He woke up far more relaxed than he had been since coming to Fort. Spending the day with Mylo had done wonders for him and Dandioar was already awake when the humming began. Being awake at awful hours of the morning was a habit from home he'd never been able to shake since coming to be a candidate. The fact that hatches happened at all hours of the day and night didn't help matters either. He could feel the beginnings of excitement in his chest, the heat caused by his slight anxiety spread through his body and breath puffed out in short burst before he got it under control.
His feet were shoved into sturdy boots before his robes were tossed over his body. His fit, which was a miracle, but he'd made sure he brought the ones he had from Ista. Tigger was reminded to stay in the stands during the hatch, Dandi knew the little bronze would find one of the dragons he knew to sidle up to while they watched the hatch. One last tug of his robes and Dandioar made his way towards the hatchings sands.
He was nervous as he entered, tossing the garbage from his quick breakfast in the can made available and he skirted around to find a place as he nodded hellos to the candidates he knew. He didn't know what would happen today, would he impress? Would he go home empty-handed again? He didn't know and it made him nervous and he instantly regretted the pastry he'd sucked down. What if this hatch was being sneaky and ended up being exactly like Thallyath's? Dandi grimaced as he shuffled his feet. He didn't want to think it would, the touching hadn't been as crazy as Thallyath's but Dandi couldn't tell the future.
He shifted again as he waited.
