"Oh, bless," Sariel murmured as young woman burst onto the Sands. She put a hand to her mouth hoping there'd be an impression. A soft wash of joy warmed her as the tiny green seemed to reach out from the dark to Impress Madiquel. She'd nurse her lovely green back to health with those Healer hands of her. She craned her neck to see the pair and let out a sigh of relief when she saw the green eat a little. But this was it. It was.
"Can't we do something? They need help!" Her voice was a cutting cry that sliced through the air like an arrow. "There's been too much death. Please let us try to save them. Thallyath? Please." She was pulled taut with need and the whole force of her being. They were only babies and their riders would make them stronger. They'd pull through, too, because of this fight.
Sariel wanted to help so badly it ached through her body and panged. She had paced herself closer to the little knot of them, now, and she rested a gentle hand on Kitt's shoulder. Would rebelling and helping to break the remaining two's shell be so bad? She knew they'd do it if they were allowed...or maybe not allowed. She shivered despite the heat. Would she not be able to stand for the next clutch if she did this?
"Are we going to do this?" she asked in a soft, lilting voice. The queen might squash them where they stood. Dead. She might slap them with her wing. Injured...possibly not dead. She could lash out with her talons. Exceptionally Dead. She could eat them. No dragon had eaten a person before, so maybe that was a non-option. Okay. She could throw them into the Stands. She calculated the distance and winced. Yeah, probably dead. Her lips pursed. "We could die in awful ways because Thallyath is not coming across as warm and fuzzy about this clutch."
