For a moment, Nerreh was utterly pleased when Casa confirmed she would be invited to any future camping trips. It all crashed down a moment later when Casa added that the last one had needed more women. Right. Casa and everyone didn’t want Nerreh specifically, they just wanted another vagina around. Suddenly Nerreh thought maybe she didn’t want to go all that much at all. Not if everyone was going to treat her like ‘another girl.’ Nope, no thanks, Nerreh would rather not. Better to stay home and not get laid. An uncomfortable weight had settled in her stomach and Nerreh shoved the whole matter to the back of her mind. Things might change by the time Casa planned camping again. Or not. Didn’t matter just then.
It was a lot easier to think of potentially acceptable chaperones. “My grandfather would probably be acceptable, then. Middle aged brownrider, and he’s pretty fun as older people go. And since the goal is just camping shenanigans, not awkward to have him there.” Nerreh had gotten pretty lucky when it came to family. A lot of dragonrider dads had nothing to do with their spawn — her own didn’t, she’d never spoken to the man and had no real plans to. But her mom’s dad was weird, and knew who all his kids were — and his kids’ kids, and as of recent turns his kids’ kids’ kids. So Nerreh had something of a father figure growing up, in addition to her mother, which a lot of ‘brats couldn’t say. And she still liked him, more importantly, and would willingly invite him to chaperone a camping trip of young people. There shouldn’t be a reason M’ris would say no to him as a babysitter. Nerreh would have to suggest the idea to N’bel next time he visited.
“Thanks for the idea, Casa,” Nerreh smiled.
