Daelyne stood waiting. And waiting. And waiting for the eggs to finally crack shell. She was checking the dirt under her fingernails and flicking some away when a stillness entered the air. Flinging her braid back, she watched a green break away first. For the best, no matter what the superstitions said, greens were by far better than anything else. The only thing the truly lacked was stamina because of their size. They were faster, quicker and in her opinion more clever even than a gold. A much better color. A bronze followed so closely behind the green, Dae couldn't actually tell if the green had come first but who care really? Only the stuffy old shits in the stands.
Willing the little green her way did no good as Daelyne watched her make her impression. Ah well. Better luck next time. The bronze found his boy and four more greens and a blue made their appearances. All made good impressions much to her chagrin. It would make the stuffed shirts happy to know these particular greens and blues were more proper in their life mates. She fought not to roll her eyes at the thought. She was still a mind that there was nothing wrong with a girl impressing a green. Not all of them were the prissy, hissy bitches gold riders were. She did have to admit that there were a few, Ameris and Casa being two, that broke the mold for the girl when it came to goldriders.
She sighed and turned back to watch the rest of the hatching. Maybe she could sidle on over closer to Tala. Give her something to do besides stand around for another two hours. Sticking a finger inside her braid, Dae scratched at the sweat that was beginning to form along her hairline. She should have cut her hair for this event. A nice soft crop or something. She shooed Pixie away when the green flipped out of between. "Go on now," she hissed quietly, "watch from the stands silly git." The green chittered and spun away, the girl shaking her head as she watched. The firelizard was a moron but Daelyne loved her anyway.
