After Fomalhauth had Impressed, the inhabitants of the eggs didn't seem to be in much of a rush to escape their confines. They rocked and shook, some forming additional cracks, but for the better part of an hour, nothing happened.
It was a violent shriek that pierced the hatching circuit, interrupting the mutters and impatient shuffling of feet. The Second Rate Attack shattered, the hatchling inside splayed somewhat awkwardly from its final attempt to get out. Shrieking in fury, the Bittersweet Tundra Hatchling turned it's vivd red eyes to the Candidates. It jumped up, the snarls and hisses pouring from its mouth forestalling any coos at its awkward stumbling on the sand. Lurching forward its wings tangled amidst its feet, earning a short bout of laughter from the crowd. The hatchling's response was a rather weak roar, if only due to its newborn status. Angered at Faranth knew what, it bolted forward, sand flying up everywhere around it, aiming directly for Indivara. As it reached her it flapped its wings wildly, jumping up and latching onto her shoulder. Savagely it clung to her, raking newly hardened claws across her chest and shoulders. Hissing as it lost its grip and slipped down it reached up again, this time catching her square in the center of her face. Blood was being flung everywhere as the Bittersweet Tundra Hatchling tried desperately to stay hooked onto Indivara. It took Nirinath's brutal roar and mental slam to get the hatchling to release her, even so it shrieked in anger, thrusting itself away from the girl and sending her crashing to the ground. As it turned it saw Jada standing only a few feet away and lunged at her. The distance proved her saviour as she only received scratches down her forearm, nothing that would require serious attention like Indivara, but a binding nonetheless. Displeased at this the hatchling bolted away to the other side of the Candidates.
In the fuss of the Bittersweet Tundra Hatchling's attack, the Cool Façades egg had rocked itself into the Irresponsible Flight egg, causing the former to break enough for the dragon inside to tumble out. The Thrice Born Hatchling turned and stared at Nirinath, creeling at it. The Gold rumbled, clearly instructing it to go find its destined bonded. Turning, it looked over the gathering of white-robed people critically. Almost snobbishly it turned its nose up at them before standing, its legs wobbling beneath its skinny newborn body. Walking over to the edge of the Candidates, far away from its fellow sibling, it stalked through them, staring but not touching.
Spying one of its siblings on the sands, the Bittersweet Tundra Hatchling's eyes whirled darker, now blending into the night as they turned a deep red. Worry sparked through the Weyr, hatchlings usually weren't this ill-tempered, it needed to find its rider! Hissing, it launched itself at a new Candidate, this time Farlint. The hatchling's hard skull collided with the side of his knee, a sickening crack filling the cavernous area. The beastcrafter's leg jutted out at an angle that clearly wasn't natural in any situation. There was a cry from a Bronzerider for healers to come forward, no matter how desperate he was, Farlint wasn't going to be standing amidst the other Candidates for this clutch. A stretcher was brought over to transport him to the side, with two other healers escorting Jada and Indivara to the edges of the sands as well.
Yet again, behind the fuss of the ravaging hatchling, a third egg had fallen apart, the Fire In My Mouth Hatchling standing amidst the Irresponsible Flight egg remains. It creeled, unpleased with the actions its angered clutchmate was taking. Rearing it flapped its wings to hold its balance, but instead only manage to fall backwards and tumble through a somersault full of gangly limbs. It gave a squawk before jumping up and dashing off, but not with the viciousness of its clutchmate, instead with a good measure of determination. Reaching Remelant, it bit into his robes, dragging him over to where the Bittersweet Tundra Hatchling was standing, tail lashing and eyes whirling. Remelant resisted, who would want to go near this insane dragon?! But it was no use, the Fire In My Mouth Hatchling had bundles of determination and got him there even with the struggle. As the two arrived, there was a small glint of yellow, then blue, green and every other colour quickly swirling together. A deep sigh ran through the Weyr, the violent hatchling had Impressed, finally. "Hoth! What on pern have you done!" He shouted. The hatchling sunk down, easily recognising the authority in his new rider's voice, which continued to tell the newborn off. Thoroughly chided, the hatchling slunk alongside Remelant as they moved off to find meat.
It seemed that with the violent Hoth off the sands, the other eggs seemed more keen to escape. The Indecision Paramount in particular seemed to have finally decided on making a large crack and pushing a big chunk of shell out. Foot sticking out, it wriggled enough to get most of the eggshell to fall away, leaving only a little hat on the Hate Me Love Me Hatchling's head. Alright with this new fashion piece, it strutted forward, that is, until it saw the Fire In My Mouth Hatchling. Squealing it scuttled back, trying to hide amidst the eggs. There it trembled, not willing to move away.
