Madiquel giggled softly when Clover swooped down from the rafters, following after Shadow as she swirled around in the air before landing lightly on Madiquel’s shoulder. She chirped a cheerful and friendly greeting to the newly hatched bronze dragon and nuzzled against Madiquel’s cheek with her face. Madiquel petted her gently as Ayontay seemed to take in what she’d said a moment ago. She smiled gently when he asked the little bronze his opinion, looking down at her lap shyly. She really hoped the young dragon found her a worthy friend of Ayontay! She couldn’t imagine what she’d do if his dragon hated her and didn’t want her to be around him!
Wide eyes looked up when Xyxyth spoke again, and Madiquel blushed hotly, pleased, and beamed at both Weyrlings. “Thank you!” Madiquel said, delighted, and she shuffled around to be closer to Ayontay, not letting his hand go until the last moment when he reached out to grab a water bucket. Peering across him, she noticed there was only one sponge in the bucket and pouted for a moment, wondering where she’d get another one from. She was just looking up and around when she spotted the Weyrlingmaster approaching them. Madiquel shrank back a little, almost hiding behind Ayontay, when the man held a sponge out towards her. She flushed again, realising he (or his dragon) had heard what Xyxyth had said. She mumbled thanks and took the sponge.
Placing one hand gently on Ayontay’s knee, Madiquel leaned across him to dip the sponge in the water and give it a half squeeze, before sloshing the water across Xyxyth’s hide, smiling happily to herself as she cleaned the drying egg-gunk off him. “You are beautiful,” she told Xyxyth happily, taking her hand off Ayontay’s knee to trace a line of colour along the hatchling’s hind leg through the water that was on it. She tilted her head slightly and gave Ayontay a playful smirk. “You better not hurt your hand too often,” she teased, wagging her finger in his face. “Especially when he’s finished growing and is like thiiis big!” she exclaimed, throwing her arms wide and beaming.
