Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Appearance
Eyes: Ei'de's narrow eyes are an expressive dark brown in color. They're a little small for his face, but often warm and welcoming to any who meet his gaze. His eyebrows tend to have a mind of his own, bushy and thick when he doesn't trim them, but Zuri isn't afraid to compare them to forests, so he does what he must.
Hair: He has dark brown hair that has a curly life of its own. He tries to keep it cropped shorter, but doesn't like to have a clean shaven head. He will deal with helmet hair, thank you very much! Humidity has it puffing like a sunflower searching for sunlight, and honestly, it doesn't bother Ei'de in the least. It has character… It's also just hair.
Height: He stands a little shorter than the average pernese man at 5'9" (1.75m).
General Appearance: In his eyes, Ei'de is just the average man on Pern trying to make his way through the world. He isn't particularly bulky; he isn't particularly thin. He just is. Oh, he could complain that his nose is a little big, and his ears are a little small, and his toes look a little stubby with the size of his feet, but they're not what make him who he is. They're just a part of him, and he doesn't give it much more thought than that.
He's never been a lazy man, and he keeps himself in some form of shape. He does have a dragon to take care of, after all, and he can't be letting himself go when he has her to take care of. He is a very hard worker, and the work that he's done throughout his life have already made his hands dry and calloused. His fingers are long and nimble. He has a strong back and good legs. He really doesn't believe that he has anything to complain about.

Mostly, he follows the rules that his mother drilled into his head when he was a child. His clothing has to have been washed recently. General character traits: In Ei'de's eyes, he's simply your average guy. He's no better or no worse than anyone else and he doesn't like putting himself on a pedestal. There are always people who will do better things than him, and there are people who do worse. Frankly, he's quite okay with being average and doesn't really know how to deal with anyone trying to tell him otherwise. He is an extremely humble person when it comes to his own skills. He's that friendly neighbour next door that feeds your dog when you're out of town, and he doesn't really want for more than that. Where some of this might be a slight lack of self-confidence, the rest is because he believes he is very comfortable in who he feels who he is at this point in his life, that he's in no rush to step into someone else's spotlight. He excels instead at recognizing the strengths of others, instead of the strengths in himself.

Creepy crawlies - He's not really a fan of anything that creeps or slithers. He grew up on a farm, so he's used to seeing them, but if he can avoid it, he totally will. He's very glad that he got beyond the stage of yelling when a spinner dropped down on his head.
Thunder and lightning - It's the lightning more so than the thunder, but wherever there's thunder, there tends to be lightning. When he was a kid, he had a near accident with lightning striking near where he stood as he left his home. He felt the lingering electricity and it was enough to shake him to his core. He will usually try not to fly if there's a storm unless he has to, and will excuse himself if he feels himself getting jittery because of thunder. He's definitely pretty shy about his fear.
Confrontation - Not that anyone likes confrontation, but he particularly dislikes it. It puts him on edge, makes his get snappy and petty. In an ideal world, no one would be fighting, and while he's well aware that's not the case, if people could just keep that stuff quiet or between themselves, he'd appreciate it. While he's really fairly even keel, he tends to back out and let people deal with their anger alone and come back to talk once they're done. He'll do what he feels he has to if he has to, but that's his first choice.
Strengths:
Observant - He is very watchful, and he picks up on more than he gives himself credit for. He isn't the brightest crayon in the box sometimes, but he has a good eye for noticing what people are good at, or if he should approach someone gently, or if he can be a bit louder and rambunctious. It helps him adapt to a situation.
Bulletproof - He's not someone to get stressed out and choke up very easily. Sure he doesn't like confrontation and can be a little cold from it, but he doesn't lose his temper easily, and if shit hits the fan, he'll try and think of what he can do instead of focusing on what he can't.
Listener - He's that ear that people can prattle on to for as long as they need. He might not always agree, but he will listen and once you've had your say, he'll try and offer how he sees things from his point of view. It's not always the best advice, it's pretty hit or miss, but he will make sure that people know that they're heard. He'll even crawl out of bed in the middle of the night if it's needed.
Flaws:
Gullible - While he isn't always overtly gullible, he does try to take people based on their word and that will sometimes leave him with hurt feelings or being hoodwinked by someone. He will bend backwards to make people happy and it occasionally results in him resenting that trait in himself when he finds out someone played him for a fool.
Hopeless Romantic - Another not strong flaw, but Ei'de is attracted to people rather easily. He has a type and when he sees it, he goes a little mushy. It tends to result in him making a fool out of himself and then having to recover from it, but at least he always has a unique ice breaker!
Hardheaded - When he knows a way of doing something, he tends to trust and believe in his way over an idea that someone else has. He's a stickler for habit and can sometimes be a little dismissive until proven that he's wrong multiple times. This also comes in terms of accepting help or asking for it when he thinks that he should be able to do it on his own. It's a problem, and it causes more ruffles than it smoothes, which doesn't help the situation from escalating over time.
Insecure - When it comes to him stepping in the spotlight, or making that commitment to someone else, Ei'de is going to get cold feet more than he steps up and does it. It's not usually the big situations, but the more personal ones that will leave him on his own. He'll let his person of interest go with someone else instead of saying that he loved them. He'll not step up for that wingsecond rank even though he knows what he's doing and Zurinath believes them more than capable. It's that fear of failure or letting people down, and he swallows it and hides it with the best of his ability. He's a simple holder boy… Who is he to want to be a hero?

Scars & Markings: Zurinath's hide is a gradual shift of colors. Her face and tail are darker. Her front hands lighter than the back. Her wings have dark splotches around their extremities with a splattering of a seafoam-creamy green on top. If one looks closely enough, there is a soft light green speckling in her wings, and she has a few light freckles beneath both of her eyes. Her ridges are the same pale color as the freckles beneath her eyes.
Weyrlinghood: As a hatchling, Zurinath wasn't the most elegant looking of dragons. She had a stubby tail, large headknobs, small nostrils, and feet about two sizes too large. The only thing slightly proportionate to her size were her wings. While some dragons even out throughout their growth, Zurinath's growth spurts were in bits and bobs here and there, uneven and ungainly. She was a chubby little dragon that only a mother could love, and truly an ungainly sight, but she strutted as if she was the best thing since pockets.
Adulthood: As she finished growing, Zurinath never quite grew into all her limbs. Her legs were long and spindly, making her rather tall for her color range, with delicate ankles and rather large feet. Her length was almost all in her body, with her tail being rather shorter than expected. Her wingspan stretched above what was proportionate for her length. She has long headknobs, and sharp features along her face. She is a fairly sturdy built green, though her wings show that she's a sprinter and not a marathon flier. Her ridges are slightly elongated and all together she looks a bit like a pin cushion, and she has the attitude to prove it.
Mindvoice: Zurinath has a very soft lilt to her cadence. Her voice is generally soft, like someone trying to wrap you up in silk, though it feels a bit like a bucket of cold water when she's mischievous. While she's normally soft spoken, she isn't afraid to turn the volume on max and have a good time. She's very bubbly when excited, and can sound a bit like nails on chalkboard when furious, but all in all, she's like a background noise that people can't quite help but focus on.

She's as smart as a whip with absolutely nothing to turn her attention on, so instead, she turns her attention to mischief. And the subjects? Oh, just the people, and dragons around her, and most definitely Ei'de. The trouble she causes is all mostly harmless, telling candidates scary (and fake) stories about the Weyr, stealing another dragon's herdbeast, dropping a few tunnelsnakes into that other rider's weyr. It's all meant in good fun. She's a dragon meant to be kept busy rolling around with very little to do outside of her training.
She's notorious for getting into everyone's personal space, and she likes to drape herself over other dragons or rest her chin on a person's head, when they're nearby. She's terribly nosey, but it's mostly from the fact that she takes an interest in any little tidbit that people will give her. The more interesting it is, the better it is. She's a sweet talker when there's something that she wants, and she's absolutely shameless about it.
She is a very hardworking dragon, and she has more ambition than she knows what to do with. The skies aren't her limits in her mind, and she'll do whatever it takes to get there.
When it comes to her rider, however, she's terrible. Not in the mean kind, but rather in a way that she finds entertaining. She has her rider's keen observation, but instead of fumbling with words, for Zurinath it comes easily, and with great power comes great opportunities at tormenting her poor bonded. When Rede tries to talk to cute people, Zurinath is always there with a wonderful opportunity. Struggling with a word, call her punctual! Is she questioning your compliment, why not say you meant plucky? When Rede does catch on that she's not being helpful at all, she'll gleefully cackle away into her corner.
She's just as likely to help him as she is to get him to blush, and it's all just in good fun for her. It's not her fault that he struggles to think on his feet, because she most certainly can!
Habits/Mannerisms: When she thinks she's being hilarious (which when is she not?), she has this loud, physical obnoxious laugh. It's a mixture between a bark and a honk-like hiccup, and if she finds something even more amusing, she'll start snorting and start cackling with high pitch noises.
She also has a habit of staring at people when she's trying to decide whether or not they're worth her time. She'll occasionally tilt her head from side to side but she does look like she's looking down her nose at you.
Likes:
Bubblypies - Especially the blueberry kind. Zuri has a sweet tooth a mile long, even though she tries to decline it. Bubbly pies are some of her favorite treats and it's definitely anyone's way to get out of her pranking you when she's planning something.
Drills - She loves working almost as much as she loves bubblypies. Give her a task, and she'll set herself to a job as fast as a whirlwind and leave nothing in her wake. She is extremely goal focused and doesn't like to be without anything to do.
Snowfall - There's something captivating about the way the snow falls, and how the flakes dance and twirl in the air. Whether it's because winter tends to be her moment of zen, a good storm (even heavy rain will do) enrapts her and allows her to be still for a little while. They're especially her favorite times when it's her and her rider sitting at the edge of their weyr watching the world around them.
Dislikes:
Bathes - Unless there's an itchy spot in her hide, Zurinath finds them to be a waste of time. She's expected to just stand there and let it happen? So very boring. She doesn't mind being dirty, and she will show anyone who has anything to say about it where to shove it. They can kiss her tailfork for all she cares.
Perfume and strong smells - She can deal with a herdbeast carcass; she's a dragon, it smells like food! But when people start laying on strong perfumes or someone is cooking numbweed or boiling fellis, it's guaranteed that she's nowhere to be found downwind of that. It reeks. She can smell it for days. She'll make sure you know about it too!
Gathers - While it can be a good thing because it brings new people with new stories, most of the time, Zurinath finds them to be an absolute drag. Dragons can't mingle among the people in the crowd. People don't sneak her bubblypies. Instead, it's a few hours where Rede demands that she stays out of trouble. It only gets exciting for her if he tries to flirt.
Strengths:
Ambitious - Strong willed, ambitious there is very little that this green doesn't want to achieve. Her ambition gives her not only the skills to keep pushing to be better, but also the tools to recognize where she might make some mistakes. However, she's not sure if she would be satisfied if the world was hers… What would she want then?
Outspoken - If Zurinath has something to say, she's going to make sure that you hear it. Normally she'll say something thoughtful, or an idea that she's been ruminating on for hours. Other times, expect her just keeping herself busy… And perhaps at your expense!
Calculating - She has good wits about her, and she tends to know when she's pushing her limits. While most of this applies to people and other dragons, this can also be turned to tactical calculations when in drills and in threadfall. Her mind buzzes a hundred miles a minute. It's almost a shame that she's limited by her dragon's mind capacity.

Dismissive - It's Ei'de that's more of the bleeding heart. Zuranith is really only out there with an interest in her, her rider, and perhaps her wing. She's a team player when she has to be, but if someone gets their feelings hurt because of something she said, she's not likely to be apologetic about it.
Covetous - While it goes hand in hand with ambition, Zuranith wants so many things that she can't have. Some of it is materialistic. She enjoys having pretty things, but understands that Ei'de can't afford them. Other times, it's wanting the ranks that people have, the liberties that people have, and sometimes in the quieter parts of her mind, she'd wish that perhaps Ei'de had a bit more ambition of his own.
Wild - Zuri is a handful, of that there's no doubt. When she sets her mind on something, she's a force of nature, but it also means that she's hard to hold back if she's going off course. She can be a valuable asset, but she can also be a timer counting down to some sort of disaster. She's listends best when you've earned her trust, but until then, reining her in is part of the problem.

Observant - He is very watchful, and he picks up on more than he gives himself credit for. He isn't the brightest crayon in the box sometimes, but he has a good eye for noticing what people are good at, or if he should approach someone gently, or if he can be a bit louder and rambunctious. It helps him adapt to a situation.
Bulletproof - He's not someone to get stressed out and choke up very easily. Sure he doesn't like confrontation and can be a little cold from it, but he doesn't lose his temper easily, and if shit hits the fan, he'll try and think of what he can do instead of focusing on what he can't.
Listener - He's that ear that people can prattle on to for as long as they need. He might not always agree, but he will listen and once you've had your say, he'll try and offer how he sees things from his point of view. It's not always the best advice, it's pretty hit or miss, but he will make sure that people know that they're heard. He'll even crawl out of bed in the middle of the night if it's needed.
Flaws:
Gullible - While he isn't always overtly gullible, he does try to take people based on their word and that will sometimes leave him with hurt feelings or being hoodwinked by someone. He will bend backwards to make people happy and it occasionally results in him resenting that trait in himself when he finds out someone played him for a fool.
Hopeless Romantic - Another not strong flaw, but Ei'de is attracted to people rather easily. He has a type and when he sees it, he goes a little mushy. It tends to result in him making a fool out of himself and then having to recover from it, but at least he always has a unique ice breaker!
Hardheaded - When he knows a way of doing something, he tends to trust and believe in his way over an idea that someone else has. He's a stickler for habit and can sometimes be a little dismissive until proven that he's wrong multiple times. This also comes in terms of accepting help or asking for it when he thinks that he should be able to do it on his own. It's a problem, and it causes more ruffles than it smoothes, which doesn't help the situation from escalating over time.
Insecure - When it comes to him stepping in the spotlight, or making that commitment to someone else, Ei'de is going to get cold feet more than he steps up and does it. It's not usually the big situations, but the more personal ones that will leave him on his own. He'll let his person of interest go with someone else instead of saying that he loved them. He'll not step up for that wingsecond rank even though he knows what he's doing and Zurinath believes them more than capable. It's that fear of failure or letting people down, and he swallows it and hides it with the best of his ability. He's a simple holder boy… Who is he to want to be a hero?

Background story:
- Born and raised in a small farm on the outskirts of a minor Hold. He was the 5th child, and the last boy born, followed by his sister three turns later. He was close to his siblings (as close as he can get, at least), and had a generally pretty regular childhood. Got into trouble, played some pranks, teased his sister, complained when she got all new clothes and he got Eilyde's hand me downs, but started to learn to appreciate what he had when he was 7 and they went through a bad harvest and they had to tighten their belts.
- He was 9 when he was nearly struck by lightning. He was outside playing in the field. It struck the tree near him, but he was close, very close. It left a mark, and for a while as a kid as soon as the temperature started to drop on a hot day, it was enough to make him go home. Oh, he'd joke about the experience, but it wasn't something he ever really talked to anyone about. He didn't want to be teased.
- Crushed on a [person] when he was 12. Tried to be smooth. Was really not smooth. "Your face looks nice." Didn't win them over, but his blushing meant that they held hands. Score!
- He was 15 when he was [action] for the Weyr. His time there was very different than what he was used to, but he made do.
- Impressed Zurinath at 17. She stumbled out of her shell, tormented some of the weyrlings, and then almost threw herself into his lap because he dared to be looking at a bronze instead. She wanted none of that.
- Weyrlinghood was… difficult. Zuri is a handful, and she's such a whirlwind and he's adjusting. Also, she's terrible and he doesn't know how to live with her. He has a harder time adapting to the dragon in his head than he should, but he gets it eventually.
- Graduates somewhere in the middle. Not at the top with distinction, not the last to be tapped into a wing, he really shouldn't complain but there was this tiny part of him that had hoped that dragonrider would be so easily like it was in the songs.
- Crushed on [person 2] at 21. Thought he was doing really well until he realized that Zuri wasn't helping him get the girl but making him make a fool of himself. The relationship didn't last long once they started dating a turn later, but he now knew the extent that his dragon would go through.

Appearance
Length: 26 feet
Height: 15 feet
Wingspan: 42 feet
Scars & Markings: Zurinath's hide is a gradual shift of colors. Her face and tail are darker. Her front hands lighter than the back. Her wings have dark splotches around their extremities with a splattering of a seafoam-creamy green on top. If one looks closely enough, there is a soft light green speckling in her wings, and she has a few light freckles beneath both of her eyes. Her ridges are the same pale color as the freckles beneath her eyes.
Weyrlinghood: As a hatchling, Zurinath wasn't the most elegant looking of dragons. She had a stubby tail, large headknobs, small nostrils, and feet about two sizes too large. The only thing slightly proportionate to her size were her wings. While some dragons even out throughout their growth, Zurinath's growth spurts were in bits and bobs here and there, uneven and ungainly. She was a chubby little dragon that only a mother could love, and truly an ungainly sight, but she strutted as if she was the best thing since pockets.
Adulthood: As she finished growing, Zurinath never quite grew into all her limbs. Her legs were long and spindly, making her rather tall for her color range, with delicate ankles and rather large feet. Her length was almost all in her body, with her tail being rather shorter than expected. Her wingspan stretched above what was proportionate for her length. She has long headknobs, and sharp features along her face. She is a fairly sturdy built green, though her wings show that she's a sprinter and not a marathon flier. Her ridges are slightly elongated and all together she looks a bit like a pin cushion, and she has the attitude to prove it.
Mindvoice: Zurinath has a very soft lilt to her cadence. Her voice is generally soft, like someone trying to wrap you up in silk, though it feels a bit like a bucket of cold water when she's mischievous. While she's normally soft spoken, she isn't afraid to turn the volume on max and have a good time. She's very bubbly when excited, and can sound a bit like nails on chalkboard when furious, but all in all, she's like a background noise that people can't quite help but focus on.
General character traits: If Zurinath could describe herself as one thing, it's bored. She's as smart as a whip with absolutely nothing to turn her attention on, so instead, she turns her attention to mischief. And the subjects? Oh, just the people, and dragons around her, and most definitely Ei'de. The trouble she causes is all mostly harmless, telling candidates scary (and fake) stories about the Weyr, stealing another dragon's herdbeast, dropping a few tunnelsnakes into that other rider's weyr. It's all meant in good fun. She's a dragon meant to be kept busy rolling around with very little to do outside of her training.
She's notorious for getting into everyone's personal space, and she likes to drape herself over other dragons or rest her chin on a person's head, when they're nearby. She's terribly nosey, but it's mostly from the fact that she takes an interest in any little tidbit that people will give her. The more interesting it is, the better it is. She's a sweet talker when there's something that she wants, and she's absolutely shameless about it.
She is a very hardworking dragon, and she has more ambition than she knows what to do with. The skies aren't her limits in her mind, and she'll do whatever it takes to get there.
When it comes to her rider, however, she's terrible. Not in the mean kind, but rather in a way that she finds entertaining. She has her rider's keen observation, but instead of fumbling with words, for Zurinath it comes easily, and with great power comes great opportunities at tormenting her poor bonded. When Rede tries to talk to cute people, Zurinath is always there with a wonderful opportunity. Struggling with a word, call her punctual! Is she questioning your compliment, why not say you meant plucky? When Rede does catch on that she's not being helpful at all, she'll gleefully cackle away into her corner.
She's just as likely to help him as she is to get him to blush, and it's all just in good fun for her. It's not her fault that he struggles to think on his feet, because she most certainly can!

Habits/Mannerisms: When she thinks she's being hilarious (which when is she not?), she has this loud, physical obnoxious laugh. It's a mixture between a bark and a honk-like hiccup, and if she finds something even more amusing, she'll start snorting and start cackling with high pitch noises.
She also has a habit of staring at people when she's trying to decide whether or not they're worth her time. She'll occasionally tilt her head from side to side but she does look like she's looking down her nose at you.
Likes:
Bubblypies - Especially the blueberry kind. Zuri has a sweet tooth a mile long, even though she tries to decline it. Bubbly pies are some of her favorite treats and it's definitely anyone's way to get out of her pranking you when she's planning something.
Drills - She loves working almost as much as she loves bubblypies. Give her a task, and she'll set herself to a job as fast as a whirlwind and leave nothing in her wake. She is extremely goal focused and doesn't like to be without anything to do.
Snowfall - There's something captivating about the way the snow falls, and how the flakes dance and twirl in the air. Whether it's because winter tends to be her moment of zen, a good storm (even heavy rain will do) enrapts her and allows her to be still for a little while. They're especially her favorite times when it's her and her rider sitting at the edge of their weyr watching the world around them.
Dislikes:
Bathes - Unless there's an itchy spot in her hide, Zurinath finds them to be a waste of time. She's expected to just stand there and let it happen? So very boring. She doesn't mind being dirty, and she will show anyone who has anything to say about it where to shove it. They can kiss her tailfork for all she cares.
Perfume and strong smells - She can deal with a herdbeast carcass; she's a dragon, it smells like food! But when people start laying on strong perfumes or someone is cooking numbweed or boiling fellis, it's guaranteed that she's nowhere to be found downwind of that. It reeks. She can smell it for days. She'll make sure you know about it too!
Gathers - While it can be a good thing because it brings new people with new stories, most of the time, Zurinath finds them to be an absolute drag. Dragons can't mingle among the people in the crowd. People don't sneak her bubblypies. Instead, it's a few hours where Rede demands that she stays out of trouble. It only gets exciting for her if he tries to flirt.
Strengths:
Ambitious - Strong willed, ambitious there is very little that this green doesn't want to achieve. Her ambition gives her not only the skills to keep pushing to be better, but also the tools to recognize where she might make some mistakes. However, she's not sure if she would be satisfied if the world was hers… What would she want then?
Outspoken - If Zurinath has something to say, she's going to make sure that you hear it. Normally she'll say something thoughtful, or an idea that she's been ruminating on for hours. Other times, expect her just keeping herself busy… And perhaps at your expense!
Calculating - She has good wits about her, and she tends to know when she's pushing her limits. While most of this applies to people and other dragons, this can also be turned to tactical calculations when in drills and in threadfall. Her mind buzzes a hundred miles a minute. It's almost a shame that she's limited by her dragon's mind capacity.
Flaws:
Dismissive - It's Ei'de that's more of the bleeding heart. Zuranith is really only out there with an interest in her, her rider, and perhaps her wing. She's a team player when she has to be, but if someone gets their feelings hurt because of something she said, she's not likely to be apologetic about it.
Covetous - While it goes hand in hand with ambition, Zuranith wants so many things that she can't have. Some of it is materialistic. She enjoys having pretty things, but understands that Ei'de can't afford them. Other times, it's wanting the ranks that people have, the liberties that people have, and sometimes in the quieter parts of her mind, she'd wish that perhaps Ei'de had a bit more ambition of his own.
Wild - Zuri is a handful, of that there's no doubt. When she sets her mind on something, she's a force of nature, but it also means that she's hard to hold back if she's going off course. She can be a valuable asset, but she can also be a timer counting down to some sort of disaster. She's listends best when you've earned her trust, but until then, reining her in is part of the problem.
