A lot of questions hit him in rapid succession when M'quel moved.
Why was she in the water?
Why did she seem to want a hug?
Where did he look when the way her flimsy shift clung to every curve of her body?
Why was she removing it?
Oh, Faranth! She was naked before him and his body was reacting as much as his mind raced with what he wished he could do. Well, if he had any doubts, it seemed his crush on his friend had not gone away but had simply calmed itself down until the most inappropriate time. N'lis glanced at his dragon, noting the way Dalsuth's head was cocked and was regarding the pair of them. Three months ago would have been an appropriate time and in another month or two as well. But right then, in that very moment, he had a dragon that was only nine weeks old; a dragon that was full of energy and constantly curious.
N'lis didn't think Dalsuth would sound the alarm and have a fit over his thoughts but he needed to still be careful and to stop thinking about how lovely it would be to kiss M'quel. Thankfully Dalsuth was busying himself by wringing out the dress that had been tossed at him. N'lis knew it was less to do with being helpful and more to do with needing something to do as the dragon could only stay still for so long but it kept him busy either way.
"I uh," N'lis tried to form a reply to one of the many things M'quel had said during his mini-meltdown but even the real reason for his ducking under the water--which was clear and not exactly obscuring his scars or anything else--left him shy and awkward. He knew his friend wouldn't judge him and Zelana had helped him gain a bit of confidence but N'lis still hated talking about himself, especially his insecurities.
"The scars," he mumbled, staring at the water just to the left of M'quel so he could avoid seeing her body. Zelana had assured him they weren't that bad and compared to Indivara's, he knew she was right. But there were still a lot of them and some were ugly and more prominent than others.
