M’dox flinched at Indivara’s harsh tone, drawing in a few, deep breaths in an attempt to keep control. He knew that showing you were scared made it worse, he had plenty of lessons from his childhood that had taught him that, but it was hard sometimes. Indivara was scary! M’dox had heard stories about her punching people for the most minor of infractions. He didn’t want to get punched, especially not while he was holding an egg!
After a few moments, after confirming he wasn’t going to break down crying and make even greater a fool of himself, he glanced up, peering through his bangs that were getting long again to see Indivara staring at him, eyebrows raised. At her question, M’dox started immediately, stumbling over his words.
“No, ma’am, that’s it, ma’am, thank you, ma’am, may I go, ma’am?” He stammered, eyes flicking around the room to pick the best escape route once she released him. The dining room was off the schedule now, he had to get back to his weyr and set up the little egg. But Indivara was on that side of the room, so M’dox figured he might take the long way, just in case. He held his breath, waiting for the bluerider to allow him to leave (He could hear the other brownriders laughing at him in his head at waiting on a bluerider’s permission, especially a woman one, and he flushed, embarrassed, but simultaneously not caring because at that particular moment he was more afraid of her than any of his fellow brownriders).
