Month 05, 741 AL

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself uncommonly warm (~12C / 53.6) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.

December 2017

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

The first coherent thought F’drel managed was a realization that he was not in his weyr, as he’d hoped. Apparently he was completely incapable of noticing when Halomirth was going to Fly - he’d only avoided being completely surprised by a Flight a total of once. Not a great record, especially since it ended with things like a Flight in his closest friend’s weyr that said friend did not win. This one had involved F’drel stopping mid-step when he’d figured out what Miri was up to, dread (and the inevitable lust) washing over him as he did his best to get back to his weyr before Miri was caught. Clearly, he’d failed. Not that he was too surprised he hadn’t managed it, F’drel hadn’t been able to get anywhere without some man trying to block his way or grab him, and what should have been a straightforward path to his weyr got a lot more complicated. Honestly, couldn’t they fucking wait a few minutes? Just follow him or something. Didn’t other people prefer a private weyr with a bed to storage rooms or other people’s weyrs? Of course not, it was a fucking Weyr and none of these exhibitionists had any concept of privacy.

As much as F’drel felt he should have noticed she was close to Flying sooner, he could give himself a bit of leeway due to how unpredictable she’d been so far. The only time he hadn’t been surprised, after all, was almost exactly a turn after her first Flight. Which had made him assume the second Flight of the turn would happen at the same time it had the turn before, but no, that had been a month early, and now, as evidenced but the room that was definitely not his weyr and the warm body he was curled up with, Miri was apparently flying three times a turn instead of two. Or was this one a fluke and it would be two from then on. F’drel didn’t hold out hope for it, though. That wasn’t how his life worked.

There were more immediate concerns, after all, like where he was, since it wasn’t his weyr, and who the fuck he was wrapped around and how fast he needed to get the fuck out of wherever it was. F’drel honestly wasn’t thrilled with how Miri’s cuddliness extended to him after a Flight - if it was someone he wanted to get away from quickly, he was less like to escape unnoticed if he had to disentangle himself from the person first. Tentatively he reached out to Miri, trying to figure out who she was currently ecstatic to be snuggling (and therefore who he was snuggling), preferring checking through her to shifting around and drawing attention to himself trying to figure it out visually. He practically went limp in relief. Syrendryth (no wonder she was so terribly pleased with herself a bronze), which meant it was T’ryn’s shoulder his face was pressed against. F’drel didn’t have to flee from T’ryn.

F’drel was still perfectly capable of coming up with reasons T’ryn could be upset with the situation (and therefore with him) but, somehow, he’d come to like the young bronzerider, and even more inexplicably he felt safe that T’ryn wouldn’t do anything to him. They weren’t all that close - not anything like his friendship with R’dal - but they did spend time together on occasion, a way to be social without actually being all that social. It placated Mylorah, at least some of the time. But even without talking all that much F’drel felt he’d gotten at least a sense of T’ryn as a person, and it surprised him that he even slightly trusted a bronzerider, considered him a good person. Two, actually, the other being A’tay, but A’tay was still a child, really, and had only just graduated from Weyrlinghood, so didn’t register much as a bronzerider to F’drel. All the bronzeriders F’drel knew from a distance had much more of a sense of superiority. The only other one he’d had much interaction with was M’ris, who always felt like he was more or less subtly threatening F’drel. Even if R’dal had finally told him they weren’t dating, M’ris still seemed to care way too much about F’drel’s life for him to feel comfortable around the man. On top of the whole Weyrleader thing, that didn’t help. T’ryn felt more like a bronzerider than A’tay, but was far less dangerous than M’ris or a less known bronzerider. Perhaps A’tay and T’ryn turned out less entitled because they weren’t raised thinking they would be bronzeriders? Not the way lords grew up knowing they would be lords, certainly, that sense of superiority was instilled in them young, while neither T’ryn nor A’tay had developed it yet. Hopefully they wouldn’t ever, but if they spent enough turns being treated as bronzeriders, F’drel couldn’t say that wouldn’t get to them...

Honestly, F’drel needed to get better at this Flight thing, he kept falling into internal tangents and almost drifting off instead of dealing with the current situation. He got the sense Miri intentionally swamped him with her own emotions even beyond the usual for a Flight in an attempt to get him to relax for more than three seconds. From how pleased she was she clearly felt she was succeeding. F’drel couldn’t even get annoyed about it, though the reluctance to move was inconvenient. He had bare skin against a stone floor which was both chilly and uncomfortable, he ached all over, and there was what he thought was the corner of a piece of furniture pressed against the back of his thigh and despite all that F’drel was failing to get past Miri’s lazy contentment in order to find out where he was or move somewhere that was a little less of a cold stone floor.

Stop fussing, you’re thinking too loud, Halomirth informed him languidly, pressing closer to Syrendryth. F’drel sighed audibly, shifting his head just enough he could open his eyes to look around, though he wasn’t quite able to block out Miri’s overwhelming aura of ‘snuggles good, we are so content and tired, we should stay like this for a while’ enough to actually let go of T’ryn and start getting up.

T'ryn came back to himself feeling rather fuzzy and more than a little confused. He was sore, felt like he was on the floor, and had someone snuggling with him. His immediate thought was 'what did he get up to with Casa this time?' Did he agree to try some other crazy substance she discovered? That didn't seem likely and he learned not to accept just any drink or food when with her though he also knew she wouldn't purposely drug him in secret. That meant it likely wasn't Casa in his arms and it was probably a Flight. Was a gold due? He didn't think so, knowing most had recently Flown. But the fogginess and blank spots were pretty spot on to how he felt after waking up beside Mulrissa both times.

Holy crap, did Syrendryth chase a green? Did this mean he didn't have to worry about Syrendryth and Bedith being mates?

T'ryn felt Syrendryth bristle at that though he also confirmed some of that to be true. Chased and won, thank you. I'm now three for three. T'ryn frowned at the math, finding that more pressing than his arrogant dragon chasing greens and forgetting about Bedith. Umm... I think you're forgetting Thallyath's Flight that you lost. Again, the bristling, this time accompanied by the arrogance T'ryn knew well with a hint of anger at bringing up the gold that wasn't liked. I only did that for your benefit but I hardly tried. When I do try, I win, obviously. Besides, you didn't hang out with the losers but walked back to your room alone, so it really doesn't count. T'ryn didn't feel like arguing, especially once Syrendryth calmed down and sent them both increased levels of a desire to snuggle. Who the heck was his stoic dragon curled up with?

And then T'ryn remembered the pre-Flight the same time Syrendryth casually pointed out, Halomirth.

At least the lingering confusion made sense now. He had entered the Flight confused over Syrendryth desiring a green, even one as sweet as Halomirth. And then there was the fact that F'drel, someone he considered a friend, was Halomirth's rider and T'ryn was fairly confident that neither of them were attracted to each other. Not that that mattered for Flights since those were for the dragons but the waking up naked in each other's arms was sometimes awkward and T'ryn liked their easy quiet and tension-free visits. But if he could figure out how to behave around Mulrissa, he could do it around F'drel as well.

Oh, and then there was the fact that a certain pretty blonde that seemed far too amused by everything had found his confused and stumbling ass and dragged him in the right direction because F'drel had not been easy to find. He also recalled the final shove she gave him toward F'drel after Syrendryth won but he had no idea what happened to Casa after that.

But really--why was his life constantly throwing the oddest situations at him?

When he heard F'drel sigh, T'ryn nodded. He felt that way too. He was in a state of resignation because the dragons' emotions were still overruling their own and one of contentment because yeah--cuddles were nice. "Agreed," he murmured, hating that he wasn't inclined to get off of the hard floor but didn't want to lose the human contact just yet either. He just wished they were in a bed but at least now he had some personal experience to know just how lucky he had been both times with Mulrissa. And now he had his own odd location story--once he knew what their location was.

F’drel startled a little when T’ryn responded to his sigh; he hadn’t realized the bronzerider was awake. At least the jolt of surprise was enough to wake him up a little more, and he lifted his head a little to look around, though F’drel didn’t remove his arms from around T’ryn or untangle their legs - because that wasn’t awkward at all, but losing any more contact since he’d moved his head was just so unappealing at the moment he didn’t even care that much.

It wasn’t a particularly large room, but also not tiny, and the walls were filled with shelves. That was what was pressing into F’drel’s thigh, the corner of one of the shelves. Looking more closely the shelves seemed pretty empty, and F’drel was having some difficulty determining the purpose of the room. Was it simply an unused storage room? There was a table and chair on the other side of the room - the chair was currently on its side on the floor - and there were papers spread out on the table. Was it a workroom of some sort?

“Do you know where we are?” he asked quietly, voice a little rough. “I’ve never been in here before.” Which meant F’drel didn’t know how worried he should be about making a mess of the place and how quickly he should make sure to get it cleaned up. His default answer was ‘as soon as possible,’ but if it was completely unused Halomirth might convince him he could take a nap first. Maybe.

You should invite T’ryn to nap with you, Halomirth said, all innocence. She was planning to keep Syrendryth around for as much of the rest of the day as she could, which would hopefully include at least one nap. F’drel sighed and settled his head back against T’ryn’s shoulder. As little as he wanted to move, there was no way he was going to knowingly fall back asleep on this floor at this point. He’d have to get up and move somewhere else first, possibly with cleaning in there as well. But getting up felt so impossible. Miri really was inundating him with her own lazy contentment, and it was annoying (and maybe also a little nice, since the usual worry and panic was muted some).

T’ryn had yet to open his eyes, having relied solely on memory and his conversation with Syrendryth to verify what happened and who he was with. So he had no idea where they were. “I’d have to sit up to figure that out and that really sounds like a lot of work,” he confessed, though he had a bit of a dull pain in his right thigh that was either from lying awkwardly on the ground for too long or he had banged it during the Flight. He really didn’t want to think about that right then because that would lead him down the path of thinking about the fact that he’d just had sex with F’drel and he’d only ever been with N’mor when it came to men and he wasn’t sure how he felt about that. Though, the only women he’d slept with were Casa and Mulrissa and one of those lovely goldriders had been in Flights only as well and he could only recall a little glimpse here and there if he really thought about it.

And he really didn’t want to do that thinking thing right now. So much so, that he asked F’drel to describe the room to him so he still wouldn’t even have to visually identify anything himself and could continue lying there pretending he was completely comfortable as he attempted to snuggle in a bit closer to F’drel. He was fine with cuddles but T’ryn felt like he was stealing R’dal’s gig right then with how much more he wanted it.

“Sounds like the archive room—or library as some call it. It used to be full of books and scrolls but the Harpers took everything when they believed the dragonriders were never coming back. M’ris has been slowly getting things back though.” He’d only been in the room twice before the Flight made it an interesting third time. Once to help Casa map it out because he was curious about what it contained, and then he asked M’ris if he could study any records they might have on wings since he’d only been working off of what he’d watched back in Katila and his own ideas. It was nice to have a frame of reference to whether or not he was crazy or suicidal with the formations.

“What were you doing over here if you’ve never been in it before?” Even as he asked, Casa flittered through his mind. She had helped him to F’drel so it made sense she had likely shoved the greenrider into the secluded room, knowing privacy would likely be wanted. He would have to thank her for that kindness later on. Right now, however, he should probably get up before he stayed on the floor until hunger motivated him.

But warm body and cuddles…

T’ryn shook his head a little and frowned. Syrendryth was really messing with him this time. At least it wasn’t remnants of the Flightlust he was battling, just the desire to snuggle forever. He was glad his dragon was happy and he was willing to bet Halomirth was as well given how F’drel still clung to him but it still felt like he was taking advantage of the situation and T’ryn never wanted to be one of those dragonriders that pulled rank or simply took what he wanted without checking in with the greenrider first. No matter how much you keep influencing me to stay put. You can stay with her as long as you want but stop pushing that on us.

“Sorry if I was keeping you down here with me,” T’ryn apologised as he finally opened his eyes, blinking a few times to clear his vision and focus in on F’drel. He loosened his hold on the greenrider to allow ample space to break free if desired before yet again proving his friends correct with his politeness going into overdrive. “And thank you for humouring my apparent need for snuggling after a Flight.”

Archives? F’drel shifted to glance around again. It really was more empty shelves than anything. There was only one shelf that had pretty much anything on it. The Harpers had taken that much from the Weyrs and not returned it yet? Damn.

“Probably a good thing it’s not currently full of books and scrolls,” F’drel said, squinting at the one in-use shelf that by sheer luck seemed to be untouched by the Flight. Thank fuck. F’drel didn’t want to have to explain to M’ris that he’d damaged the few records he’d managed to get back from the Harpers during sex. That would be… less than fun.

“And I wasn’t over here. I was trying to get back to my weyr,” he muttered, putting his head back against T’ryn’s shoulder - he didn’t want to put his head on the floor, not unless he absolutely had to. Had nothing to do with his current Flight induced clinginess.

“You weren’t,” F’drel reassured T’ryn, trying not to feel disappointed when T’ryn adjusted to give him more space. Because he appreciated that T’ryn did it! At least the logical, eternally vigilant, paranoid part of him did. His Flight brain, which was apparently stronger just then, didn’t want to be let go of. Stupid Flight brain. “And I’m not humoring you. Miri thinks snuggling is the best thing in the world, and no matter how clingy you think you’re being, I’m even more so right now,” he admitted. F’drel didn’t add that usually he had to immediately shove the desire to cuddle as far down as possible because he wanted nothing further to do with the Flight winner. It was possible all the repressed snuggling from past Flights was all piling on him at once. Or maybe this was what he would have been like then too if he hadn’t gotten caught up in panic so quickly when he came to next to someone he didn’t know.

He sighed again, closing his eyes. “I should get up and make we didn’t break anything.” Maybe if he said it out loud it would be easier to make himself do it. It was not, and F’drel stayed exactly where he was. ’Miri, can you maybe let up for a few minutes?’ F’drel thought at her, not really expecting much. He could practically feel her pouting, and dragons couldn’t even physically pout.

I’m not doing anything, she said, though she did actively pull her awareness back a little. Maybe once you’ve checked the room you can go somewhere more comfortable and continue snuggling? Halomirth asked hopefully, pointedly including T’ryn and Syrendryth when she said it.

It was a relief to hear that Halomirth was playing with F’drel as much as Syrendryth was with him. Or it was until T’ryn realised the dragons were probably working together to do that. What were they plotting? Was it only cuddles they were after? He knew Syrendryth wanted him to meet more people and find someone to replace Casa and what he had in the past and present with her but T’ryn wasn’t sure a male greenrider was what the bronze dragon had in mind. Likely, this was just to get him to relax and branch out regardless of who it was with.

He nodded at the idea of checking the room and had been leaning toward that idea as well. But with F’drel not moving, T’ryn couldn’t either. Not that he was inclined to do so when Halomirth caught him off guard and he froze at the new voice in his head and what it implied. Boy, somewhere more comfortable sounded amazing, as did snuggling, and perhaps even napping. He was wiped out from the strenuous activities and the thought of standing was wearing him out even more but it had to be done lest they made that floor their new home and never left again thanks to the dragons’ lazy bones vibes.

“All right, let’s do this. The sooner we tidy up, the sooner we can go somewhere softer,” T’ryn chuckled lightly as he worked to free himself from F’drel. It was an effort, more because it didn’t seem like F’drel was fully on the same page yet but T’ryn was a bit more clear-minded now that Syrendryth had backed off and let him do what he wanted again. But when he sat up, he began massaging his lower back as he worked out the pain from lying that way for too long. He did look around the room in that time and verified his guess was correct and that the room didn’t look too messy. It was just going to be a scavenger hunt for their clothing, though, since he saw items scattered everywhere, which slightly amused him.

Getting slowly to his feet, T’ryn didn’t think about modesty. He was weyrbred and had spent a lot of summer days in the lake naked or bathing with others that it didn’t seem odd to him now to be nude and offering his hand to F’drel to help him up. He supposed he only had with Mulrissa the first time because she was older and it had been his first time having sex with anyone. The second Flight with her had been a lot more relaxed—thanks to Syrendryth’s assistance—and T’ryn felt he was making some progress with not living in his head so much.

“You’re welcome to come back to my weyr if you like. I have some fruit for a snack if you’re hungry and you can leave any time you want,” T’ryn understood F’drel and his need for space. He sometimes felt that himself and hated when he was pressured into socialising when he either wasn’t in the mood or had to stay long past when he was ready to go. So he felt chancing an invite to his own home was the better option than inviting himself into F’drel’s domain. This way, F’drel could leave when he was ready and not have to wonder when an imposing bronzerider would get out of his bed when the snuggling window had clearly closed.

F’drel reluctantly let T’ryn get up, trying very hard not to make a disappointed noise at the loss of human contact. As T’ryn stood up he rolled onto the slightly warmer patch of floor T’ryn had just vacated. It was a little pathetic, but the floor was cold and now there wasn’t a person against him making it even slightly tolerable. He took the offered hand with a soft ‘thanks’ and moved to start collecting his various items of clothing, setting the knocked over chair back on its feet along the way.

He froze for a moment at T’ryn’s invitation, his usual paranoia rearing its head long enough for him to feel a moment of panic about going back to a bronzerider’s weyr, and a bronzerider he’d just had sex with to boot. Halomirth swatted the thought away grumpily. That was not what she wanted, and F’drel managed to let out the breath he was holding. This was T’ryn, not… well, 99% of potential Flight winners. T’ryn was at least reasonably safe. Maybe not as safe as R’dal, but much safer than most other men he knew. If nothing else, Mylorah would kick her brother’s ass if he did anything - even if he and Mylorah weren’t getting along the same these days, F’drel remembered with a pang. Halomirth let out a gusty sigh and shoved that train of thought away too. Right.

“Thank you,” F’drel said quietly, “I think I’ll take you up on that.” Halomirth practically cheered. He continued to get dressed, pausing again to frown at his shirt. So many people had touched his shirt during the Flight, and he hated thinking about whose hands and where they might have been. Ugh. F’drel wished he didn’t have to put it back on, but it wasn’t like he had any other shirt there at the moment. His pants weren’t as bad, because only T’ryn and maybe one or two other people had touched those, which F’drel supposed was tolerable for the moment. At least his socks were probably fine? He sighed in frustration and threw the shirt on the chair for the moment while he tracked down his other sock.

T’ryn was mostly dressed, and only put his boots on but didn’t lace them back up finding that to be too big of a chore for the moment. F’drel had beat him to the overturned chair and a quick glance didn’t show anything else amiss so he focused on the clothing collection. Which was how he ended up with the missing sock and turned to see F’drel throw his shirt down before walking away from it. Was the shirt ripped? It was the first and only thing that came to his mind and made sense and T’ryn felt horrible. Of course he had ruined something! It was a Flight, and an unexpected one at that, so F’drel wouldn’t have had time to strip down before rough hands reached him.

He hadn’t put his own shirt on yet, saving it for last since all the lower body items had been found first, and made the easy decision. “F’drel, I think I found your sock and, please wear my shirt. I’ll get yours mended and washed. I’m so sorry,” T’ryn’s brows furrowed as he glanced at the discarded shirt once more before holding out his own shirt and the found sock. At least he hoped it was F’drel’s and someone else hadn’t left it behind from their own fun in the archives.

“I won’t take no for an answer on this. Please wear it and I’ll get you a clean one to wear back to your weyr in a bit.” He tried his best at the stern bronzerider voice but T’ryn knew he really needed to work on it and probably ended up looking and sounding pathetic as he waited for the items to be taken--even as he reached with his free hand to take the shirt he assumed was ripped so F’drel couldn’t insist it was fine and do everything T’ryn knew he would do in reversed positions.

Once the shirt swapping was complete and they seemed dressed enough and the room looked clean enough, T’ryn led the way back to his weyr--pretending he wasn’t shirtless and getting a few odd looks and stares the entire time-- where his boots were immediately tugged off and kicked to the side. “Welcome to my home. I mentioned fruit, and it’s in the kitchen, so please help yourself to that or anything else. I’m going to be a terrible host and crash into bed because that was an exhausting walk. You can join me there as well if you’re still craving snuggles as much as I am.” He really didn’t understand Syrendryth but if the dragon wanted him in bed with a friend to cuddle and nap, T’ryn wasn’t about to argue right now. It sounded divine.

He headed into his bedroom where he found the promised clean shirt and set it out for F’drel and put the ripped shirt aside so he could get it looked at first thing in the morning. Since he had company, clothing seemed like the best way to proceed and T’ryn left his pants on as he flopped onto the much softer than a floor bed and nestled into a pillow. He really did hope F’drel took up the offer and joined him. Whether that was the weird lingering vibes from the Flight or his own actual desire to snuggle with a friend was hard to say but T’ryn did miss having that contact and craved some more.

F’drel turned to look at T’ryn when he spoke, momentarily confused. Mended? His shirt didn’t need to be mended, just washed. T’ryn must have seen him throw his shirt on the chair and made assumptions. He started to protest, not wanting T’ryn to feel guilty about something that hadn’t actually happened. When he realized any continued attempts to let T’ryn know it was fine, the shirt didn’t need to be fixed would be ignored, F’drel closed his mouth and nodded, accepting both the sock and the shirt. He could tell it was a lost cause right then. Besides, T’ryn was offering him a perfectly good shirt to borrow and he really didn’t want to wear his own until it was cleaned.

“Thank you,” F’drel said, putting the most definitely less pawed at shirt on, then finished with socks and shoes. Before they left he gave the room another once over, straightening a few books that had probably slightly crooked even before the room was hit with a Flight, but whatever, didn’t hurt.

The walk to T’ryn’s weyr was silent, and F’drel couldn’t help but notice the looks they were getting, most of which were probably due to the fact T’ryn wasn’t wearing a shirt, though at least that meant people were paying more attention to T’ryn than to him - though he still got plenty of looks, unfortunately. F’drel couldn’t say for sure whether more of the glances were because it was weird for someone to not be wearing a shirt or if they were just checking the normally reserved bronzerider out. F’drel hoped for the former, but knew it was more likely the latter. A lack of shirt wasn’t that unusual in public spaces in a Weyr. Fucking Weyrs.

It didn’t help that probably all of them knew or could guess why T’ryn was shirtless and walking with a greenrider, and they were also going somewhere together, and most people would assume (rightly) they were going to a weyr, considering the direction they were headed, but they were probably reading things into it that were not actually there. Because again, fucking Weyrs.

When they reached the weyr F’drel followed T’ryn’s lead and took off his boots, lining them up neatly next to T’ryn’s more haphazardly removed pair, tucking his socks inside. He shook his head at the offer of food; he’d be starving soon enough, but at that moment curling up and falling asleep was highest priority. Instead he followed T’ryn into the other room. F’drel appreciatively took the clean shirt, quickly swapping the one he was wearing for it. It took him a moment to track down T’ryn’s hamper, but he did, and placed the shirt he’d taken off in it. That done, F’drel moved to join T’ryn on the bed, curling up alongside him with a sigh. It was nice and soft and so much better than the archive room.

“You don’t need to get the shirt repaired,” F’drel said softly once he’d gotten himself settled. “That’s not me protesting, it’s because the shirt isn’t torn or anything. I just…” He hesitated, not sure he should continue, but Halomirth gently urged him to finish his thought. It helped with R’dal! “There were so many people grabbing at it, and I know it sounds weird and stupid, but if I put it back on I would have felt all the hands again. I didn’t want to put it on because of that. So, thank you, for lending me yours. I just don’t want you to take it to be mended when it doesn’t need it.” There. It was a lot more than F’drel normally said, but he didn’t want T’ryn to be confused or upset when he realized the shirt was fine. He wanted to explain himself. He didn’t want T’ryn to blame himself for something that hadn’t happened. F’drel waited nervously for a response, not used to sharing such things and not sure how T’ryn would react, and he knew he wouldn’t be able to relax properly if it wasn’t explained.

T'ryn regarded F'drel for a long moment, doing his best to stay awake and comprehend what was being said. A lot of effort had been put into getting him to his bed and being as coherent as he had been but now was a struggle. He was about to compare green Flights versus gold Flights but realised that had been Syrendyth's influence last time with Mulrissa that kept him calm and a lot less muddled than the first time. This was probably still his dragon's doing now as well; keeping him almost sedated and loving the idea of a nap and hugs.

But that wasn't the topic at hand. T'ryn focused a little more on what F'drel had said and frowned when he insisted the shirt didn't need mending. To be fair, he had only assumed that was the case and hadn't checked it after swiping it.But what F'drel said did make some sense. He'd never thought about Flights in that way before, especially not as the rider of the female dragon would. So many men--most of which the rider wouldn't even want under normal circumstances--grabbing at them, touching in ways they shouldn't, making you feel like nothing more than the prize everyone always referred to them as since Flights were won and that meant a reward was given.

"It's not weird and while I'm glad I wasn't so violent that I ripped your shirt, I almost wish I had so that would be bothering you instead of the memory of too many hands on you," that still wouldn't have been the best outcome, really, but better than being reminded that you were only a piece of meat for a pack of starving animals. "I'm sorry you have to go through that. I hope Halomirth finds a mate. I hear the Flights aren't as bad since less enter, knowing she's taken." That's what he had heard anyway and seemed true with Larrikith and Ayyonth. Any other mates he was close to had male dragons and were a bit harder to study for this situation.

"I suddenly wish I had a private bath that you could use. But I only asked for a weyr that was large enough for Syrendryth and didn't care about what my side had," T'ryn suddenly realised what his intended kindness sounded like and went wide-eyed as he placed a hand on F'drel--whether to stop him from potentially fleeing or just to get some contact back was unknown. "I don't mean because I think you're dirty from their touch. But so you can feel more comfortable. But I don't mind, honest. I mean, we're in my bed and I'm close to using you as a pillow for a nap, so it's okay and you can tell me to shut up any time now." he laughed, a bit nervous that he had just insulted a friend and waited for F'drel to decide his own bed was better than that of an idiot bronzerider.

When T’ryn responded F’drel let out a breath of relief. He wasn’t upset with him. He didn’t think F’drel was weird for assigning way too much meaning to shirts. Or at least, didn’t care enough to say anything negative about it. That was... good. Except thinking about all the grabby riders of male dragons had set him on edge, and having a hand suddenly on him almost sent him into a panic, but with Miri’s help F’drel pushed it away. After the first moment of almost-panic, F’drel even relaxed into the contact.

“I mean, I am rather dirty, but even if you had a private bath I’d probably fall asleep in the water and drown or something, so that can be put off for a while,” F’drel said, curling closer to T’ryn. He was dirty and gross, and so was T’ryn, though a little less so, but a nap wouldn’t make it any worse, and for once he was too exhausted and weirdly content to care (thanks to Halomirth). It would make the sheets dirty, and F’drel doubted T’ryn would allow him to help with the laundry, but he could try.

He didn’t comment on the hope for Miri to find a mate. F’drel was conflicted on it, honestly. Because it would definitely be nice if he knew who to expect and wasn’t dreading having to try to anticipate a stranger’s reactions while essentially hungover from the Flight. But he could also be stuck with someone awful for who knew how long. Miri liked Zeianth a lot after all, which F’drel didn’t consider ideal. Not the worst option, but not his favorite. It would probably be easiest on hi, if she ended up mated with Edath, but despite being one of her favorite dragons had yet to catch her. Not that she’d Flown that many times, but still. She was far closer to Edath than she was to Syrendryth, but here they were. And ‘here’ was actually pretty comfortable, F’drel decided, shifting so he could press his face against T’ryn.

“I’m putting baths off indefinitely,” he said, realizing it may be best not to end on what amounted to saying he’d take a bath if he wouldn’t drown. “Moving feels impossible and I have a nice clean shirt now. And a very accommodating bronzerider pillow,” F’drel added sleepily, trying not to drift off just in case T’ryn was still awake enough to form a response to anything he’d said.

That wasn't the first time he'd been referred to as a pillow but considering it usually came from R'dal and he used everyone as a pillow, it was a little weird hearing it from someone else. It was nice, knowing he was apparently deemed safe enough to sleep on but still a little weird. He supposed it fit since it came from F'drel, a man T'ryn had decided right away liked his space, being alert to everything around him, and didn't seem the sort to handle surprises well. So yes, it was weird but also reassuring to know that he was seen as a safe space. That was probably how everyone viewed him. Take the bronzerider out of the forest and he becomes subdued and probably boring in the eyes of some.

"If you should wake before me, help yourself to anything," he really was boring, T'ryn thought, realising that even the papers on his desk were just about his family tree and R'nd's impossibly long list of women he'd slept with over the last twenty years. F'drel wouldn't find anything exciting or scandalous if he went snooping. "Or head out for the postponed bath or home. I won't take offence to it." T'ryn promised, especially given how sleepy he was. Flights could really take it out of you, even the shorter green Flights! T'ryn suspected that was partly Syrendryth's fault who was still radiating smugness and his own desire to not move for the rest of the day.

When a noncommittal noise was given, T'ryn took that as confirmation that F'drel heard what he said but was too tired to continue any level of conversation and fell silent as well. Honestly, it almost felt like this was the most they had ever talked since their first time meeting on the beach. They both understood that constant chatter wasn't needed and were happy to drop into silence for a while. Like now, though that was more due to the pull of sleep that soon won T'ryn over as he closed his eyes.
