a highlighter for the young man’s pure need to be independent and capable of taking care not only of himself, but also of his newly bonded dragon.
Integrity: Honest and true spoken, N’mor rarely speaks unless needed and when he does open his mouth, what falls from his lips is always truthful and honest. He takes pride in being an example by which others can strive to be like, and is never shy to step forward even when what he is relaying is bad news or tattling on individuals he knows to be out of line as he feels someone needs to do it. N’mor always takes responsibility for his actions and his words, unafraid to claim his own mistakes as well as take the praise for tasks well done.
Leadership: Being quiet spoken and honest, N’mor doesn’t so much have the charisma for leadership as he does the steady head and quiet authority of someone who knows how to act in an emergency and keep control of a situation. He isn’t afraid of much of anything, and his ability to keep his emotions and reactions under wraps when doing emergency drills or during literal emergencies makes him a natural candidate for leadership when required.
Dislikes:
Pity: The surest way to anger N'mor is to offer him pity, particularly in regards to the loss of his right arm. While he is missing the limb, and indeed has some struggle with day to day life as a result, he has no intention of taking handouts from those that surround him, and he certainly doesn't want anybody's pity!
Blue Dragons & their riders: While N’mor has never given any explanation as to why, he has a great dislike of blue dragons and is especially mistrustful of those who are bonded to women. It is believed by those closest to the bronzerider that his mistrust stems from some situation with his mother’s blue, but no answer has ever been given one way or another, with N’mor answering any such questions with a stony look and cool silence. The sole exception to this is his mate, Z'rin, and N'mor still has no idea how the bluerider managed to wrangle his way into N'mor's heart. But it is further proof that blueriders are dangerous.
Liars and Cheats: there are a lot of things N’mor will ignore, but liars and cheats are people that will quickly gain N’mor’s attention, and not in a good way. He has no qualms about turning tail and tattling on wingmates or classmates that have big mouths about shirking their duties, or that he catches out, and he cares not what they think of him for turning them in.
Flaws:
Mistrustful: N’mor is usually simply written off as quiet and reserved, but in reality he is deeply mistrustful of other people and their motives, especially those who are bonded to blue dragons. Keeping quiet and out of mind, N’mor keeps a watchful eye and waits for the people around him to prove his mistrust of them worth point; just because they haven’t yet, doesn’t mean they won’t. Because they will, eventually.
Arrogant: While N’mor won’t outright go around telling people he is better than them, the young bronzerider has a clear opinion on most matters, and his tendency to be right about things does nothing to curb the arrogant ego that is hiding under the surface of this quiet watcher.
Prejudiced: N’mor is a quiet sexist, feeling that the proper place for women is doing their womanly duties, and not Impressing dragons that aren’t gold, or running around in positions of rank and authority. It takes a lot for a woman to win N’mor’s respect when she is outside of her traditional role, and if she happens to be bonded to a blue dragon, she has almost no hope of winning him over, no matter how hard she works. He also absolutely abhors the notion of sleeping with women outside the requirements of Flight, though he keeps such thoughts to himself and his closest friends.
Habits & Mannerisms:
Being a proud young man, he walks with his head held high and his shoulders proud; he's never one to shuffle along looking at the ground or avoiding attention though he won't actively seek it, either. N'mor is incredibly quiet spoken, and only chooses to speak up when he feels that what he has to say is of importance. In combination with his proud stance, N'mor can command a crowd and demand attention without having to actually work hard at it.
General Personality:
At his core, N’mor is a traditionalist; he likes both stability and consistency and believes that the way things have been done has worked, and will continue to work, and as such there is no need to change or move away from traditional methods. Despite – or perhaps because of – having a female bluerider for a mother, N’mor is far more of the belief that women should only ride gold than he will ever be comfortable with them on green and blue, especially young girls like his little sister, whom he has done his best to be a good big brother to, and set a proper example for.
Valuing hard work and responsibility, N’mor is someone who puts his head down to get tasks done in a timely manner, making sure they are done correctly and to the best of his ability. Unable to abide by laziness in others, N’mor will be quick to cast dark looks towards wingmates who are slacking off, and has been known to frown disapprovingly when his father’s laziness is mentioned; N’mor working hard to get away from such a shadow though he has no issue with the responsibility his father picked up as an active Weyrlingmaster, taking pride in the fact that the man brought both N’mor and his dragon, and their entire clutch, safely through Weyrlinghood.
N’mor is far from a socialite, being a quiet and withdrawn young man who only speaks up when required or when he feels what he has to say is important. As a result, his friends are few and far between, but nonetheless, N’mor takes pride in always keeping his promises to others, especially his friends or those of a higher rank than himself. A broken promise is something N’mor finds shameful, and will mull over for weeks at a time on the rare occasions when he fails to uphold his word. Additionally, N’mor has a need for people to play by the rules, though those rules aren’t always the social norms; he has expectations for each rank and each colour, and when they fall outside of those expectations he can become confused and flustered.
Schedules and routine are important to N’mor, who finds it easier to function when he knows what is expected of him, and when. A large part of this came about after he lost his arm, and found that some tasks that once were completed with ease are now so much more difficult, and a lot of simple things can’t be done at all by himself anymore. Because of this, N’mor finds sudden changes to his day to day living both unacceptable and frustrating, often causing the young man’s mood to sour with little warning. Hand in hand with his daily schedules, N’mor loves structure; he loves knowing what fits where, and the why of it all. He needs to know his rank, and how he fits in with the other wingriders of his assignment, as well as how they all slot into the daily life of the Weyr both on the ground, and in the air.
