The comment about what Jycenth said confused M’dox for a moment. What did that have to do with anything, he wondered, eyebrows furrowing. He made a noise of protest when T’bia stepped away; even if he needed to do his laundry and was going to have to let go of T’bia at some point, he still didn’t want T’bia leaving his arms. He was nice and comfy there.
“I don’t think you do,” M’dox said honestly, thinking on what T’bia reported Jycenth thought. He figured he’d know, since he’d just had his face shoved right against T’bia for a bit. And he didn’t think T’bia smelled bad at all. If anything, he smelled nice. Or, well, M’dox thought he smelled nice. He was T’bia-scented, whatever that smelled like. Probably whatever soap he used was in there? M’dox didn’t really have a way of knowing, but he’d like to find out, since it meant getting to be close to T’bia a lot.
He was going to repeat that he thought T’bia smelled fine, hoping he’d be able to keep himself from revealing that he thought T’bia smelled nice (that was weird, right?) but the offer that tumbled from T’bia’s mouth had M’dox’s thoughts slamming to a halt. M’dox stared blankly at T’bia for a good moment, trying to process. Though, if the way T’bia immediately hid his face meant anything, it probably wasn’t what he meant to say. Or how he meant to say it. Or something. But what was he supposed to say? Did T’bia mean it or didn’t he? M’dox couldn’t tell.
Even after turns in the Weyr M’dox was still awkward about public baths. He still went out of his way to find small, out of the way ones to ensure he’d be alone. It was just something he was still uncomfortable about, for whatever reason. And sharing a bath with another person, specifically sharing, not just using the same bathing room at the same time, was a lot. Especially someone M’dox liked and wanted to kiss. The image of kissing T’bia in a bath started forming in his mind, and M’dox quickly shut it down before it could go any further but he was already blushing just as red as T’bia. Oh, Faranth he was not prepared for this just yet.
But T’bia looked uncomfortable, and M’dox didn’t want T’bia to feel bad about anything he said. He hadn’t said anything wrong! M’dox reached out to place a hand on one of T’bia’s shoulders, gently rubbing his thumb back and forth in what he hoped was a soothing manner. “How about we do our laundry, and you take your bath, though I don’t think you have any smell to get rid of, and I can get us food or something? And then we can meet up in my weyr. We can put the bath offer aside for today, maybe revisit it later?” he said, flushing again at the last bit. The idea of sharing a bath with T’bia was nice but far too much for him to handle just yet, but M’dox didn’t want T’bia to feel like he was being rejected, even if he hadn’t meant to make the offer in the first place. He didn’t want to make T’bia feel bad! “That work?” M’dox asked, hand still on T’bia’s shoulder and looking earnestly at the bluerider.
