The invitation to visit Azrin at Ista had surprised Xyliah, mostly because while she liked Jalazmar’s brothers, she consistently forgot there was anyone outside the small collection of people living in her own little household. Being a Lady was hard work, which was why she dished most of it off on Yanzi and Kelikki to do. Granted, she did all the ‘important’ things, and made sure the work the two women was as required. But she gave them a lot of loose lead to move around with, and honestly, so long as neither of them screwed her or Jalazmar over by doing things they shouldn’t, Xyliah saw no reason to be tight fisted.
As such, when Yanzi said she would take care of settling their items into the rooms Azrin had arranged for them, and that she should go to the Weyr with her husband, Xyliah had no qualms about doing just that. The fact that she was completely oblivious to the naughty smile and quick wink Yanzi tossed to Azrin probably helped quite a bit. While Xyliah wouldn’t have been at all surprised by her maid bedding someone at the Hold, she probably wouldn’t have reacted well to the brazen indication that the woman was bedding her brother-in-law!
Not long after, and Xyliah had her arm wrapped lightly around M’ris’ as the Weyrleader took her on a tour of his Weyr. She didn’t stay like that for long, though, because everything was so exciting and new for the young woman who had definitely not been out of her home hold nearly enough to be sedate and composed when visiting a Weyr that was wonderfully filled with dragons. And firelizards! Xyliah squealed when one popped into appearance to give a note to M’ris, and was delighted when the little gold realised she was the centre of attention and landed on Xyliah’s arm for a few moments to be gushed over before going on her way.
Xyliah’s response to the firelizard had changed M’ris’ plans, apparently, because suddenly he was leading her in an entirely different direction and before she knew it, Xyliah found herself on the edge of what looked like a lesson. There were young men all sitting around with notebooks and backpacks while off to one side somewhat, several small dragons were sleeping or frolicking together. Xyliah gasped into her hands, and bounced on the spot in delighted excitement as M’ris lead her over to the group and introduced her to a couple that were nearby. Xyliah paid enough attention to wave brightly at the youngsters, but her gaze was clearly primarily demanded by the dragonets not far away.
“They’re so beautiful!” She gushed, not even realising that M’ris had left her as she stood by the three young men who appeared to be deciding how to handle having her thrown into their midst. “Can I meet them?” She asked, turning her beseeching gaze down on the riders-to-be, her hands clasped together before her as she bounced slightly on her toes, definitely not the image of a self-important Lady and every inch an excited teenager.
