Oh, it was Larrikith. Talian didn't bother to shiver at her voice this time, though as usual he wondered why she bothered. She seemed to hate him an awful lot, especially judging by their earlier encounters. Was this a punishment for touching her? The comment itself wasn't bad, at least. It was a far cry from the vicious insults he'd come to expect from her during the early part of his stay. It didn't grate on him like it once had. So, he decided to accept it without complaint, though a mild frown did cross his lips for a few moments as he considered the motive behind it. It was over soon enough.
Tal could see the flickering tranquility in his adoptive parent. The healer often wished he could be that way, finding the cheerful points of light in the darkness. He'd never been able to master it, though. Optimism seemed like a fool's game. Realistic people realized how awful the world was and made up excuses to be happy to keep themselves from going mad.
Talian wished he was an idiot. Idiots were so much happier.
He sighed, smiling in mild endearment nonetheless. He envied B'jin's easygoing ways, but was also able to take comfort in them. "They look like clouds to me," he said in a rare display a sarcasm, a spike of playfulness that showed how his mood had improved. He liked the solitude out here. So quiet and far away from his problems.
He paused and spent a few moments thinking. He wished he had something interesting to talk about. "I don't have anything interesting to talk about," he observed without thinking. He raised a brow at himself. He scanned the clouds, trying to find something in them. He was terrible at this game.
"That one is...a...tansy flower?"
Whoops. Bad observation. Talian was so embarrassed that he rolled over and faced the other way, arms and legs curling into an embarrassed fetal position. "I mean, a plant that helps heart palpitations." Which was exactly what Tansy was used for in proper dosages.
