The rim of the extinct volcano that houses Igen Weyr has been eroded into sharp and interesting patterns by the constant wind across the desert that stretches to the southwest. East across the river lie vast grassy plains. It is intensely bright at the Weyr with clouds a rare and welcome sight. If it were occupied, most of the activity would have to take place in the cool evening since during the day since even the lake wouldn't be safe, acting like a mirror to reflect the merciless sun back in the eyes of bathers.

Igen Hold is located on the eastern edge of the great desert where it overlooks a rock high above the wide yet shallow and muddy Igen River. It is due to this terrain that rice is one of their largest exports with ovines, horses, tropical fruits, and a few types of gems close behind as they are also a major trading hub. Population in the region is sparse and mostly found along the coastline or to the northwest of the Hold in the grassy plains with no cotholds directly near the main Hold due to the river flooding regularly. Due to the dry heat, burnoose robes and broad-brimmed hats are popular, with some holders adding veils to block the sun and dust. Like Ista, hammocks are popular and furs are not needed. There are also deep caverns under the Hold that are filled with ice and snow regularly once more by dragons to help keep food from spoiling and to create frozen treats like sorbet and ice cream. Gathers at the Hold are slow during the day but pick up at night when it is cooler and enjoyment can be had. |

The Hold is located in a mountainous outcropping on the southeastern tip of the region. The land is grassy plains with only a smattering of trees which makes it perfect for raising large herds. They specialize in horses, bovine, porcine, and to a lesser extent, ovine.
It's most famous landmark is the Red Butte, an igneous and ridged dome of massive size. Dragonriders took to using it to help weyrlings learn how to travel between. No posts have been made in this forum.
