Zoremet tilted his head curiously at the mention of Lazerat's parents. "Why would they do that? Wouldn't they be happy to know how she's doing?" He realized it was a bit of a nosy question as soon as he asked it and shifted his weight awkwardly as he tried to think if he should apologize or not. He'd thought Holders made families a bigger deal, and that's why they weren't as open as people back in the Weyr, but maybe he was wrong.
He decided to just latch onto the next bit of conversation and pretend that he hadn't asked in the first place. "I don't know if I could fight Zelly. She doesn't seem very mean or violent, but she's got," he waved his hand in the air as he tried to think of the right word, "energy. So much of it! I bet if she did fight she'd be hard to beat. Either because she's scrappy, or because she just wouldn't stay down or something. I would just run away."
But maybe he could trick her into sharing. Zoremet thought about it a bit more. "Hiking and camping are always fun. Maybe we could all go cliff diving sometime, find a nice spot and camp for a few days. If you're not too busy with your sailing." He gave Lazerat a broad smile as he nodded in agreement that there would be plenty of time. "I'll try to keep in touch. I'm not always the best at it, but I can at least try to say hi when you visit your sister. And if you come to visit me she can say hi too." The thought of Laz coming just to visit him was a little exciting and it made him smile, feet once again swinging from the tall bar chair. "But what would you want to do without Zelly?"
