The first half of the evening had been quite entertaining, and despite his initial nerves, K'dar had found that all of his practice pretending to be someone important to Yfris's family was paying off. He was even capable of being charming whenever he did speak, though he mostly just listened to the lords, ladies, and other guests that Yfris had invited. He even smoothly handled introducing Mylo as his sister once people asked if it was scandalous to bring her to one of "these sorts" of parties. A casual shrug followed by a statement that he wasn't ashamed of his sister and was sure they could both find their own separate entertainment without meddling with each other's affairs. And then he found out that Mylorah already knew most of the other guests and had to remind himself that he didn't want to think about the very distinct and likely possibility that she and Yfris had already slept with each other. He was trying to be good after all and this was fine, it was just a party. They threw parties in the Weyr often enough.
But then dinner was done and K'dar was beginning to second guess his decisions, but it was far too late to change his mind. Why couldn't he have invited Weslyn? Because he was an idiot. You are not an idiot. There was a pause before Tiberuth added, Necessarily. Great, even his dragon was judging him now. You are just trying to be supportive of your sister's casual views. And at least you have a plan to avoid her. He supposed that was true. He immediately turned to Mylorah and held up his own mask, a rather plain black leather item that spread from the sides of his face slightly with frills almost like a pair of dragon wings. "Remember, this is my mask. Show me yours again and we will just avoid each other during the party."
At least that was how he hoped it would go. Who knew what sorts of things Yfris would have him drink? "Oh, and remember if someone hits me I probably asked for it," K'dar quietly added as his cheeks only turned a faint shade redder. She'd been oddly supportive of him since he'd told her a few of his own secrets, so the thought of Mylo seeing him in a compromising position wasn't as worrisome as some of his other concerns. He'd probably just have to remind Yfris that he didn't need more than the mildest drugs to relax, though he was sure he'd be filled with as many whiskey sours as the lordling could fit into him until he no longer cared about the taste of anything.
One more deep breath to steady himself and he gave Mylorah a smile as he finished pulling on his mask. "Well let's go then. I can offer you my arm like a fancy gentleman lord if you want, or you can just be free to dance and have fun." K'dar already knew where the party would be, had seen the entrance to the party bunker tucked away in Yfris's room a few times before when he'd visited, so he wasn't worried about leading the way. Hopefully he'd run into Yfris first though so he could figure out what he was going to do from there.
