“If I reek of lavender, there are some very fun reasons as to why,” R’nd replied with a raised eyebrow to match that of Indivara’s before he leaned down to whisper, “which I believe you’re discovering for yourself lately.” He straightened and chuckled as she made her way for his basket, likely doing her best to pretend he hadn’t just implied anything out of the ordinary, though R’nd knew some changes had been made in his young friend’s life.
His chuckle turned into a slight cough as Indivara found her revenge in the bottle of lavender oil. It most certainly hadn’t been twenty years! You know, T’ryn will be twenty soon, Ayyonth piped in, far too chipper, as he always was when R’nd started thinking about years, ages, and how long something had been happening. He isn’t! He’ll be seventeen soon. Stop making everyone older than they are. He really didn’t want to think about his eldest son’s age nor did he want to make the connection that his youngest son’s age matched how long he had been in a happy relationship with B’jin.
“And no. I’m not sick of the scent. It’s very much a part of B’jin and reminds me of certain moments. And yes, he does have his own garden but they aren’t in bloom year round. I was considering getting some more seeds so he could add to it though, to help keep the supply up.” R’nd’s mini meltdown had almost made him miss Indivara’s continued razzing on lavender and B’jin. Ayyonth typically didn’t care if his oil was scented or not and often ended up smelling of lavender because B’jin got carried away with making the scented oil. As for R’nd, he had his preferred scent he liked to use on occasion but Indivara didn’t spend near enough time with him to pick it out, especially he had just been rolling around with the greenrider.
With a laugh and a small shake of his head in the negative, R’nd watched his flower dance back several feet as Indivara continued picking on him. “Neither. Someone in the kitchens is under the weather and I wanted to brighten her day with a gift.” R’nd enjoyed spoiling other people, as his basket and a vast portion of the contents of his satchel pointed out. He had some treats for himself, but he found joy in watching the faces of other people brighten when they realised they received a gift.
A flurry of blue wings caught his attention as someone leaving the shop opened the door in time for Rell to fly in. He had left his firelizard several doors down when the adorable young lady kept sharing her meal with him. Rell wasn’t the most social of firelizards, but when food was involved, he brought out the charm. “I’m assuming she ran out of food if you’re back already,” R’nd greeted his small friend as Rell landed on his right shoulder, tail curling lightly around R’nd’s neck, and watched Queenie with a lot of side glances.
A quick pat of reassurance was given to Rell and then R’nd was reaching over Indivara’s head to grab several bottles off a shelf. One was nice to add to tea to keep his immune system in top shape, one was what he liked to wear, and the other two were nice to have on hand for their scents and what they did.
“What brings you here? Looking for something with V’ler in mind?” R’nd casually mentioned their fellow bluerider, wanting to see how Indivara handled it. He also didn’t make a move to take his flower back, knowing the woman would give it back soon enough and he wasn’t in a hurry to rush out the door.
