Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Madiquel was torn between extreme guilt about leaving her Papa for the day while she went galivanting off to see dragons hatch and friends Impress, and ridiculous giddy excitement! Granted, the last Hatching she’d attended had been a disaster, and when no invitation had been forthcoming to attend those that followed, Madiquel had been relieved. As terrible as it was, she was also relieved when she didn’t hear of any of her friends Impressing at those clutches, either. She really wanted them to get the dragons they desired, of course, but she wanted to be there to witness it!
Dressed in a gorgeous shin-length dress that her Papa had had commissioned for her when she told him Rhaedalyn invited her to go to the Hatching with her, Madiquel finally understood why the skirts had legs instead of being an actual skirt, and she delighted in the way it allowed her to mount Xyreith between the Weyrleaders that had essentially adopted her; not that she didn’t still live with and coddle her father as much as he did her, but pretty much the entirety of the rest of her time was spent with the family she’d melded into. She giggled and chatted with Rhaedalyn about the wonders of split skirts until R’nya warned them that they were about to take off, and then warned them just prior to the jump between.
Madiquel always held her breath in the darkness, and exhaled in relief when they reappeared, floating down through the Telgar sky towards the Weyr. When the big bronze landed, and R’nya had helped Rhaedalyn and Madiquel down, the girl thanked him like she always did, but surprised both of them by darting forward and giving him a quick hug before dashing off towards the Hatching Sands, waving animatedly when she spotted a familiar face. “Quin!” She called, dancing excitedly on the edge of the Sands while Rhaedalyn caught up with her. “Quin! Good luck!” She waved excitedly and bounced a couple more times, before dashing off after Rhaedalyn as the Weyrwoman lead the way towards their seats.
As Rhaedalyn pointed out people, Madiquel giggled as she looked towards T’ryn, hiding the soft sound behind a hand. She was doing her best to completely ignore the memory of events of the Hatching at Ista, and honestly, Madiquel had never followed gossip or dragon bloodlines enough to know that the Sire of this clutch was a clutchmate of the last one’s Sire. Besides, the last two Hatchings hadn’t been anything overly exciting, she had been told, so why would this one be any different? The disastrous one was most likely a fluke. An unfortunate, horrible, awful fluke.
Clover flittered out of between then, and squeaked a cheerful greeting to her bonded and Rhaedalyn, before handing over the note she had from A’tay. Madiquel took it eagerly, and grinned brightly at the demand for a play-by-play of the Hatching, since her bronzeriding best friend obviously couldn’t attend. Setting the note into the little bag she’d brought, Madiquel pulled out a small stack of letter paper, and a charcoal stick. She preferred to write with ink, but it just wasn’t as functional to take on trips. She quickly scribbled a quick note, letting A’tay know they were seated and she’d send Clover with another note as soon as the first babies finished Hatching!
She also scribbled a picture of T’ryn chewing on his fingers, emphasised and comical in its unrealistic proportions and dramatizations of his emotions. Madiquel wasn’t good at doing realistic drawings, but she’d developed quite the skill at drawing comical pictures and she giggled as she finished it, showing it to Rhaedalyn with a teasing expression on her face before she sent it off with Clover to T’ryn’s brother.
