More dragonets cracking shells and more things happening. August tried to stand still but it was a losing battle as she shifted back and forth on her feet. The greens were wonderful, bronze and brown and blue. She loved all the colors, knowing as she watched that she'd made the right decision in leaving it all to come here. When the gold burst out in the middle of a pack of greens, August stood up straighter. It was the terribly rude gold, the one who had mocked and condescended her scars. Perhaps being in the shell had made her cranky, the weight and cramped nature of the eggs would have made even her cranky, and she watched.
She stepped out of the way of the bumbling dragonets, gold and green wrestling on the ground as the sought their lifemates. She grimaced as one of the girls was clawed on the thigh and then fought down a cheer as she impressed. It didn't matter to August that Sariel had impressed the gold and August hadn't even turned the head of the greens, it only meant that the gold was alive still. Sariel would do well and August hoped she would be well with her injuries. August raised a hand to cover the giggles brought about by the words of the gold.
Another green had been hiding and August hoped for a moment that she would be chosen, but it wasn't meant to be. Green impressed to a boy and a fine brown broke from his shell and impressed his boy. She sighed at the fantasy of it all and tried to stand still again. So much happening at once, she loved it and hated it at the same time. She smiled and waited for more to happen.
