Between Kitt’s arms around him, Zeianth’s calming words, and his sister’s soft nuzzling, Erebuth finally began to calm down. His eyes were still an unhappy orange, but were slowly shifting as his anger left. The blue sat abruptly, the energy from his outrage gone as quickly as the frenzy had come over him.
Suddenly feeling immensely guilty, he asked in his gravelly voice, are you okay? The blue checked him over from head to toe, nosing him to turn or move and startling a slightly hysterical sobbing laugh from the young man.
Re, I’m fine. Maybe a bruised tailbone and definitely bruised dignity, but otherwise fine. B’kit turned to D’hys. “We’re alright. Just rattled.” He let out a breath shakily. “Thank you. You didn’t… you didn’t have to intervene, but I’m grateful you did.”
A slight furrow appeared between his brows as he saw the redness forming on the man’s jaw where he’d been hit, and glanced at his hands to see if they were bruising too, but they seemed fine. Clearly the man knew what he was doing when he’d fought back, and perhaps something about that was a little unsettling, but Kitt shoved that feeling down before Erebuth’s hair trigger could go off again. He’d helped them, that was the important part. “Do you need some ice for that? We could probably scrounge some up.”
