Talian had enjoyed B'jin's free pass as much as the greenrider had himself. It meant the healer got to see his father figure more often, and in the uncomfortable isolation following attempted suicide and the Impression of his friends, more company kept the boy sane. He was perfectly content to work with B'jin at his side, whether the greenrider followed closely or watched quietly form the corner, and B'jin's antics were just the thing to bring a smile to Tal's face.
Today would be no different, at least in theory. When B'jin arrived, Talian was slumped over his desk and staring quite hard as a medical file. The papers didn't include the patient's name, but the lengthy list of symptoms and frantic writing all over the margins identified it as an emergency case. It was an illness, and while Tal's specialty was in trauma, the Hall was trying everything they could with this one.
Tal finished off the last of three large mugs of klah on his desk and looked up to greet B'jin. "Hello," the healer said, muted and distracted, though apparently happy for said distraction. He'd been wracking his brain over the case all morning. He'd woken up on what was supposed to be a day off for it! Hours later and he still had nothing to show; how bizzare!
Talian knew that expression. He started to open his mouth and protest, but B'jin's playful eyes and hopeful expression couldn't be argued with. The healer closed his mouth and looked down bashfully. "I do now, don't I?" he asked, not exactly with reservations, just...cautious. B'jin was wonderful, buty also infuriatingly unpredictable. Tal didn't like unpredictable.
He smiled, an adorable attempt not to look suddenly terrified, and flipped the folder closed. "What do you have in mind?" he asked..hopefully? Nervously? Both? Definitely both.
