He had invited the hug and he was fine with it but he hadn't expected so much crying. It was only natural, he knew that, but Jajojin still wasn't entirely prepared and wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. So he sat there, arms wrapped around his daughter to hold her close, ensuring she felt safe. Whispered words of comfort were muttered regularly as he did his best to do more than simply exist while playing pillow and tissue. By the time Madiquel had cried herself out, Jajojin wondered about the condition of his shirt as he could feel the dampness of tears and who knew what else seeping through the thin material. He didn't care; Madiquel seemed more at ease and that oddly reassured him as well.
"I-I love you too, Madiquel," he did, but it was still a somewhat foreign concept to say such a thing to someone other than Denath. At suddenly remembering his dragon's fate -- he had been too focused on his daughter to realize anything else around him -- Jajojin almost lost it again, trembling slightly as he held off anxiety and fear of being alone. He had to keep it together for Madiquel's sake. The girl was doing too much for him and had just proven the weight of the world was on her shoulders and she was struggling with it.
"You should get some rest," he hadn't a clue about what time it was given he hadn't left the tiny room in over a day and he refused to look outside. It didn't matter the hour though given how wiped Madiquel seemed after such a display of emotions. It was his turn to be the adult and watch over his daughter while she slept.
