Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

[[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]]

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 03, 740 AL

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are getting a lot of rain, thunderstorms, and cloudy days. Grass is growing, flowers flowering, and baby animals popping up all over the place! Yay spring!

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

True freedom was something rarely obtained for a creature that was literally dependent upon another from the first breath it took outside of the shell. Larrikith, like her dragon brethren, was no exception. Bonded to B'jin mere moments after her Hatching, she had had to search something shocking to find the young man, sitting as he had been upon the stands, recording the happenings for Weyr Records, in exchange for (apparently) a dragon of his own. That had been an interesting day, and Larrikith had greatly enjoyed it. But then, like her rider, Larrikith really did tend to enjoy most things.

It's just that she expressed her joy through sarcasm and cutting remarks, name calling, and abuse. But B'jin knew she loved him, so that was all that really mattered, in the end. Wasn't it?

At any rate, the dragon in question was greatly enjoying a flight without hindrance, human or otherwise. B'jin was sitting on the beach, where Larrikith had deposited him, while he worked on the shore line on the flying leathers that needed to be recreated.  After Larrikith's unscheduled swim on the beach of Candidate Isle in the late summer of 230, the leathers she had been wearing at the time had become a touch salty and wet. They'd managed to survive until now, and B'jin had decided it was time to replace them. Larrikith, bored with lazing on the beach, had mumbled something to her rider before pushing off in a wave of sand and taken to the skies.

The wind, up high, was stronger than down low, but the thermals were warm and carried Larrikith's small size and light weight easily. Small dragon that she was, Larrikith floated like a bird on green membranes as she slowly began to circle the large mountain that sheltered Katila Weyr from the vast coastline that would lead to the ocean, and further more, to the North. Larrikith had no desire to head to the Northern beach line; instead, she altered her wings and tail, and flew towards a rocky cliff on the mountain, sitting near the top and landed lightly in a flutter of wings. The mountaintop was bare, rocks and a stray strangled tree. In the winter, it became capped in snow, but for now, it was cold and clear and the sun was warm on her hide, despite the heavy wind that was rushing over her lithe body.

Standing with her wings folded tightly to her spine, Larrikith craned her neck to look down, staring at the mountain side, and far below, the settlement that was Katila Weyr.

Larrikith!

Ronarth's greeting was pleasantly enthusiastic. The bronze appeared several seconds later, his stocky body flashing into existence from the void of between. He'd watched from a lower crag as the green rose skyward, drifting away into the mountains without her rider to guide her. As it happened, Ronarth was in a similar position.

D'ren was asleep. He'd worked all day, dealing first with paperwork and then with a meeting concerning future threadfighting drills. A large lunch accompanied by a killer headache had knocked the bronzerider right out. He currently rested in his hut, wrapped in a thick blanket in spite of the heat.

Ronarth clung to a particularly jagged outcropping, clutching the jagged surface with his claws and wrapping his tail and wings around the stones to hold himself in place. He twined his neck towards Larrikith and crooned a gentle greeting. His eyes flickered in lazy shades of green. He was bored and wanted badly to clamor for D'ren's attention, but even the stupidest dragon would realize that the fragile human needed to rest.

Ronarth found himself oddly at a loss for words. While normally gabby and even invasive, there was something solemn about this place that quelled his usual enthusiasm. He rumbled softly, eyes swirling at an even slower pace, and rested his head on the rocks. How are you? he finally asked, his mindvoice slow and smooth, docile. Maybe he was tired because D'ren was tired. Maybe he was just bored. Either way, it was nice to have someone to talk to.

Larrikith startled, badly, at the sound of Ronarth speaking her name so out of the blue, and as a result turned a disgruntled glare upon the larger dragon as he appeared out of between with a burst of cold air she could have done without. Snorting, Larrikith gave her wings an irritable twitch, before letting herself relax. Ronarth meant no harm, and she was in too placid a mood at present to bother getting antsy with him.

Ronarth, she returned solemnly, her tone relaxed and almost warm as her eyes whirled slowly. Larrikith was particularly fond of her time to herself - it was relaxing, to be able to take to the skies on a whim, and know her bonded would be safe (so long as the idiot didn't go wandering) from both the predators that roamed the outskirts of Katila's boundaries, and from other humans. It was something she wouldn't have dreamed of allowing up North, now or before Then. B'jin just wasn't careful enough to be without her careful guardianship.

Alive, was her response to his question, eyes sparkling up in amusement and whirling a touch faster. Her tail twitched, and her position changed as the small green dragon curled up into a sitting position and looked regally over at her bronze leader as he impersonated a clinging shell-fish. What do you want?

Larrikith wasn't intending to be rude, or abrupt. She was simply curious and her tone portrayed that, some, as it came out lilted with curiosity as opposed to her usual snarky bite. She continued to watch him for a moment more, before her gaze once more turned downwards and focused on the landscape between herself and Katila Weyr.

Telgar has nothing on Katila, a simple statement, said with both disdain for her Hatching-ground, and deep pride for their hard worked home. Larrikith knew that Then was a bad time, and she did her best to avoid the memories that seemed to be permanently stuck in her mind, even when she would forget something else that must have been important. But, Now was better, because of it. Their home was better. Their riders were safer. And only the Snatched brought down the average attitude at Katila, at least as far as she was concerned.

I will leave, if you'd prefer Ronarth said slowly. The bronze was friendly and liked the company of other dragons, but he never quite knew how to take such standoffish replies. Even if Larrikith didn't mean it, that's how Ronarth took it. He expected it from her. It seemed many of Katila's greens felt that way towards him. It was why he never attempted to fly them. With a ragged exhale, the bronze turned his head away and looked back towards the Weyr. I am just worried about D'ren. He works himself too hard and never sleeps until he collapses. I am worried his heart will wear out the bronze said sadly. He crooned and started to climb to a more secure position atop the rocks.

He exhaled roughly. I miss Ista he said. I miss the way things were before, when we were wingseconds and he was happier he said. Ronarth's simple mind had trouble with D'ren's motives and explanations, though the dragon knew that somehow, his rider was still happy...but it was a different kind of happy. It troubled the bronze.

He wished the plague had never happened. He would still be with his old mate, his rider would have his old friends...things would be much better. There would be no more stress, no more distraught little ones, and so much more company. Neither of them would live with pressure or guilt.

Try as she might, Par’a always knew in the back of her mind that she could never truly control Grith. While they might be co-dependent on each other, there was always a part of Grith that was never under her control. Now, as profound and mysterious as that sounded, that part was well...

LARRIKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITH!

Grith’s shout was loud and piercing, definitely cause for irritation in even the most sweet-mannered dragon or human. Her dark hide shot into the sky like a cannonball from within the Gather Square, fresh paint streaking down it as it attempted to dry. By the time she stopped and had made her way over to the mountains where Ronarth and Larrikith were perched, it looked like someone had run up and down her with different paints. The painstaking designs the weyrbrats had painted on were long lost beneath the smeared colours, but she almost literally glowed with pride regardless.

Larrikith Larrikith Larrikith LARRIKITH! Grith landed on the mountain somewhat like a terran bat, clambering across the surface in the most peculiar fashion. Brittle pieces of the mountain crumbled and fell beneath her as she clutched wildly at it, shuffling across to where the other two dragons were perched. As always, she focused solely on Larrikith, blatantly ignoring the shining Bronze beside her. When she reached the fellow Green she peered up at her with bright green eyes that whirled almost dizzyingly fast. Trilling she bobbed her head up and down, still clinging to the side of the mountain. No doubt both herself and Ronarth looked quite amusing beside the composedly perched Larrikith.

That will not be necessary, Larrikith responded blandly to Ronarth, her head tilting slightly to give him a look that was a combination of irritated and amused. Contrary to her attitude, Larrikith enjoyed the bronze's company. He wasn't as lewd as some of the other males were, and she never felt the needed to puff herself up, and put herself in range of the larger size almost all of Katila had on her. Larrikith was a tiny dragon, and for the most part, that didn't bother her. But when a dragon decided to remind her of just how tiny she was, Larrikith got irritated. It wasn't a common occurrence, but it was a sore point.

B'jin could get him drunk, Larrikith offered sarcastically and not at all seriously. She wasn't sure how to respond to concern about a rider that wasn't hers. She knew how to fix B'jin, when he got himself all tangled up, through a long life of trial and error. She had no idea how other dragon's handled their humans. That was their issue - it was their bonded.

Not I, Larrikith said firmly, shuffling her wings regally and glancing at Ronarth absently. Then was bad, it is not always easy - but this is better. She tossed her head, and then flinched visibly and her left forefoot slipped on the stones and she collapsed in a particularly inelegant lump as Grith's voice pounded into her own mind like a pound of thunder.

Eyes flashing furious colours, Larrikith snarled under her breath as she pushed herself up onto her feet and glared dangerously in the direction of Grith, who flew at her like Thread on a mission, and she sorely wished she could flame the unorthodox green. Instead, her eyes mellowed out slightly though irritation still coursed through her.

Grith. The single word was bit out, and she turned to look pointedly at Ronarth, then back at Grith as she rearranged her body to take back the serene posture she had previously held. Fancy a flight? The question was rhetorical, for Larrikith had already decided she would fly, but her invitation was sent to both dragons, and her invitation was sincere.

Standing, Larrikith extended her wings, careful to avoid hitting either of her fellows. Folding her wings back close to her spine, Larrikith gave a soft trill, and then threw herself off the edge of the cliff. She fell for several seconds before she extended her wings, and swooped back upwards, her maw open in a comical grin.

Coming?

Ronarth turned towards Grith and let out a deep rumble of greeting, but it was subdued,. He knew the green wasn't exactly fond of his color, though he never understood why. He knew some of his own bronze brethren weren't always kindly towards the little greens and blues, but that made no sense to him either. That made greens like Grith make even less sense; if he was one of the bronzes who went out of his way to be kind regardless of color, why didn't she like him?!

He decided not to be troubled by it. He exhaled and looked back towards Larrikith. Easier for us, harder for them he said. He might have agreed with Larrikith, were life not so hard for his bonded. D'ren's stress levels blinded Ronarth to the warmth and leisure Katila offered them. It was a dragon's paradise, a rider's hell.

He then watched as Larrikith took off. He might have assumed she was trying to evade them, but Ronarth knew this green wasn't likely to say something she didn't mean. When he was invited, he released the cliff side and dropped into a passing gust of wind, easily catching himself and rising into the air beside her. Of course he said, gentle and mellow. It was a good day to fly, and as a dragon, Ronarth enjoyed such simple pleasures.

Grith probably couldn't have noticed Larrikith's biting tone if she tried. Shifting on the rock face she swerved her head to stare at Ronarth, blinking owlishly as Larrikith invited them both to fly. Digging her claws in her head turned and followed the two as they each launched themselves off of the mountain top. Rumbling deep in her chest she looked up at the sky, watching the thin streaks of cloud racing across it. One cloud, two cloud, high cloud, low cloud. Her voice was light and wispy, distracted almost. As she heard Larrikith's last word she snapped her head down, as if she'd only just realized what she'd asked.

Without thinking she thrust herself away from the mountain, beating her wings furiously to keep from falling onto the sharp jutting rocks that were just beneath her. One, two, three four five sixseveneight! She cried out, sending out waves of glee. Catching a thermal she rocketed up, bugling loudly. Betcha can't catch meee! Grith challenged, though who she was challenging exactly wasn't clear as she was racing alongside a small cloud and staring at it.

Tucking a wing into her body she spun into a barrel roll, using her flared wing to maintain her flight. Evening out she trilled sharply, swooping down to where Larrikith and Ronarth were gliding. Banking to the right away from them she crooned before flipping and returning to her initial position. One hut, two hut, three hut...

True, Larrikith agreed with Ronarth, her voice almost mellow as she glided along a warm updraft next to the bronze. Her eyes were whirling slowly, watching Grith with an idle expression that seemed something between amusement and exasperation. It was, seriously, dragons like Grith that made people think greens had no brains! More amused than anything, however, the little green dropped her left shoulder, and spun rapidly under Ronarth to appear below, behind and to the side of him. Pushing strongly, she shot up beside him.

She amuses me, Larrikith said quietly to the bronze, putting their previous topic on hold for a moment. When she isn't an atrocious insult to my colour. Her tone on the last portion was amusement and teasing, light and cheerful as she didn't actually intend what she was saying to be taken to heart. She didn't mind Grith, really. The dragon was definitely a breath of fresh air.

They are strong, Larrikith said, jumping back to the original conversation she was carrying with Ronarth before they took to the skies. They have survived so much, we all have. She did a roll, plummeting through a cloud and watching what was left puff away as she rolled again through the air. Larrikith wasn't usually a particularly aerial flier but she was feeling relaxed and was enjoying the simple company of a simple minded green and a pleasant bronze.

Ronarth was initially confused by the sudden shift of topic. It creeled questioningly and looked towards Larrikith as she wheeled about, his own flight level and evenly-paced, albeit swift. As the moments passed, he realized what she meant. They were gossiping! Oh, Grith... Ronarth said, thinking about the silly but charming green as he sailed along.

The bronze's sadness was tangible. I like her, but she does not like me he explained quietly to Larrikith. Grith reminded Ronarth much of himself. She was playful and energetic. Of course, his bronze-dragon pride didn't allow him to speak of it directly, but in the back of his mind Ronarth also knew that he was simple. He and Grith should have gotten along. She should have helped him bridge the color-gap, which never mattered much to Ronarth. Instead, he was rejected for that very reason.

I do not understand he said finally, his words still aimed at Larrikith. I do not mind that Grith is a green. But she minds me because I am a bronze. Because she thinks bronzes dislike greens. I do not know what to do about it, either he said wistfully. He dropped one wing and dove, banking sharply in one direction and making a close pass by Grith. He bugled a greeting to her, as if testing to see if she would be more receptive to him this time.

Grith heard nothing of the two dragons' conversation. While she was loud herself, she didn't particularly have a good ear for listening. With no words directed her way, she assumed that the three of them were all silent. Weaving in and around Larrikith she trilled softly, happy to be spending time with a fellow small Green. Ronarth's bugle as he passed below her went unanswered or acknowledged. Indignation bristled through her body as she pumped her wings and raised herself slightly higher and away from the Bronze.

'Grith are you ignoring another Bronze? Be nice and say hello.' Par'a's voice shocked the simple Green, who let out a squawk and flapped her wings as if she had hit a cross current. Regaining steady flight she huffed, why should she say hello to that Gold-mongerer? Snorting she turned her orange-streaked gaze to Ronarth.

Par'a says I have to say hello. Hello. She spat gratingly in his direction. Turning away she dipped and flew close to Larrikith, the orange slowly dissipating as she focused her attention on the other Green. You should come be prettied with me tomorrow! The wingless hatchlings are so nice! She chattered excitedly, glancing back at her paint-streaked hide fondly.

Larrikith gave a rumble of laughter at Ronarth's confused admittance about Grith, and she tilted slightly in his direction, her wing just missing his as she dipped under him. Grith can be a fool. She responded simply, hitting an updraft and letting it lift her small form back up towards the ever open sky as Ronarth dropped down and crossed over above her fellow green. Larrikith dropped her head, peering back between her knees as she flew over the top of the pair.

Tilting sharply, Larrikith dropped and angled down sharply to fall lightly between the two dragons, and another rumble of draconic laughter echoed up from her green chest as Grith snapped a greeting to Ronarth. Highly amused, Larrikith turned her sparkling gaze upon Ronarth and gave a soft chirp. The sound was partly reassuring, but it also held a heavy handful of her cynical nature. If you can't beat them, and you can't join them - laugh at them.

Don't let her phase you, she whispered to Ronarth, tone reassuring, before she gave a verbal squawk of disgust in response to the older female's invitation. Dream on, she intoned, disgust in every letter, as she gave Grith's hide a look of barley disguised horror. If it isn't soapsand or oil it doesn't touch my hide, girl.

A shudder travelled the green's body at the mere thought, and she ducked under Grith, rolling as she did so and reaching up with her front claws she clapped her hands against Grith's own in a clap, then tumbled away before their wings could clash. She picked up the height she had lost with a couple of wing beats, and circled over towards Ronarth with a decidedly mischievous look. Patti cake, Patti cake, she sang, her mind voice mellow, as she ducked under Ronarth with a twist and a roll, and slapped her clawed forepaws against his own.

Chirping her laughter, Larrikith dropped like a stone for several lengths, before she flung her wings out and spun herself up towards the pair. She was in a decidedly playful mood, a rarity, and decided she'd take advantage of her good company. Sometimes, it was nice to get away from human influence.

Ronarth returned Larrikith's chirp, his simple mind failing to process her cynicism. He took the reassurance at face value, his eyes swirling brightly with vivid shades of blue and green. I like little dragons he commented, for while dragon sizes continued to overlap noticeably, Ronarth's genetic memory told him that he was meant to be much larger than the greens and blues he surrounded himself with. He was nearly twice Larrikith's size, though, so the comment stood as logical in his mind.

D'ren has told me the same he replied. He rumbled warmly at the thought of Nirinath as well. Nirinath wouldn't ever snub him like that! Of course, Nirinath was amazing, and the only other metallic dragon Ronarth spent much time lingering near. The chromatics were more likely to share Ronarth's playful nature, but his Queen was something special indeed. She often shared Ronarth's sentiments.

In a rush of sudden whimsy, the bronze folded his wings an angled himself downwards, performing a dramatic swoop before catching the wind and rising upwards again. He let out a half-creel of surprise as Larrikith swooped under him, her claws brushing comical against his paws as she sang.

Grith squealed shrilly when she heard Larrikith's acidic voice. While Larrikith may have been expressing her disgust at the paint, Grith didn't hear it that way. The perceived insult stung her like threadscore, to which she responded to with a hiss at the cynical Green. Spinning on her wingtip she headed back in the direction they had come from.

It wasn't long before being alone lost its shine to Grith, no more than six wing beats. Craning her neck around she peered at where the other two dragons were diving, watching for a moment. Shifting her wings slightly she rose on a current and turned to face them. Bored with just plain flying she picked out a location closer to Larrikith and Ronarth, winking between instantly.

When she reappeared she was several meters above and to the side of Ronarth. A vicious air current ripped across her wing as she tilted to fly away from him, catching her off guard. It bent forward at what was clearly not a normal position and she let out a pained roar. Instinctively she snapped her wing shut against her body, causing her to fall awkwardly as she tried to slow her descent with one wing. The winds carried her closer to the Bronze, despite her best efforts to stay straight.

Nirinath was getting heavier and heavier as the days passed and the eggs within her grew larger and larger. She was not yet unwieldy enough to get off the ground however, and she meant to take advantage of that as long as she could. She checked in quietly on Tsuen; the weyrwoman was resting with D'ren, which was a good thing. Both the leaders had been stressed recently and while their dragons were a part of it as well, the difference was that she (and by extension, Ronarth) could make the other dragons behave, where Tsuen did not have that power over the other riders. So if the humans made a decision, it was more likely to lead to rioting, like that night Turns past where the riders who were denied looking for a brown that had been sent away, burned Tsuen's hut down.

Opening her wings like twin parachutes, Nirinath took a running leap toward the surf, letting the warm air currents flow under and over and around the shining wingsails. She gained altitude slowly, but she wasn't alarmed about that; there was plenty of sea between her and the Northern continent, and lots of room to the east and west to bank. Eventually she got high enough to no longer be concerned, even if she had flown over the North, because no one would have been able to see her. She headed back inland toward the mountains beyond the Katilan huts, and before long, two green spots and a yellowy-green bronze one. Her wingbeats came closer together, and a distinct blue-green twist entered her eyes that were already a pleasant blue. She enjoyed flying with her fellow dragons, and she didn't do it enough.

Suddenly, her eyes flooded with yellow as one of Grith's wings folded to her side. Nirinath's wing muscles strained, but she knew she would not get there in time and Grith was too near Ronarth and Larrikith for the gold to risk between. Her mindvoice called out, Ronarth -- help Grith!!

Larrikith turned her head, watching as Grith threw a tantrum over her simple statement. Her eyes sparkled in amusement as she watched her fellow green quickly realise that she didn't really want to be away from them, and snorted a laugh to herself. Grith was always fun to be around, and the fact that the silly green didn't seem to remember half the insults Larrikith threw at her after a few minutes pleased the smaller green. She liked Grith, she enjoyed insulting her, but it wouldn't have been nearly as fun if Grith actually remembered the insults - then the other green wouldn't spend time with her. Despite apparent appearances, Larrikith enjoyed spending time with other dragons, it was simply that her sharp tongue and spiteful words had a rather fast way of driving others off.

Grith! Larrikith twisted, dramatically, when the flood of cold between air was quickly followed by the painted dragon's painful roar. Wings flared and eyes rapidly spinning through emotions, Larrikith felt relief was through her as Nirinath's voice appeared first, commanding Ronarth, and the little dragon turned her head, quickly spotting the majestic form of her queen gliding towards them. She also noted the increased size and weight of the golden dragon, and was once more pleased to be a green. She couldn't imagine being comfined indefinitely to the sands as a result of feeling lusty!

Nirinath, she greeted the queen lazily as she turned to watch Ronarth and Grith. She'd withhold from making remarks about the golden dragons weight... for now. Her eyes sparkled mischievously as she hovered carefully in place.

Ronarth watched as Grith departed, squealing impetuously as he would have expected. He let out a draconic sigh and continued along, sailing beside Larrikith and giving up all hope of ever understanding Grith. In his youth, Ronarth easily matched her in energy. Some part of him probably remembered that time, when he was every bit as excitable and spontaneous as she. The flaming incident had changed him, but being around his playful little sisters reminded him of that old feeling...

His reminiscing was cut short when Grith reappeared with a dramatic shriek, her wings snapped shut and he body wheeling towards the ground. Ronarth let out a roar of shock and fanned his wings dramatically, sliding away from her for fear of collision. He shifted his direction and entering a spiraled downward descent, his eyes trained on the green, watching anxiously for her to recover. Grith!

He panicked. This is normally when D'ren would have been the voice of reason and would have prompted the petrified bronze to action, but the man was asleep. Ronarth's panic sent the rider nightmares as he lay beside Tsuen. Fortunately, another influence approached to bespeak him.

Help Grith!

Nirinath's words didn't need repeating. Ronarth dove boldly, his glittering body falling like to stone to match the speed of the toppling green. He let out a rumble, his eyes blazing with anxious reds and yellows, as he slid his larger body underneath Grith in an effort to slow her fall so he could grab her. He latched on as delicately as he could, claws sheathed, and pleaded with her. Hang on to me!

Ronarth!

It was the first time she had spoken to him of her own accord, and fear flooded her voice. Even she knew there was no point contacting Larrikith, she was fractions smaller than her own self, too small to be of any aid right now. She heard and felt Nirinath's presence, and knew she too was of no help. Laden with eggs and on the verge of being grounded due to them, the Gold had no chance to reach them. So her only hope lay in the shining Bronze she had so desperately tried to ignore and avoid.

She screeched in fear and pain, flinching as Ronarth slid beneath her. Panic flooded her mind as the pain finally reached her rider and she realized what was occurring, something which definitely wasn't going to help the situation. When he reached out to grab her, Grith flailed in her panicked state, how was him holding onto her going to help?! In the back of her racing mind she could hear Par'a's running stream of questions, as well as feel her accessing her eyes. This only proved to worry Grith further. It wasn't until she felt ichor on her hide that she froze. Without meaning to she had lashed out in her flailing at Ronarth, claws sharp and extended. I'm sorry! I just, I… I don't want to die! These words were loud and filled with terror. Par'a's voice entered her mind soothingly, like a mother stroking her child's hair to soothe their tears.

Grith's posture relaxed into Ronarth at Par'a's strong-willed instructions. She withdrew her claws and held onto the larger Bronze, her body trembling as she waited, her faith completely bestowed in Ronarth. Right now she could do nothing, flapping her uninjured wing would unbalance them, so she brought it in against her side until someone told her to do otherwise. Her eyes whirled a mixture of grey, white and yellow, the deepness of the grey belying how much pain she was in.

You're not going to die!

Ronarth's mindvoice boomed, projected freely to all within it's range. He spun forward and extended both wings, clutching to Grith as tightly as he dare without hurting her. He screeched as he felt Grith's claws dig into him, but still he didn't recoil. Slow yourself if you can, Grith! I have you!

He struggled against her falling form, pumping his wings furiously and thrusting his bulk upwards. He could feel her lithe form slowing, but with the wind whipping past them and the ground will rising quickly, it was little comfort. The bronze let out a bellow of frustration and  shifting his weight forward as they slowed, gradually wheeling Grith forward and righting himself.

With that, the bronze flared his wings again and fought against the wind. Their decent slowed more. Ronarth's muscles twitched and his body trembled as he tried to keep her weight steady, but he didn't ask for help. He didn't want her to hurt herself worse, and perhaps there was just a bit of bronze dragon pride stopping him. He let out another bellow of exertion as he finally brought Grith to the ground, dropping her with a bit more force than he'd meant. Unable to check his own momentum, he smashed into the ground moments later and let out a piercing shriek.

Ronarth's voice crashed into her head with extreme force and power, the words not quite soothing, but still calming. Her body fully relaxed now, the authority in his voice was unquestionable. Slow… slow… We'll spin! Her voice quavered, it was shrill but not loud. Still, she opened her uninjured wing, keeping it open as much as she could. From her position she didn't dare risk flapping it and becoming entangled within Ronarth's own.

As they flipped she snapped her wing closed, afraid this one would also be whipped back and strained. When Ronarth dropped her to the ground she roared, more from shock than anything. Rolling over she jumped upright, bellowing as she saw the Bronze crashing into the ground. Ronarth! Ronarth are you okay? Grith shrieked with worry, bounding over to his fallen form.

Unsure if he was hurt she nuzzled him gently, pacing around him with pale yellow eyes. In her moment of stress the pain of her wing was forgotten, and she half-opened both wings. Creeling she pulled them shut tight against her body, the strained joint throbbed terribly with any movement. Tail lashing behind her anxiously she paced beside Ronarth, waiting for a response in what seemed like forever. Ronarth?

Ronarth's shrill screech split the air as he slammed into the ground, his thick body practically bouncing as he rolled helplessly along. He felt a painful snapping in his wings, causing a rush of panic to go through him. Far away, D'ren twisted and turned in his sleep, beset with a horrid nightmare as Ronarth's pain and fear shot to him.

The bronze finally tumbled to a stop, his entire body rigid with nervousness and pain. His bronze hide was torn and oozing green ichor in several places. He creeled weakly and slowly flexed his wings, relief washing over him as he realized they weren't broken. The joints were smashed and strained, but not actually broken.

I am fine he reported, forcing optimism into his strained voice. His eyes flashed yellow as he turned his head towards Grith, pleasantly surprised by her show of concern. He exhaled painfully and rose to his feet, carefully attempting to fold his wings. He quickly gave up, realizing they were far too tender, and instead left them hanging at his sides.

Larrikith gave a shriek of shocked outrage as Ronarth's voice booomed through her mind like a clap of thunder, and her eyes whirled rapidly with red and yellows as she fought to catch herself before she dropped more than a few feet, thoughrly shocked by the usually placid bronze dragon's stark response to Grith.

Twisting lightly in the air, Larrikith swooped down, hovering close to the pair as Ronarth slipped securely under Grith. The smaller green crooned reassurance to the pair of them, dipping and swirling she did her best to remain both out of the way, and right there to reassure the eccentric green perched so frightendly upon Ronarth's back.

TRonarth! Larrikith squealed in shock, fluttering her wings strongly she dropped roughly to the ground beside the fallen bronze, wings clamping tightly to her sides as she trotted over, nose extended to poke him gently with it, breathing worridly, eyes bright and whirling swiftly. Are you sure? Larrikith asked delicately, snuffling around his wounds, careful not to touch - partly because it would pain him, but also because she did not want his ichor on her pretty nose!

Looks like we're walking home, her tone was teasing.

Nirinath descended much slower than did Ronarth, Grith, and Larrikith, but not because she wanted to. She wanted to rush headlong beside them, do anything that she could to stop them falling, but she had to be cautious. So instead she blipped in and out of between the quicker to make her way to the beach and landed a few yards away from the other three. She raced over to them, churning sand as she ran, her wings half-folded.

Ronarth! Grith! Are you okay? Ichor seeped from Ronarth's hide and for a few minutes the bronze did not rise, though he did move -- was he okay? Grith seemed mostly uninjured besides the original hurt, a strained wing-joint that would need some rest. Ronarth? Finally he stood, his wings hanging limply but at least not tattered, and Nirinath moved to stand near his head, nuzzling him carefully. Larrikith voiced what she was thinking: was he sure he was okay? The gold's eyes whirled rapid yellows of concern and she creeled quietly.

Tsuen, is Ronarth's alright? He seems to be having a nightmare; what is going on out there? Ronarth is injured, but I think he'll be okay. We may be awhile in getting home. Grith and Larrikith are here, too, and Grith has a strained wing as well. Tsuen merely nodded, and dabbed at D'ren's head with cool water, making quiet shushing sounds as she did. Injuries were not uncommon with dragons; at least she knew where the gold was.

Grith continued to pace beside Ronarth, reaching out to sniff at his ichor stained hide. The green marks were unpleasant, if only because she knew they meant pain to him. His optimism appeared genuine to Grith, who didn't hear it being forced into his voice. Despite this she ever so softly pressed her nose against his hanging wings. If only Par'a could see! Grith had never approached a Bronze of her own will, and to be showing such tender concern was sheerly mind-blowing.

As Larrikith and Nirinath landed Grith pulled back sharply, turning so she faced all of them. She dipped her head to Nirinath, much like she had seen others do to her rider. My wing aches… but other than that I am alright, she said to Nirinath, turning her yellowy eyes to Ronarth, thanks to you. She said. Gratitude was thickly lathered in her voice. It only occurred to her as Nirinath nuzzled Ronarth that they had a deep attachment to each other. That she had told her own mate to rescue Grith and he had complied, was she worth that risk?

Don't be a wherry. You are worth all the risks in the world. Par'a's soothing voice interrupted her dreary thoughts. Pell! Grith cried out, her mind almost colliding against Par'a's as she sought her rider's comfort. Are you coming back to the Weyr? Par'a asked. Yes, but we will have to walk. Ronarth saved me… Grith spoke of her saviour with reverence, one could only hope she would not forget today's events within a few days as all dragons did.

Are you okay to come home? Grith asked Ronarth, reaching out to touch his shoulder with her nose. She had sustained no injuries when he had dropped her, spare a few tiny scrapes on her lower legs and would be fine to walk home. With a few breaks for rests of course, she was built for short bursts of speed after all, not long distance walking! But whether Ronarth could make the journey she was unsure of.

Ah, Nirinath.

Ronarth let out a sad warble as his mate approached, landing with such difficult but still coming to his side so attentively. He couldn't imagine maneuvering about egg-heavy as she was! The bronze crooned and reached out to her, butting his head gently against her neck and nuzzling her with gratitude. Nirinath he sighed, trying his best to fold his wings into their proper places. Thankfully the sails weren't torn. What a disaster that would have been.

Ronarth wanted very badly to call out to D'ren, but he could already sense his partner's nightmares. The bronze was loathe to actually wake the man and whine about the situation when there was little D'ren could have actually done. What was he going to do, ride someone else's dragon up into the mountains and then walk back with him? There wasn't a dragon at Katila that could carry Ronarth either, and the one who came closest was already there with him.

I'm glad you're all right, Grith Ronarth said, turning his attention to the green. He could feel her sense of gratitude, but his typical enthusiasm and desire to be liked were taking a back seat to discomfort at the moment. He creeled a bit as he started to walk. I...couldn't just let you fall he said sheepishly. He was almost embarrassed to ask if Grith would forgive him for his color now.

Ronarth shivered a bit at Larrikith's snuffling. At least she was avoiding his wounds. I am he assured her lightly, though his tone and projected emotions indicated that he wasn't so sure.

He'd saved Grith, but he felt pretty bad about himself. The last time he'd been involved in a disaster this bad, he'd almost killed his rider. Let's go homethe normally spirited dragon said. I am very tired

Did you need me at all tonight, love? Larrikith's voice, while light, was also fairly obvious in tone that she fully expected the answer to be a no, and would probably not be very impressed if her rider came back with some kind of affirmative. Not really, Larri. Why? B'jin's tone was amused, as he washed dishes, as he butted into Larrikith's mind to see what was going on, stealing her eyesight as he did so. Grith was being Grithy and hurt herself. Ronarth hurt himself being bronzy and now we're walking home. B'jin was floored by the easy way she said it, and the straight up answer he received. Judging by Larrikith's delight, that was quite likely her desired response. B'jin shook his head slightly, and frowned. Is everyone alright?

No, idiot, they're dead. Didn't you hear the keening? Larrikith's sarcasm was biting, but B'jin let it roll off him like water off an oiled hide. Uhhuh. Well, I have the children tonight, so be quiet when you get in. Good. I'm going to need a bath tomorrow morning, I am not built for walking. I figured, B'jin replied drolly, before letting the connection slide back down as he shook his head in amusement. Larrikith was an odd one.

Larrikith's expression as she met Ronarth's eyes was less than convinced and more than a little skeptical as she took his his assurance he was okay, but also his less than sure tone. There was very little she could do in any case, considering she was so damned tiny herself. Several feet smaller than the other three dragons, the only thing she could claim was substantial bulk on Grith, who was slightly awkward in her proportions. Or maybe Larrikith was just fat. Shaking herself and settling her wings casually at her sides, the green dragon set off as elegantly as any of them could expect to walk, her gait slow and loping.

I spy, with my little eye... amusement laced her tone as she set off into the childish game, apparently not at all put out by walking around and highly amused by the fact that her audience was unable to escape her. Any attempt Nirinath or Ronarth would make at shutting her up would be deflected by changing games, tactics or mannerisms. She was going to make the walk home interesting, and incredibly painful whilst enjoying every moment.
