The next sign of a new dragonet came in the form of a blue foot sticking out the side of an egg in the center of the Clutch. The foot wiggled around, but the dragonet inside seemed unable to break out just yet. Instead, another egg nearby broke open first, revealing theVirtue blue , who curiously went up to sniff at the foot sticking from his neighbor egg. A muffled squeak came from inside the egg and Virtue perked up at the nose, excitedly nosing his brother’s egg. In his excitement, Virtue knocked the egg over, which provided the necessary assistance to allow Frailty to break the rest of the way out of his egg. He gave his helpful brother an affectionate nuzzle before they parted ways, headed to different ends of the Sands before both Impressed weyrborn boys. Mulrissa smiled at the interaction, hoping the two might remain friends as they grew up.

The next dragonet to hatch practically oozed out of the egg, lying for a moment in the sand before theSleep green decided she was ready to get up, stretching languidly with an enormous yawn as she stumbled off to crash into a young man nearby, purring as she pressed into his legs.
Two eggs right next to each other start cracking more heavily, and it wasn’t long before the shells split, andMystery and Brevity fall out of their eggs. Brevity shook herself off, and a large chunk of eggshell dislodged from her forehead before Brevity was tumbling over, surprising herself with the force of her own shaking. Eyes wide as she scrambled to her feet, Brevity looked around her, before she froze when she saw Mystery in front of her, the shaken off piece of Brevity’s shell sticking to Mystery’s nose.
Mystery did not at all like this turn of events, and with an angry screech launched herself at her sister, bowling the other green over as she loudly berated her with more screeches. The two greens stayed locked together, claws out, for a few long moments and Mulrissa gasped in concern, not wanting either green to hurt the other, before Brevity managed to escape with a shriek, bolting away from her sister as fast as her untested legs would take her. She fled towards the gold egg, rounding it as the girls waiting for the gold to hatch tried to get out of her way, some of them stumbling in the sand.
Mystery barreled after her, intent on continuing to show Brevity how poor of a decision she had made in getting eggshell on Mystery’s face, when she stopped in her tracks. She coo'ed quietly, tilting her head as she inspects some of the girls, before finally singling one out and approaching her. Brevity , already a number of lengths away, looks back, shocked at her good fortune as Mystery was distracted, and dramatically flopped to the ground, already tired from the effort of breaking through her egg and fleeing from Mystery . She held a wing out, showing the boy next to her a scratch on her wing, chirping piteously, and he promised he’d take care of it for her right away.
’Well, look at that,’ Rissa thought to Bedith, watching the girl who had Impressed a fighting dragon, ’You have a bit of a rebel for a daughter.’ Bedith snorted at her. She picked the one who was right for her. Nothing unusual about that/ Mulrissa raised an eyebrow and glanced up at her dragon. ’And here I had you pegged as a traditionalist, Bedith.’ The gold tossed her great head, watching the two greens heading over to the side for food and a bath,Brevity carefully avoiding her more aggressive sister. I am full of surprises, she huffed.

When another egg broke open, it revealed a hunched up little green.Method seethed quietly for a moment, though what the just hatched dragonet could possibly be angry about was beyond Rissa. Movements stiff with barely controlled emotion, Method stalked across the Sands, slashing crossly at a Candidate she felt was too close to her. Suddenly afraid of the moody green, the young man backed off, cradling his bleeding arm against his chest. One of the Healer’s headed over to him, as Method haughtily sat down next to a Candidate nearby.
In the commotion,Silence had hatched. The little green watched the Healer inspect the hurt Candidate’s arm, head tilting from side to side. She approached to sniff at the Healer, who she felt smelled funny, before dismissing the pair with a flick of her tail and trotting past them to Impress. Mulrissa sighed in relief; from what she could see from this distance, the wound didn’t seem too dangerous, and the Candidate who’d been clawed seemed like he was determined to keep Standing. The Healer argued with him a moment before shaking his head and returning to the sidelines. Rissa couldn’t help but chuckle a little at his frustration. Very little kept the Candidates from trying to Impress.
