2023/08/04 Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Thistle!

She wasn’t new to this, neither of them were anymore. It was seven turns since she had Impressed Okalinath and while Kahleena had no regrets, she didn’t always enjoy some of the circumstances of what it meant to be a goldrider.

The main one being the effects of flightlust on her normally restrained and demure character, which encouraged the bouts of guilt and shame that could leave her confused and frustrated as she struggled to cope with the sense that she had behaved inappropriately. Kahleena understood now that she didn’t need to be so concerned, that no one would mind or judge her negatively.

However, the knowledge of that being the case wasn’t likely to change her own mood as she felt that awareness of her dragon and the knowledge of what would come afterward. Kahleena had suspected for a while that Okalinath was a keen matchmaker and it was one of the reasons that she was often surprised - and a little delighted - with who won the flights but her gold was never willing to share when it came to her plans, or even if she had any in the first place You’re being far too serious about this; it’s not supposed to be that the warm, friendly and soothing tones of the dragon were deepened becoming far more sensual as Kahleena leaned over the edge of her Weyr looking down at Okalinath, already gently a-glow and stretching up as she looked up, her eyes changing color as they began to softly whir with increasing emotional excitement.

//I’m not. // she attempted to insist but Kahleena was fairly sure it was a protest made in vain and therefore unlikely to be successful.

Okalinath didn’t speak again, the warm desire that was awakening in her own limbs shared with her rider as she took to the sky, heading for the herdbeats //Blood. Remember, dear one… just the blood...// she always reminded her and Okalinath carefree and far more playful than her rider always rumbled her protest before finally accepting that it had to be that way //That’s it// she reassured and watched as Okalinath trumpeted the challenge to the rest of the weyr, announcing that not only was she ready but that she dared them all to prove who was the most capable to give chase and finally emerge a the victor.

He meandered his way towards the place Vessaelia called home. A small conversation had managed to turn itself into a full blown infatuation for the young bronzerider and he'd finagled himself a picnic with the pretty redheaded girl. It had been done to the utter amusement of Obaranth, the bronze that his rider did not do such things and the action was wholly out of character for A'dis. Obaranth went with the idea because he knew A'dis needed to do something besides brood about his father, he might have pushed a little otherwise A'dis just might have talked himself out of the distraction.

He was very nearly there, hand raised to knock on the door when an emotion so powerful it almost knocked him from his feet swept through him. Fuck no. He hated this sometimes. Flights and waking to a person he didn't love much less like was always the most annoying part of riding a bronze. Obaranth chased and he went along with it. Not the greatest bit. He leaned his forehead against the door as lust and hunger barreled through him, the feeling of Obaranth blooding his kills as nauseating as always. He didn't call out to the bronze, Obaranth hadn't flown a huge amount of flight but the dragon was far better at this than he was.

He needed to go. Needed to find Kahleena. Needed to not be near Vessaelia if Obaranth won or lost this flight. Maybe he was a bit afraid his actions would be too like his father's. His forehead thumped softly as Obaranth too flight and A'dis spun on his heel to move away. A'dis silently hoped he didn't catch Okalinath. The dragon bellowed to own challenge to the small gold that shot like lightening into the sky. Obaranth had none of the inhibitions or misgivings that his rider did in this particular moment. He simply did what dragons do and chased a rising female with no other thought in his mind.

The Weyr’s archives had lots of interesting records, and Sh’dar periodically would borrow a tome or two to bring back to his weyr to peruse at his discretion. It was, perhaps, not totally allowed but no one had ever stopped him, and it’s not like he was hiding it. So, Sh’dar kept up the habit, and today he was reading a journal of a former Weyrleader that had been left at the back of a shelf. The man in question was frankly rather boring, but even so, everything was worth reading in Sh’dar’s mind. Still, it wasn’t exactly engrossing material so when Adraith started stirring his attention instantaneously snapped to his dragon. He could feel the tendrils of warmth and interest creeping through their bond, familiar after so many years together.

’Unless it’s a maiden Flight, I assume it’s Okalinth?’ Sh’dar asked, looking around for something to mark his place in the book. He didn’t want to leave an older book open for too long, he wasn’t sure the spine could take it. Adraith’s confirmation washed over him with the rest of the Flight lust, swirling through his senses.

Is that alright? Adraith asked, shifting around in preparation to stand.

’Of course it’s alright.’ He reassured, sending Adraith encouragement. The little bronze had been a bit hesitant about entering Flights in recent turns, ever since Sh’dar had been injured in the Landslide. It had been turns since he’s been declared fit, but Adraith still worried. Silly beast. He should have his fun. There were hardly enough Flying golds at Telgar for him to squander opportunities. Adraith didn’t have much interest in greens; felt they were not enough of a challenge, especially now that half of them were bigger than he was. The rare green he chased was usually by request of the green herself. Adraith could never say no when asked personally. Still, today Adraith hesitated.

’Go on,’ Sh’dar insisted, standing up to get ready to leave the weyr. “Get going, lazy thing.” He called aloud, checking to make sure he had nothing important on his person. Adraith snorted, and within a few heartbeats had swooped out of the weyr towards his prize. With a grin, Sh’dar left the weyr and headed toward where he knew he could find Kahleena, as Adraith’s lust grew from a soft warmth to a blazing fire.

It was still rather cool for the time of year up in Telgar though living in a Weyr did warm things up a bit. Still, S’igi was content to laze about bundled up in a blanket as he half-heartedly played a game of Solitaire. Kovith had been out on the ledge for a good half hour and while he seemed rather intent on watching something, it was becoming rather distracting for his rider. It wasn’t so much the slow-building lust he felt between their bond, but the wait. He knew a Flight was about to take place and given the date, he suspected he knew who it was. Unless one of the young golds was about to take to the sky for her first time.

No, it’s Okalinath. She should… there! Kovith took off from the ledge as soon as he saw the golden beauty take flight and give her call of chase. S’igi chuckled and set down the deck that he had started shuffling after a bad round. He stood, shrugging the blanket off as he went and gave a good stretch. He had been far too lazy recently and felt it in his bones as they cracked with several motions. Well, the walk down to Kahleena would be a good way to loosen up and warm up for whatever was about to come. Hopefully, a win! It had been a while since Kovith won a gold and Okalinath was notorious for rotating partners so his boy had a good chance today.

K’tir was an early riser, having never seen the point of sleeping in and missing a vast portion of the day and the light with which to work in. So he had risen with the sun and decided to spend part of the day at Telgar Weyr to visit an old friend or two before returning to Ista by dinner to catch up with his children. The early morning had been spent with a surprise visit to a greenriding past lover of his. The conversation had been enjoyable and the sex was still amazing. K’tir was just giving his lover a little hands on farewell and making a mental note to pop in randomly for such visits when Ghaeth’s enthusiastic voice came bursting into his head.

Okalinath is Flying! She’s always so nice to me. I’m going to chase. There was no asking permission, only a statement of a fact, though K’tir wouldn’t have denied him the chance anyway. Ghaeth was like a large excited puppy and he deserved treats too. At least now he knew why he was ready for another romp with the greenrider after they were already dressed again and about to part ways! Damn dragonlust could still sneak up on him when he wasn’t paying attention.

“Your Weyrwoman’s dragon calls,” he murmured against his lover’s mouth before nipping lightly on his lower lip. “Until next time,” he smirked, turned on his heel, and made his way to Kahleena, encouraging Ghaeth to give it all he had today. He wasn’t one to rock the boat or even care if brownriders had more power again, but he suspected it’d be fun to see the reactions some had to a brown winning a gold Flight when it hadn’t happened lately.

He'd come to visit a friend, one he had not seen since they had returned north. He did not often find himself in Telgar, generally, he stayed in Ista and kept to himself, continuing his legacy of grumpy old Bronzerider. You are not half as grumpy as you like others to think. 'Says you.', he responded in a bored tone that was ignored. In truth the bronze was right, he really wasn't as grumpy as he let people believe he was. That did not mean he was a pushover, but he did have a kindness that he reserved for those who deserved it.

Regardless, grumpy or not, his visit had drawn to an end and he was making his way through the weyr to leave, although he planned to visit the kitchen for a small bite to eat before heading back to Ista. He was nearly to the kitchen when he first felt Torath's interest peaking suddenly and severely which caused him to stop dead in his tracks. He didn't like when his dragon got that interested in something that quickly. 'Torath?', he questioned, curious but wary as well. There were few things that captivated his dragon like that, and not all of them he liked.

It was a long time before he was responded to, and by that time he felt it. It curled in his belly, slowly at first, then quickly spread to every nerve in his body and N'kal audibly groaned with the weight of it. She rises like the sun., Torath said, more to himself than his rider as he shifted his weight, readying himself to drop from an empty weyr ledge, wings poised for the first strong pull he would need to pull his bulk into the air. 'Who?', he asked gruffly, glad he didn't have to ask out loud as his dragons lust threatened to consume him. Damn his dragon and his own ill-timed visit. He should have made sure no one was set to fly before coming. He received no answer from the bronze, only an image of Okalinath blooding a kill. His own interest peaked at that, memories of Katila flights and awkward mornings flashing through his mind, and in turn to Torath's.

He remembered! She was his! His sweet, beautiful Okalinath! She will be mine again! And with that, the great bronze roared a responding challenge to the gold, and issued a raging snarl to the other males, as she took to the air, strong wings pulled him into the air after dropping from his borrowed ledge. As big as he was and as old as he may have seemed to some, his wings were strong and he made it known as he pulled himself into the air, rising quickly in the ranks of suitors. There were many of them, but none so good as he in his mind. None who deserved to touch the sun more than he. Below, his rider was rocked by the force of the dragon's lust and as he climbed higher in the sky after his golden sun, his rider moved through the halls of the weyr to find the tiny woman he knew just well enough that he would not complain if Torath managed to catch the gold again. He would have preferred a more formal reunion, but this would have to do for now.

By some miracle, the Smithcraft Hall was slowly coming around to the Weyrs and no longer being quite so hostile towards the dragonriders. Some of that likely had to do with the fact not too many Smiths were Kidnapped over the turns (apparently smithcraft wasn’t the most desired skill in Katila, as An’tell didn’t know too many others of his craft while living there). An’tell liked to think his efforts to encourage communication between the two groups had helped, but that may have been vanity on his part. Still, it was looking more like he might be able to be a smith and a dragonrider in the future, which he greatly looked forward to.

Towards that end, An’tell had stopped by the Smithcraft Hall earlier to continue smoothing over their relationship with the dragonriders. Once business there was finished, he’d stopped by Telgar Weyr to check in on a few friends before heading back to Fort. Of course, nothing could ever be that simple.

Okalinth is Rising.

An’tell stopped in the middle of the hallway he was walking through and sighed.

’Which means you’re chasing, I presume?’ He asked his dragon, knowing what the answer was going to be.

Of course.

An’tell sighed again as Erinath readied himself to fly, resigned to yet another Flight. He changed direction, headed further into the Weyr to where he could feel the Weyrwoman would be found, feeling the gentle but increasingly insistent touch of Erinath’s interest and lust making his limbs feel lighter and the day seem even better. Between his own good mood of the day and Erinath’s An’tell was almost certainly the least stressed he’d been in ages. Erinath’s lack of seriousness in Flights was nice sometimes, but An’tell still wished he’d actually win a gold someday.

’Are you going to catch her?’

An’tell could practically feel the mental shrug, an expression Erinath had picked up from watching humans, at the question.

That’s up to her. He said, and launched himself into the sky with a roar, announcing himself to Okalinth and his fellow chasers.

Obaranth let out a bellow of rage when Kovith slid past him to catch the soaring Okalinath. He pulled off, winging back to his weyr to nurse his wounded pride and ignore the world for a while. Obaranth was generally a jovial sort but gold flights were and entirely different matter. The bronze landed on his ledge, rider forgotten as he pouted at his loss. Far below him a different sort of issue was happening.

A'dis shook his head, the lust loosening just enough for the bronzerider to stumble away from Kahleena and S'igi. Eyes blurred he moved with unerring precision to the exact place he'd left only three hours before. Fogged mind knew that he should just grab the nearest drudge or rider to slake his needs but his fogged mind didn't want just any drudge or passing rider. A'dis continued on his path. What would come of this would come and there was nothing stopping him now. Hand raised and his fist thumped against the door as his head moved forward to lean against the frame. This would end up being a mistake he had no doubt, but nothing else would do.

Insulting Truths

If you'd like A'dis is pounding on Vessaelia's door
