Taith was deep in thought, trying to work out the cake puzzle when the woman screamed, which scared him and he chirped back in alarm. Then he had Malvayth telling him to run and scatter so while she dove for a shadow, he took off to a nearby ledge and flattened himself down while carefully peeking over to see if they had been caught.
Kor'is knew something was up when he felt the spike of fear and adrenaline soon after a distant shriek from a woman. He didn't know what Taith was up to but the dragon was with Malvayth so it could only mean trouble. He really didn't want to know but it was better to find out now and prepare his story before G'nen approached him and he learned that way.
He went to the ledge and looked around, finding Taith on someone's ledge acting odd--moreso than usual. Then he saw the kitchen workers milling about and pointing at... was that a black dragon?
What did you two do now?
Umm... nothing? Okay okay, I painted Malvayth black so we could be sneaky thief heroes!
Of course you did. So G'nen and the leadership were going to be on his case, great. And why did Cazan let them do that? That girl was a menace to his sanity. Get off that ledge before you anger someone else and I'll be down soon.
Kor'is waited to make sure Taith returned to the ground before heading down himself. They couldn't be in that much trouble, right? Cazan was the one that let it happen.
