Xyliah had found that settling into married life wasn’t as uprooting as she had thought it would be; she and Jalazmar meshed as well out of the sack as they did in it, and she’d found him to be a good companion to both live with, and spend time with casually. She enjoyed their talks and found him to be charming and intelligent and the more she got to know him, the more convinced Xyliah was that she could – and probably would – fall in love with him someday. That day wasn’t there yet, but Xyliah wasn’t concerned. They’d been married for just a little less than ten weeks, and known each other for only a few days longer.
Unfortunately, learning how to run a household had not gone so smoothly. Xyliah, while knowing the fundamentals for the task, had no idea how to actually do it. She’d struggled, particularly in the first month. Once she’d figured out her own strengths, and that of her staff, she’d utilised the skills of Yanzi and Kelikki primarily, and things had been fairly smooth sailing since then. She knew Jalazmar had been just as flustered by his side of things, and they’d spent a fair amount of the first week or two ranting and raving when they weren’t screwing. Xyliah smiled slightly to herself in amusement, though the expression faded away as she frowned down at the large cat on her lap.
Sunshine was sprawled across her legs, with her leaning against the headboard of the bed. The large orange tom cat was purring loudly, and Xyliah petted him quietly, enjoying the warm comfort of her furry companion. She was interrupted from her musing by the sound of Jalazmar entering the bedroom, and she looked up, offering a small but warm smile to her husband. “Hey,” she said softly, wondering if he’d eaten yet or if they should rouse the kitchen staff. No doubt the women there had prepared something, though Xyliah hadn’t made any move to get food as yet. Really, though, she wanted to talk to him (and no doubt the quiet look of contemplation on her face betrayed as much) but she had no idea how to broach the subject.
Honestly, she wasn’t ready to face the reality of it!
