Misharan may have pouted a bit when he learned he was to be in the first group to Touch the eggs. Which was kind of cool, really, being maybe the first person to touch some of the eggs, but it meant he had to be awake early. Why did all the Hatching things have to be so early? It was so terribly inconvenient when mornings were your nemesis.
At least the Sands were warm. Almost too warm, like always, but it was worse when you had to get out of your nice warm bed to go be somewhere cold. Of course, the warmth also kept him sleepy instead of forcing him to stay awake, so that wasn’t exactly a plus. Ugh.
When the Candidates were given the go ahead, Misha closed his eyes, took a deep breath, shook his head a little, and opened his eyes back up, walking to the egg closest to the center of his field of vision. He squatted down next to the egg and smiled at it, not concerned about the fact the dragonet, encased in the shell as it was, had no chance of seeing the smile.
“Hello there,” he said, cheerful despite the sleep still suffusing his voice, “I’m Misharan, nice to meet you.” And he reached forward to gently press his hand against the shell.
Heartache egg
