General Appearance: Fediletch's height and broad shoulders combined with his small squinted gaze make him appear more fearsome and imposing than he means to be. His hands are rough and covered in small scars, a combination of slips with the butcher's knife and split knuckles from a hard punch. He has a scar over his lip and one over his eyebrow from a few brawls he's been in on his siblings behalf as well. He's athletic and muscular in build from a life filled with manual labor. He's been told this lends a bit to him being almost ruggedly handsome (though he's also been told he should grow a beard for that).

While Fediletch maintains good posture and stands tall he does his best to not loom, and avoids holding himself in aggressive stances unless he is specifically trying to be intimidating. His movements are generally purposeful and coordinated if not quite flowing or graceful. His expression tends towards somber unless he's actively engaged in conversation and manages a smile that lights up his face.

Dressing Style: Fediletch tries to keep himself (and his surroundings for that matter) neat and clean. He doesn't own any fancy clothing, instead focusing on practical and durable garments. He does his best to maintain his clothes as best he can with skills taught to him by his mother. He isn't afraid of getting dirty during the course of work or play, but he is quick to change and clean back up once he's done.

Personality

General Character Traits: Fediletch is a confident young man who knows he can be imposing to others, and has the talents to back himself up in a fight on the few occasions he gets into them. He'd much rather take verbal abuse and move on with his life, but when he does need to react (usually when someone is insulting a friend rather than himself) he finds that merely standing up and calmly staring someone down works very well to get people to back off. At the same time he's not insecure about his lack of intelligence. He learned a long time ago that things go by much more smoothly if he just admits when he doesn't know or understand something and gets help.

He tries to be as helpful as possible, hoping that through his actions and helpfulness he'll win the friends that he can't just charm with wit like other people can. As the oldest of a pack of children, he's quite capable of giving orders and direction in an assertive manner, though it usually works best when someone else gives him guidance on what orders to give when it's a situation he's not familiar with. He's more talented with physical puzzles than he is with word puzzles and riddles (he can remember the answers if it's a riddle he's heard before). The possibility of getting a dragon is the main motivator he has for trying to improve his mental skills with lessons.

Habits/Mannerisms: He runs his hands through his hair when he's confused or trying to think. When his hands are dirty and covered in blood he tries to remember not to, instead cracking his knuckles and twiddling his fingers.

Likes:
Art: Fediletch enjoys recreating the world he sees on paper. His favorite thing to do is to watch and draw pictures of dragons and people.
Helping People: It makes him feel useful and important whenever he can help someone, even if that help is just to pick something heavy up.
Dragons: He thinks they're the most majestic and beautiful things in the world. They've always fascinated him and he was so excited when they came back. He's willing to try and be as helpful as he can so that maybe one day he can get a dragon of his own.

Dislikes:
Fish: He once tried to butcher a fish with the same zeal he would apply towards a beef carcass. The results were not pretty (and in fact quite smelly).
People who are mean to his friends: He doesn't care if people pick on him, but his friends are all very nice and very smart and don't deserve that nonsense.
Drinking: Most of his father's fights were while he was drunk, so Fediletch tries to avoid alcohol and drunks when he can.

Strengths:
Self Aware: He knows he's not the smartest, even knows he's slow and dull, but he knows what he's good at, and he's willing to ask for help for everything he isn't. He is more than willing to admit when he's wrong or made a mistake.
Quick Reflexes: Fediletch has a natural athleticism that helps when it comes to dodging, catching, throwing, and other quick reactions. He does not have a tendency to hesitate (which can get him into trouble in other ways).
Observant: Fediletch is good at noticing and remembering small visual details. He usually uses this for his art, but it also helps him remember things like maps and butcher meat charts.

Flaws:
Not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed: Fetch is not bright, he's not the best at non physical puzzles and creative thinking and has trouble when given an abstract task without direction.
Easy to Manipulate: Once he's decided he likes someone it's hard to shake. He's very forgiving and will go out of his way to help people. Unfortunately this makes it really easy for people to manipulate him. He trusts his smarter friends and can be easy to confuse. He tends to be trusting unless he's been told by another smart person to be wary.
Claustrophobic: He can put up with being underground for the sake of staying near the dragons, but he needs to get out and into the open regularly. Smaller more cramped confines fill him with dread and he's likely to rush through any task that requires him to be in a confined space.

They talk briefly, but Fediletch doesn't quite follow along with the subtleties in the conversation. The topic of leaving home to go somewhere with his mother's friend comes up but Fediletch already promised to help his father with some things so he declines. The man and his mother both seem disappointed for some reason, but even after he leaves his mother won't answer any of Fediletch's questions and tells him not to speak of her friend to anyone, especially his father.

Fediletch starts to broaden and bulk up, making him appear to be almost a giant in comparison to his father. Parents begin fighting more whenever he's around and his father sends him to help a butcher to learn a useful skill and to avoid looking at his son more than necessary.

Gets close to the butcher's daughter, Fiona. She's pretty and out of his league, but despite his shortcomings she enjoys how easy it is for her to tell him what to do and boss him around. She has him do some errands and small favors for her on the side and makes sure he knows not to mention any of it to her father. His relationship with his own father grows increasingly distant and strained, and in his absence his siblings have started talking to him less as well.

The butcher confronts Fediletch about one of the favors he's been doing for Fiona. He doesn't say anything to give her up, but shortly after the butcher and Fiona have some sort of argument. A month later she is sent away to be married in a far off hold. With no real reason to keep him anymore, Fediletch heads to Telgar to try and get himself a dragon or at least be near them. Since his arrival he's been doing his best to try and be the best candidate he can be by attending as many classes as possible and helping with odd jobs and manual labor.

Education Details: Fediletch didn't have any real opportunity for education outside of learning on the job. He knows how to clean and butcher an animal, can even identify some of the cuts, but he never learned to read (outside of numbers and identifying currency) and only has basic math skills. Since coming to the Weyr he's been attending classes when he can and working to practice his reading. Surprisingly he can write rather well and has good penmanship, though he does so by drawing words rather than understanding what the symbols actually mean. He's always had an easier time with numbers though since they've always appeared to be different colors for him.

It had been a very long, very trying, and very confusing day for Fetch. Longer than that really, at least a week, or a month, or a year even depending on where he wanted to place the blame for the ultimate source of the confusion. He was alone for now in the smoke shed, covered in blood and salt from hanging up all of the haunches to cure when he'd gotten the news. The butcher had thought he was going to be angry, so he'd kept his words brief then left. Fiona had thought he was going to be sad, so she hadn't even been there.

He wasn't either of those things really; tired perhaps, even a little disappointed, but not angry or sad. Even he could see that something like this was coming, even if it still surprised him a little that it went this far. Fetch honestly had no idea how big an impact the small favors he'd done for Fiona had on the business, but it had obviously been enough to piss her father off. It had almost cost him his job and now she was being shipped off to some far off hold to marry some businessman. Even if she hadn't gotten caught, she'd have found a smarter man to marry, probably one of the ones she was already seeing on the side. Fetch was stupid, not blind. Still, this wasn't how he'd thought it would all go down. It felt so sudden.

Fetch took a seat on a sack of salt, his body falling wearily with a grunt as he considered his options. His mother was always trying to encourage him to go do something with his life further than help the butcher on the other side of the Hold, his younger siblings had grown distant as they'd gotten older and he was away more, and his father always tried to pick a fight with him whenever he was there. He turned his gaze to the sky and happened to catch sight of a dragon flying overhead in the distant clouds. He grinned as the idea hit him. He'd go to the Weyr, and he'd do whatever it took to try and be worthy of a dragon. And even if he couldn't, he'd at least be able to see them more regularly. He stood up, decision made as he went to go deliver the news and pack his things.
