T'ryn smiled as F'drel gave out his own name and chuckled at the explanation. He wondered, not for the first time, how dragons came up with the honorifics. Did they just decide they wanted a new and shorter name? Was it something that added to their bond? Someone told him dragons are smarter than humans and their brains work too fast and they slur long names into short ones. He wasn't too sure about that theory thanks to some of the dragons he knew but it made about as much sense as anything else people came up with.
"She's not alone in that habit. I don't know if you met the twins but no one could tell them apart and just called them Vian. When Nyvian Impressed, his dragon only dropped the 'y' making him N'vian." T'ryn was young when that happened and he remembered both being absolutely heartbroken for Ryvian, left alone on the Sands while his brother pranced off with a dragon. But he was also amused that even the bronze was in on the joke and kept the Vian name alive. "When Ryvian finally Impressed, his dragon tossed a few more letters aside to make him R'vi. Dragons are weird. ...and a handful."
T'ryn glanced back out and saw that Syrendryth must have decided the green wasn't too terrible as he showed off by diving down to catch fish. Usually he only did such things in front of golds as they watched him hunt so it was odd to see him playing nicely with a green dragon and T'ryn smiled, glad they were both making friends. Well, he hoped he was making one, and not just so he could tell Mylorah that he had. F'drel seemed a decent sort of guy so far and T'ryn liked the mellow attitude.
