He wondered if R'nya would owe him for this or if this was part of what he owed the Weyrleader for getting Aederyn out of the Healer Hall arrangement. He had a swooning teenager in his arms that thankfully hadn't fainted yet, though it had been close. Even with the setting sun casting warmer hues on everyone and thing, D'hys could see the blush and how embarrassed Madiquel was--either over the entire situation or her awkward way with words. He knew the girl could be far more articulate than this and decided too much conversation would be troublesome.
"I'm glad, but if you want to feign a hurt foot, I wouldn't mind scooping you up and whisking you away from this dreary location," he chuckled and smiled at Madiquel, trying to play the part of what he thought an innocent teen girl would find attractive. He didn't want to push it too far as it would come off insincere and contrast with his everyday personality and behaviour that she had surely seen in the past. But they had never had much in the way of true interactions, definitely not one on one like this so showing a softer and sweeter side would lead her to believe it was only for her and maybe a select few.
"If not that, may I escort you to the dance square and ask you for a dance, Princess? I've been here all day and I haven't had the chance or found the right partner and you seem like someone that knows her way around the dance floor." He didn't think it mattered in the end who did the asking, only that they danced together so D'hys didn't think he could be faulted for steering them in the direction of the goal before eventually being able to extract himself with Madiquel's heart still intact and maybe with a few new fantasies to keep her panties wet.
