"No," she laughed, "I'm clearly not a child so I don't need the extra push." The candidate's sweetness was a breath of fresh air but there was a small part of August that was a little afraid for him. Would weyr life suck that sweetness right out of him? She hoped not. There needed to be more sweetness in the world and she had a moment's driving to make sure he didn't lose his.
"Fetch. Why Fetch?" she murmured and dusted more snow off her legs as he started gathering snow into a ball for the middle of the snow person. "August," she answered and stuck her hand out on impulse. She didn't often do it, preferring not to touch anyone with her rough hands but she was gloved and he didn't seem the type to make fun of her scars.
"Yeah," she continued and studied his rolled ball of snow, "I'm a candidate. Kind of old to be one." Her smile was rueful as she said the last. "I think I saw you at the last touching and hatching," she continued and moved around the ball of snow as he moved to lift it to the bottom ball. It was nice having someone taller and stronger around to do the heavy lifting.
"I think that should do," she said as she started gathering more snow and glanced at the boy's firelizard, "Oh hey... Do you know where to get the firelizard eggs?" She hadn't had the opportunity to find someone to give her one but she knew there were usually a few hanging around for candidates.
