T’bia walked slowly up the hall, his fingers twining together anxiously as he went. He hadn’t seen M’dox in ages and he was wrapped up enough in his insecurities to believe the brownrider had been avoiding him. Which wasn’t fair, really, because T’bia was sure M’dox had been just as busy with the firefighting as he had been… But that had been a while ago, right? And T’bia hadn’t seen his friend in any of that time! Didn’t he like him anymore?
It was Jycenth who brought it all to a head by telling T’bia that if he didn’t go and visit the brownrider, he wasn’t going to let T’bia bathe or oil him, and then he’d get dirty and itchy and wouldn’t that be terrible? Jycenth felt really nasty using his wellbeing as a threat against his beloved bonded, but it got the young man scurrying out of his weyr, and well, Jycenth knew M’dox missed T’bia as much as T’bia missed M’dox. Dragons spoke, after all.
When he reached M’dox’s door, T’bia paused again, frowning at the wood with a deeply worried expression. It had suddenly occurred to him that maybe M’dox had been injured during the fires! He hadn’t heard anything – surely Jycenth at least would have told him?! – but T’bia didn’t have many friends, and those he did have had been pretty wrapped up with their own close ties during the fires… Biting his bottom lip, T’bia shuffled forward anxiously and tapped on the door. After a pause and a worried glance down the hall, he knocked a bit louder.
“M’dox?” he called softly, voice filled with so many hesitant questions.
