Tal's revelry at their little tickle fight was almost cut short when he saw the expression of surprised betrayal on B'jin's face. What..? Did I upset him? Tal wondered, but before he had time to worry too much, his quarry was trying to escape!
The tickle match ended a minute or so later with both men flopping down lazily in the grass. Tal hugged B'jin back and smiled, though his mind drifted back to the sad expression in B'jin's eyes earlier. "Did I upset you just now?" Tal inquired. He knew he'd called B'jin 'horrible' out of play, but had B'jin taken it too seriously? B'jin did seem awfully consumed with guilt when it came to Tal. Feeling guilty himself, the healer sat up and set his hands on the man's shoulder.
"Lay on your stomach," Tal instructed. B'jin had enjoyed his last back rub so much, Tal saw fit to give him another one. He scooted around behind B'jin and dug his fingers into the man's flesh before he even moved. Tal immediately noticed how tense the muscles were.
Tal frowned. "Your back is rock hard," he said with concern. His medical side immediately leapt to all sorts of causes and remedies, but Tal tried to wade through the haze and focus on the emotional side of things. "Have you been stressed lately?" Tal was one to talk about stress. He'd been stressed himself, but he hadn't even stopped to think that B'jin might be as well. B'jin always seemed so happy.
Maybe B'jin put up fronts for Tal just as often as Tal put up fronts for B'jin.
This is so messed up Tal thought with a hint of sadness as he worked his fingers over the dragonrider's back.
