R’nya nodded slightly at her words, reassured by them and finding them fitting. “To forget them, would be to forget those that lost their lives, and those that gave them.” He murmured gently; nothing could be less proper than to forget those that gave their lives trying to save others, and of course, they should always remember those that were lost in the tragic event. No, it should not be forgotten, but nor should anyone carry around the weight of the disaster as if they had been the very one that had pushed the mountain down upon them.
A quiet breath was drawn in at the admittance that was given life, and R’nya paused for several moments, wondering how it was that he should respond to that. The immediate response was that at least Ameris still had her son; Peorrya had not been so lucky. But that was unbecoming and Ameris could no more help that her fellow goldrider had lost her child, then she could help that she had lost the father of hers. He would not dump that guilt upon the already tortured girl.
What to say, though? R’nya was not one to apologise for things he had not done nor caused, and he did not feel Ameris was the type to take such apologies. Just as he had told her that she could not carry the weight of the world, neither was R’nya inclined to do so. He was, however, sorry for her loss though he did not feel like attempting to phrase that for her. “Does he know?” R’nya didn’t think the boy knew who his father was – certainly he didn’t, though that may have been more of a move on Ameris’ part to spare the other rider the glowers R’nya was known to give those he didn’t approve of.
