"I don't envy you," V'ler replied when Indivara finally agreed to check in with her class in the morning. Sure, Venseth could do it, and would likely still help out with the task, but it was better to have Indivara do it as well. The human side of the partnerships would appreciate it and might have questions about the whole situation and Venseth likely wouldn't want to answer them over and over or reach out to the whole class. Veeth would happily talk to everyone that glanced his way and flirt with the female riders while he was at it, which was why they would be far away at the time.
With some effort--the water was hot and he was comfortable--V'ler made his way out of the pool to begin towelling off. "I should go read the letter for myself and make the appropriate amendments in my records. Then perhaps an early night so I can get an early start at the Hall tomorrow." Knowing his tendency to get absorbed in his work, he expected someone would have to kick him out at nightfall when they closed up and sent everyone to their rooms and it likely still wouldn't be enough time to go through centuries of records kept by six Weyrs.
The towel was wrapped around his waist and V'ler dared to step close to the edge again so he could lean down and kiss Indivara's forehead. "Take your time. You'll need to be as relaxed as possible to deal with your class tomorrow. I'll still be up when you get in." Just because he said it'd be an early night didn't mean he was headed directly to bed. Anything before sunrise was technically an early night in his definition, though he did plan to be asleep well before then.
