“It would be more than alright,” Tala smiled, tilting her head invitingly and leaning closer. She didn’t try to press her mouth to Helyna’s, wanting to let her choose the moment. She had asked to kiss Tala after all, and Tala planned to give her what she wanted.
Hearing about the sorts of things that were ‘frowned upon’ in the Halls and Holds always made Tala a little sad. She had a number of holdbred friends, and they all had so many hang ups about all sorts of things that Tala just thought of as how things were. As long as she’d been aware of kissing as a thing she could do, Tala had known she wanted to kiss girls (and boys, usually) and as soon as she’d had the opportunity she’d done so and not thought overly much about it. But people like Helyna weren’t able to be so casual about such things - at all, and much less so with people of their own gender. That Helyna and her husband had married so they didn’t have to marry anyone else… it was a little heartbreaking, Tala felt. And poor Vondal never got the chance to realize things could be better.
Not Helyna, though. She had the chance to live a proper life at a Weyr, and Tala would help her, though hardly solely out of the goodness of her heart - Helyna was very pretty, and clever, and fun to be around, and Tala was weak when it came to headstrong women. It was a flaw she was perfectly aware of and had little motivation to change. Letting Helyna kiss her as much as she liked was much more enjoyable than needlessly denying herself the pleasure.
