Xyxyth tilted his head as he looked at Madiquel, trying to figure out what she meant by hatching in the wrong Weyr. If he hatched somewhere else, then he wouldn't have found A'tay so he was right where he was supposed to be, wasn't he?
Sensing his dragon's confusion -- which was an odd sensation since he wasn't the one that was confused but still felt tendrils of the emotion swirlling around his head -- A'tay took a moment to go over their conversation and figured out what would have been the cause and frowned a bit at the reminder but turned it back into a smile as he patted Xyxyth's head with an oily hand. "Madiquel lives in Fort Weyr and we'll be here in Ista Weyr until we graduate in fifteen months. So she's sad she won't see us that much."
He brightened at the thought of her coming to visit when he reached new stages in lessons, like flying. He was going to fly on his own dragon one day! A'tay's smile turned a bit brighter and wider as he was suddenly genuinely excited and overwhelmed at the idea. Maidquel definitely had to see that! And if it all went well and they had permission for little flights around the Weyr, he could go flying with her as well! He couldn't wait and while his dragon was barely out of his shell, he wondered when they would get to that point. He supposed he'd have to wait until Xyxyth was large enough to carry him. He did know from T'ryn's stories that they would have lessons in a few months that had him riding Xyxyth like a horse to practice moving together or something.
Xyxyth sensed A'tay's excitement and would ask about it later but he was still focused on Madiquel and the different Weyrs. Why don't you move here? Then we will see you more and everyone will be happy. He thought that was perfectly logical and didn't see what the problem was.
Xyxyth watched the happy green dance a bit more as he thought about everything he was learning about his bonded and his friend and shook his head when Madiquel asked if he wanted to dance. Perhaps later. Although I understand her desire to dance. The oil is very nice on my itchy spots that it could inspire dancing. Truthfully, he was getting a bit tired and didn't have the energy to dance. After a nap, though, he'd consider it. He heard a few weyrlings talking about a party in their honour later and that sounded like it could be fun.
"He really is," A'tay replied as he also admired Xyxyth's hide and how it shone with the oil on it. He loved the light pattern and hoped he kept it when he grew. Some dragons didn't have a shockingly different adult hide so maybe he'd get lucky as well. Syrendryth was a bit of a bright bronze, almost orange, colour when he hatched but matured into a colour that was more in line with Xyxyth's current colouring. Hopefully that didn't mean the opposite would happen!
