“Worry about healing, don’t go making promises about visiting anyone yet,” F’drel said with a soft sigh at Quinvalis’ sheer determination to make people happy, barely a minute into consciousness after a major injury. “Miri will wait to see you until you’re ready.” Halomirth nodded her head vigorously in agreement, though no one could see it.
To Quin’s question, F’drel just shook his head. “I’m no Healer, so I really don’t know. Do what they tell you and don’t aggravate anything if you can help it, and you can reduce scarring. Once it’s healed more I know you can massage the new skin with oil, like you would a dragons’ hide, and that helps some. But,” he continued, unconsciously switching more into his older brother voice, “I don’t think any girl who’s too into scars is a girl you want interested in you.” Why would anyone be into scars? Physical proof a person you, in theory, cared about went through pain and trauma? No, if someone was attracted to scars it meant they didn’t care about the person themself. Or liked being the source of them, which was worse. F’drel didn’t really like the idea at all. Better to warn Quinvalis off that idea early.
“You’ll heal, Quin,” he said quietly, squeezing Quinvalis’ hand a little to emphasize the point. “It might suck on the way there, but you’ll get there. Miri and I will help, if you let us.”
