Jalazmar grinned brightly at Xyliah when she laughingly called Sunshine a traitor as the cat settled his bulk on his chest. He lazily began stroking the feline with the arm furthest from Xyliah and smiled when she shifted and settled in beside him a moment later like he assumed she would. His eyes slid shut in contentment as he snuggled with his two favourite pussies – a comment he had made to Xyliah not too long ago the last time they were like this which earned a laugh out of her. While he suspected she needed a laugh right then, he didn’t want to chance getting one of her flat looks or a smack to the arm. She was stronger than she looked!
He was still a bit worried about her lack of appetite but wasn’t going to push it. He’d just have the cook put something aside that could be eaten cold later on if Xyliah changed her mind. But when she finally said what was on her mind, Jalazmar lost his appetite as well. “Are you sure?” It was a rather dumb question, of course a woman would know the signs for pregnancy and they did have a rather active sex life. They didn’t even slow down when he should have been in mourning for his father but he blamed that on being newlyweds and unable to get enough of each other after that first tasty night.
Xyliah might be pregnant. Of course that was to be expected and he knew if his father was still alive he’d have put a timeline down on when they should have a child in order to keep from being disowned or some other new threat. The only problem was, he wasn’t sure he wanted to be a father. He didn’t mind playing uncle and had a lot of experience with that, but to raise a brat of his own? That seemed like more work and also would make sex with the tight body curled up against him a bit trickier. They’d have to hire a nanny or two to keep watch of the tyke. But he was overlooking the bigger issue with her statement.
“Are you happy about that?” He asked it cautiously, not wanting to anger her, especially if she was pregnant and her hormones were already running rampant. He had heard about some women’s temperament and hoped Xyliah stayed her usual self without drastic mood swings. “Answer honestly, Liah. I’m pretty neutral on the subject with knowing what’s expected and what I’m ready for.” He lightly rubbed her back, trying to offer silent comfort and support. They were in everything together now so he’d support her either way. If she was happy, then he would be. If she wasn’t, then maybe he’d talk to his cousin J’ver or one of his brothers about how to end the pregnancy and if they could avoid it until ready.
