Tala laughed at Daelyne’s wink, charmed by the theatrics the other girl put into drinking. The little hiss at the taste amused her — the stuff wasn’t that bad! Or maybe Tala just had no taste. How would she know? She briefly considered bringing the other bottle of wine she had over to the drink tent Casa indicated, but decided against it. Moving the wine would mean she’d have to get up to move it and then wouldn’t have an extra drink within easy reach, so if she wanted more she’d have to go to the tent again. Much easier to just hold onto it.
“A swim sounds nice,” she admitted, thinking of the way her loose shirt was sticking to her shoulders. Ugh. And, you know, naked women. And probably men, too. Sounded like a good time to Tala. She was so thankful she’d been born amongst weyrfolk, it was so much easier to do simple things like swimming without feeling embarrassed, and you got a nice view as well!
“Shouldn’t be too much longer for the sun to get a bit lower. Then we can drink and swim ‘cause it’s fun and not because we’re dying in this heat.” Tala tilted her head to consider Daelyne a moment. “Lots of other fun things we can do out here once it’s not so hot we’d melt if we moved more than to take a drink every few minutes.” Not that Tala minded the heat right then too much, but teasing was fun. To emphasize her point, Tala pulled at the low collar of her shirt, fanning herself with it a moment before letting the fabric fall back against her skin, making sure the hemline rested suggestively lower on her chest.
