Jalazmar grinned and was doing his best not to start laughing thanks to the idea that he could blame M'ris for failing to tell the man why he was summoned. That likely wouldn't put him in favour with Weyrleader or greenrider if they found out he said such a thing after asking for the reason to be skipped in the summons. All of the effort he was about to exert to get the man before him to relax would be for naught!
"I'm afraid the Weyrleader is showing my wife around the Weyr right now and this was a ploy to get you here so we can talk." The blunt truth seemed like the best approach although he still wondered if there really would be a best approach in such situations. F'drel had been a drudge and was now a greenrider, which he heard meant he was ranked lowest and was probably harassed by the other dragonriders.
When another knock at the door came, Jalazmar called for them to enter and decided as he watched the girl set the jug and cups down on the table that she must have been waiting in hiding for F'drel to arrive. He hadn't quite meant it literally for her to arrive after the greenrider had, but it worked all the same and he dismissed the girl before turning back to the drinks.
"I hope we can speak openly in this meeting, F'drel," Jalazmar continued as he poured the juice into each cup then passed one to F'drel. "To be frank, you often seem nervous while visiting my home despite having an open invitation to visit whenever you want. I know your siblings look forward to your arrival." Grabbing his own drink, Jalazmar returned to the chair he had occupied before and waved F'drel to sit in the other. Growing up in the family he had, Jalazmar knew to still be a bit worried about someone serving drinks and offering such pleasantries. A brother could be trying to poison him or some nefarious plot or blackmail was about to take place. Still, he hoped F'drel would trust him enough, there in the Weyrleader's office, to know he wouldn't be drugged or harmed.
"I want to know why and if there's something I can do to help change it."
