Month 05, 741 AL

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 06, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries: Season, Low to High
Ista Boundaries: Season, Low to High

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Month 09, 739 AL
North: Early Autumn| South: Early Spring
13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself uncommonly warm (~12C / 53.6) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

The late-season weather is settling, with much of the Northern hemisphere coated in snow (the exception being the much warmer Ista region) while Katila remains humid and sweltering in the height of Summer.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.

December 2017

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Yfris loved Gathers. It was a time to get away from the same walls of the Hold, explore elsewhere, reconnect with old friends, make new friends, and just generally have a good time and not worry too much about the consequences later on. Still, he had a babysitter with him--at least that's what he had jokingly called Tazikel when his friend asked him to attend the Gather together. Between the two of them, Tazikel really was the more responsible one but only just barely so it still fit.

They had arrived late morning and had their lordly tents put up as it seemed to be a tradition with them now. No need for guest quarters in the Hold where some level of decorum would be expected. A tent was much easier to bring lovers to and from and party whenever he wanted. They spent some time together but Mylorah arrived and Yfris waved them off to dance for a bit with a promise he would mostly behave and find them at the square later on.

As he wandered the booths, not really in need of anything, Yfris wondered if he should have stayed to dance as well. Surely he would have found a partner to have fun with rather easily. Yes, maybe that's what he would do. He started back in that direction but stopped when a woman caught his eye. She looked vaguely familiar.

He studied her, on the arm of a handsome blonde man who also got an appraising look, before he saw the knots they both wore. Goldrider and bronzerider. Weren't they just precious. But something started to click in place. A tall woman with short hair that had recently Impressed a gold dragon...

He approached the pair with an easy smile and a wave of greeting. "Cazan? It's Cazan, right? It's been a while but you do leave an impression." He turned to her companion and offered him the same smile that led someone to believe he was innocent but his words weren't entirely there.

"And who is your hot friend? I'm Yfris, second son of Misty Hold and I hope I get to know you better as well, sir." They seemed like a couple which her mother clearly didn't know or care about given the position he had been put in. But, Yfris also wouldn't mind being in the position between them either. The afternoon had the potential of looking up!

Cazan was so glad that there had been a stage set up at the edge of the Gather where there was enough room that Malvayth could lounge and watch the man juggling and telling stories. It was nerve wracking to think of her spending so much unsupervised time around holders, but she had a feeling that Syrendryth, for all his grumpiness, would probably keep a small eye on her to at least let them know if anything started to go wrong. That and she wouldn't have been surprised if Yanth was hovering nearby as well.

She wasn't sure what exactly T'ryn had in mind, she just knew she'd leave her own personal shopping for leather supplies later. Or at least she was going to try to. Every time they passed a stall that had pelts or leather or some sort of finding that she could use her pace slowed down just a little so that she could take at least a quick peek. Her boyfriend kept insisting they could stop to get a better look but so far she always declined. "No... no we don't need to stop. I'm just trying to remember this booth for when I come back on my own to just do some shopping. I don't want to turn this entire day into work."

The voice that said her name was familiar and when she looked up the face attached also was familiar but she couldn't quite place it. Cazan didn't immediately have the urge to either run or hit the man though, so that was a good sign. And then she remembered him, one of the more tolerable suitors her mother had tried throwing at her for some rather boring and stuffy dinner that they'd both been rather done with. "Yfris? How are you doing? I haven't seen you since we both decided taking a walk would be more entertaining than listening to my father talk at dinner."

She grinned as she gave T'ryn's arm a squeeze."This is T'ryn of bronze Syrendryth. My boyfriend." It felt so good to be able to say that.

Cazan was absolutely the worst when it came to shopping. He thought he was bad but she topped him. She wouldn’t give any indication of what she was interested in, certainly not if it was something that would be deemed frivolous. He’d just have to come back another day on his own and find something. Of course the easiest option would be anything work-related but Cazan was more than her magnificent work and he wanted her to know that because sometimes it seemed like even she didn’t believe it.

He did know she loved that sweet bread they tried earlier so perhaps he’d take her back for more after dancing a bit. He had never been huge on the activity, not like many people he knew, but T’ryn could still hold his own on the dance floor and thought it would be fun to do with Cazan and help shake off more of the drama from days earlier.

But that plan was also interrupted as a man that was clearly a lord of some level came over and seemed to know Cazan. When the attention was turned his way, T’ryn froze, unsure of what to make of this Yfris and why he had to point out how he viewed him. Thankfully, Cazan came to his rescue with returning the introduction and worked enough to snap him out of his shock and nod in greeting while giving Cazan’s hand a squeeze. He liked how she had done the introduction and it made him smile. “Pleasure to meet you, Lord Yfris. It sounds like the two of you go back a bit but with some missed time between then and now. Would you like to join us for a drink or bite to eat? I was about to suggest we take a break from stall wandering.”

“No, my dear bronzerider; this is only courtesy. Pleasure comes later.” He winked at the man and laughed when he got the same wide-eyed shock simply calling T’ryn hot received. “I like him, Cazzy! I bet he’s a lot of fun once you loosen some of those buttons holding him upright and get him to stop using titles.” He’d known the man all of two minutes but so far so good! He hadn’t done anything negative toward him; not even an eye roll! The guy even invited him along to spend more time with them on what was clearly a date.

“I would love to! But I’m meant to go steal Tazikel off the dance floor soon,” Yfris playfully pouted and leaned in close to the couple to whisper, “he’s afraid I’m going to get myself into trouble without him. Not sure if that means he wants to stop the trouble or to join in. Hard to say with him.” Yfris straightened and looped his arm with Cazan’s free one though he had been tempted to tease T’ryn further by taking his.

“Perhaps one drink can be slipped in before I slip out. I’m far too entranced by you both to leave just yet.” He was playing it a bit over the top but what was life without a little fun and drama?

Was Yfris always this flirty? It was hard to remember since they'd both spent quite a bit of time just trying to tolerate their parents and pretending to be proper. She did remember that he was one of if not the most tolerable men her mother had introduced to her. She couldn't help but turn a shade red and laugh when he mentioned loosening T'ryn's buttons. "Thank you, I like him too, though I find him quite fun in general, no matter the state of his buttons." Cazan gave T'ryn another small squeeze, happy that she could not only show him off, but that other people seemed to appreciate him as well. Even if that other person was an old suitor.

Her thoughts wandered back to the bath when she'd found out that T'ryn had slept with other men before and she couldn't help but be a little bit curious of how much Yfris's flirtations meant. It wasn't anything she was about to encourage, but if something happened... she might be a bit curious to see how it turned out. She certainly wasn't about to say anything while they were out on a date.

"A drink sounds fun," just one, she reminded herself. "How have you been, Yfris? Have you married that younger woman your parents finally settled on? I think I remember that's what happened at least. Mother was quite disappointed." She grinned at the thought of her mother's constant fretting and disappointment in her failures to marry Cazan off. At least now that she had a dragon she'd escaped those machinations. And she had T'ryn now, someone she'd found all on her own and suited her much better than anyone her mother had tried to introduce.

"Oh, you know me. I'm always doing well. Mostly ignored and left to my own devices so long as I don't bring shame and ruin to the Hold. You know how it is," Yris hand waved the comment as if it wasn't that big of a deal. And he knew Cazan knew exactly how it was as well given their chats at that delightfully dull dinner. They both had better things to do and places they would much rather be and he had to admit, it was impressive at how far she had been willing to go to forge her own path.

He led them to an open-sided tent that had rows of tables and chairs, claiming a spot that wasn't too busy before disappearing to grab them drinks. "On me since I so rudely interrupted your date. Ale for all. Thought we would keep it simple given the time and place. We can be classy fucks another time and sip our wine as we look down our noses at others. Tazikel is a master of giving looks of disdain so it wouldn't feel quite right without him."

He settled into the chair opposite the pair and continued smiling brightly. The look on T'ryn's face was one he was used to getting. The boy couldn't decide when he was serious or joking and it was bothering him. Just the way Yfris liked it. He waited until Cazan had finished having a drink before returning to the question posed not too long ago--though he had noticed T'ryn hadn't touched his drink yet.

"Oh, my young bride-to-be passed away last year. Some sort of ailment. Or was it a horse accident? No, no, I think she was ill." It was sickness that claimed the girl's life but he couldn' let them think he was actually responsible in any way. It was nice when everyone believed he was a complete slacker so when he genuinely messed up, it was just another silly mistake by the silly second son.

"I also don't think your mother is quite disappointed anymore. Once she caught word, the letters started again... what's your stance on open relationships? Perhaps polyamorous?" He gave another wink to T'ryn who looked like he was already piecing together what was about to be said. "You mother wishes us to be wed, Cazzy. Something about how I'm possibly the only lord on Pern that wouldn't mind you bringing home a dragon. I haven't decided if I'm flattered or not."

This was a much nicer way to spend time together than sitting stiffly at a dinner table wearing stuffy clothing while parents hovered and tried to convince them both to be so impressed with the other. Cazan was so glad that T'ryn hadn't been forced to go through any of that with her. She couldn't help but grin at his brief summary. "Ah yes, the time honored tradition of not bringing attention to yourself. I was doing rather well for a while, before I decided to run away and accidentally became quite attached to an attention grabbing golden giant." She gave her boyfriend a fond smile, reaching down to give his thigh a fond squeeze. "I don't mind though, I got to meet T'ryn while out on this little adventure and I'm quite happy with him."

When the ale arrived she grinned and took a long sip before nodding and thanking him. "Thank you, Yfris, you are kinder than you try to pretend." She smirked, taking another long drink before shaking her head. "You can be classy fucks and sip wine without looking down your noses at people you know. Or the other way around, though I suppose it would be much more boring to be snooty without wine." She didn't take him seriously though and waggled her finger at him disapprovingly before finishing off her ale. "You're too good at sharing to be that much of a dick, Yfris."

Cazan wished she still had ale left when he continued though. His intended bride passing away from an illness was sad, but completely shoved out of her mind as soon as he mentioned her mother. Because of course she'd still try to do this even though she'd impressed to a dragon. She eyed T'ryn's drink, quite tempted to just try and steal it but instead just flatly asked, "How far has she gotten with this newest plan of hers? Please tell me your parents aren't taking this seriously. I have a boyfriend! And a dragon!"

"Well, we knew about the dragon but not the boyfriend. Though, really now. I don't see a problem with extra company." Since lover boy didn't seem interested in the ale for whatever reason, Yfris helped himself to it--he did pay for it after all--and slid it over to Cazan. He hadn't missed the way she eyed it after hearing the news. "You seem in need of that. Assuming you aren't about to drink and dragon." He didn't know much about the inner workings of the dragon bond but something about a clear mind seemed important and too many drinks didn't seem wise. But it was still early and surely the woman could handle two drinks.

"Your mother seems insistent and my parents are listening but I think they're still waiting for a reply from the Lord Holder and a Weyrleader to see who you actually belong to and if this is something that could work." He had sort of paid attention when his father told him about the proposition. And then he sort of eavesdropped on further conversations so he knew they liked the idea of linking their Holds together and his parents viewed Cazan as a bit wild and her parents viewed him the same way so it made sense they should toss them together to help keep a closer eye on them. Or something. That's where he had stopped listening and wandered off.

"But enough about that dreariness for now! I feel a bit bad dropping that on you as I'm about to make my departure. I'm staying here for several days if you're free to come back. We should catch up and talk about far lovelier things. Like your life in the Weyr and how T'ryn looks in your creations. You can't tell me you haven't used him for a model. Look at him!" Yfris grinned and then slammed back the rest of his ale in preparation to depart.

T'ryn fell silent during the encounter, originally because he didn't know how to handle Yfris. The man was friendly, perhaps too friendly, but otherwise he was interesting and just seemed like he enjoyed flirting for the sake of it. When the talk of marriage came up, he stayed silent for a whole new reason. Cazan had expressed her stance on the subject before and was happy to have a dragon to avoid having to go back to the lie and what was expected of her. Or so they thought. Could she still be married off to a lord? Would Yfris have to move to the Weyr? Cazan couldn't go to a Hold, especially with a gold. If she had been a greenrider, maybe they could have made Malvayth the Hold watch dragon or something.

He was confident, however, that Cazan would stand her ground and confront her mother when she could. Likely in three months when Malvayth could travel that far. He was also mostly confident that Cazan was happy with him and wouldn't trade him in for the smooth-talking and blunt lord. Not that he blamed Yfris and in fact, when the offer to get together came, T'ryn jumped on it first.

"You should! Despite the current news, it sounds like you two have some history and need to catch up." He turned to face Cazan and took her hand in his as he smiled, showing he was completely okay with it. "I saw your face light up when you recognized him. I'm happy there's someone from that life that you're still interested in seeing. If you tell G'nen and Rhaedalyn that you have an old friend in the area for only a few days that you wish to see before you're stuck on the sands, they'll let you come down again. I know it." Rhaedalyn was, from everything he'd heard, a softie and would melt at the idea of long lost friends reuniting. G'nen would do it out of guilt for the Flight if nothing else.

"And I imagine you'll cover more topics without me around to distract Yfris. He seems to latch onto flirting first and everything else is a distant second."

Somehow Cazan just couldn't bring herself to be surprised that her mother would have not only continued with her plans to marry her off, but would have somehow made progress. She eagerly took the ale and gulped down half of it before shaking her head. "I'll be fine... it's just one more."

She scowled to hear that his parents were listening. "Mal couldn't fit in a hold. Not safely at least." The thought of Mal rampaging around a hold and getting into mischief was pretty amusing though, and that combined with the bit of extra drink helped to chase the scowl away. "Heh, I wonder how long it would take before Mal and I were kicked out of a hold... I could probably get her to behave for a few days, but after that she would find something to get into without her friends around."

Cazan shook her head. It wouldn't matter either way. She had T'ryn and once her mother found out she was sure to stop with this nonsense. When the conversation was directed back towards her boyfriend she grinned and nodded, her cheeks turning red from a combination of memory and drink. "Oh, I have definitely used him to model. You should see the pants I made for him, they look painted on." With her boyfriend's encouragement she nodded. "I'll have to convince them to let me come back to the Gather then. It will be fun to catch up, and I can show you a few patterns I've been working on." She finished her second ale and lowered her voice conspiratorially as she said, "Then whenever T'ryn gets back if you're still around I'll try to convince him to show them off."

While he loved those pants and loved even more Cazan’s reaction every time she saw him in them, T’ryn still wasn’t quite used to the attention. He was getting better and even flattered that he could draw the eye of many while wearing them but becoming the topic of conversation made him want to squirm in his seat or find any reason to excuse himself for a bit so he didn’t have to hear it. But he always stayed because he didn’t want to give off the wrong impression and have someone believe he wasn’t proud of Cazan’s work.

“If you’re not sick of each other by the end of your visit, I’ll join you and maybe even wear the mystical pants. I probably will because Cazan is very convincing. Maybe I should bring Yfris up to the Weyr so we don’t push your luck with the leaders and he can see what Weyr life is like. I imagine you haven’t been in one before?” He turned the question to Yfris under the assumption most holders didn’t know what was hidden within the mountains.

Yfris gave a wide smile at the idea of getting together with his lovely fiancée—or whatever he was supposed to call her. He had a feeling it would be co-conspirator soon enough as they would likely work together to bring down the silly idea their parents were brewing between them. “Great! That all sounds perfect and you can sort out the details of times and what not and send me a message. I’m sure you have firelizards all over the place for that sort of thing.”

Yfris got to his feet and gave a dramatic sweeping bow to the couple. “I’ll take my leave and be out of your hair for now. I’m sure my babysitter will be wondering what mischief I’m getting into without him if I’m gone much longer.” He blew them each a kiss and finally departed. No doubt he left T’ryn confused and Cazan amused. He himself was thrilled. Gathers really were auspicious occasions!

Well, this was certainly turning out better, though maybe it was that second ale she was having. Cazan couldn't help but be pleased with her boyfriend who was willing to put on the magnificent pants that she'd made for him to show them off, even if they were far more powerful than he would have preferred. "Showing him around the Weyr could be fun. I'm sure we'll figure it out. And I'll find some time to stop by to pester you soon I'm sure, Yfris."

The ale had her feeling cheeky enough to blow him a farewell kiss in return, though as soon as he'd gone she turned to T'ryn, her face returning to a much more casually disappointed expression. "I can't believe my mother would do this. I mean I can... she's certainly audacious enough to think she could still try to marry me off after I impressed a gold dragon."

She sighed and leaned over against her boyfriend as she shook her head. "Ah well, I'm sure when I stop by to visit him later we'll figure something out to stop all of this nonsense. Unless he gets distracted. Oh, and speaking of distractions," Cazan turned her head to set a soft kiss to T'ryn's cheek. "You don't really have to wear the pants if you don't want to. I could try to make slightly different pants, ones that aren't so form fitting so that you can wear them in public without drawing everyone's attention."

“I’ll wear whatever you want me to wear. I love showing off your work,” T’ryn wrapped an arm around her to help snuggle Cazan in closer. “And I want you to be happy and enjoy your time with Yfris. You can worry about your mother later. I’m not worried by any of it.” It was an odd situation, sure, but it currently didn’t rank very high on the list of things he needed to panic over. Cazan’s mother would realise soon enough that she couldn’t marry off her goldrider daughter to a lord and the subject would be dropped. Of course there was the risk of it then turning into finding a suitable bronzerider and that he wouldn’t qualify as suitable but that was also something for later.

“So, what would you like to do next on our day of freedom?” T’ryn noticed the flushed cheeks and knew food would be in order soon and maybe some water. It was kind of adorable how easily his girlfriend fell to alcohol but he didn’t want her to get into any level of trouble, especially from G’nen and in front of the class. But the curfew on her class was still several hours away so plenty of time to have fun and send her back sober.

Cazan turned a slightly deeper shade of red as a a couple of thoughts ran through her head. The first was that perhaps she would want him to wear nothing at all, and though he had definitely worn that particular non-outfit before for her thinking it directly seemed almost scandalous, especially while they were out and about. The second thought was her boyfriend seemed to be quite big on sharing, which she supposed made sense. There had been at least one other woman he'd been seeing that she knew of back when they had started having fun together before she impressed. And he had been very supportive about the entire G'nen situation, which made sense since it was a flight. Either way, if T'ryn wasn't worried and he wanted her to have fun, then she would just have to see where things went the next time she saw Yfris.

She gave him one more kiss as she considered his question. "I should probably buy some leather, some supplies. Mal has been pestering me about firelizards so if I see a cute stuffed one that she can cuddle I might get that. And maybe we could get something as a souvenir of the day. If you see any beads or a metal finding that you like I could make you a bracelet." Worried that all sounded terribly boring and a bit too work-like she added, "I'd be up for another round of dancing if you wanted, but I think just cuddling with you sounds like a grand time after all of that."

Finally,” T’ryn laughed, glad Cazan stopped pretending she hadn’t been scouting out places for work purchases or explaining it would be for later. He didn’t mind and that was what Gathers were for. “Your dedication to your craft is one of the many things I adore about you, Caz.” Hopefully she would believe him this time and stop trying to avoid doing something because it led back to leather.

“I think a hunt for the perfect firelizard doll will be a good challenge for us. If we come up empty-handed, I heard that one of the female greenriders at Telgar likes to make stuffed dolls so I can track her down and commission her for Malvayth.” Maybe he would do that anyway to help build up a little collection of fake flitters to keep the gold happy and distracted from getting real ones.

“No need for dancing. I think cuddling with some cocoa near the harpers sounds better.” He gave Cazan a kiss and then smiled. “Not every moment has to be action-packed. The quiet moments are just as nice.” A hot drink, his hot girlfriend, and music. That sounded like the perfect way to wrap up the day and T’ryn stood, offering his hand to Cazan again before returning to the shopping expedition.
